Chapter 531: Chapter 226: From South to North, Sweeping Across the Eight Wastelands
Silver Moon Wolves were low-level Demon Beasts. Chu Lingguang had dealt with them before in the Yunchuan City arena, where he could easily slay them even when his strength was only at the Qi Sea Minor Achievement realm.
Now, his strength had reached the Qi Sea Perfection realm.
He had also awakened various Divine Powers, mastered both Spear Intent and Spear Stance, and even cultivated his Flying Leaf Lotus Spear to the Perfection realm. With his diverse skillset and Sea of Consciousness Power that was unparalleled among the younger generation, it was no exaggeration to call him terrifying.
A small pack of Silver Moon Wolves posed no threat to him at all.
Riding his large black steed, he used the power of his Sea of Consciousness to unleash the horse’s full potential. He successfully broke out of the forest and galloped into the distance before the Silver Moon Wolves could even surround him.
As a result, the pack of Silver Moon Wolves closing in from behind ran right into Qin Yu, Yan Zhen, and the others.
"Chu Lingguang!"
Qin Yu was furious. With this pack of Silver Moon Wolves in their way, the distance between them and Chu Lingguang would only grow wider by the time they fought their way out.
If they encountered the same situation with the Iron-Armored Bulls and Greedy Tigers up ahead, the title of Hui Yuan would be as good as Chu Lingguang’s.
The thought made Qin Yu and the others anxious.
"ROAR!"
With fame, fortune, and the Yuanchu Mountain opportunity at stake, neither Qin Yu nor Yan Zhen held anything back. Both of them erupted with their most terrifying combat strength.
They tore an opening through the wolf pack and broke out one after another, racing straight for the north.
"Get out of my way!"
Tuoba Yunhong burned with rage. His sword roared, and every Silver Moon Wolf he struck was killed in a single blow—either sliced in half at the waist or decapitated. He was like a god of slaughter, his murderous aura soaring to the heavens, a truly chilling sight.
"Don’t get in my way."
There were many others as filled with killing intent as Tuoba Yunhong.
Meng Xiaochuan and Pu Shiyi were not to be outdone.
Xia Tianzhong’s group of three, following close behind, were also in a killing frenzy. They tried to shake off the wolf pack or go around it, but it was as if every Silver Moon Wolf in the vicinity had been awoken. No matter which direction they turned—even back the way they came—more wolves appeared.
Some couldn’t hold on and chose to forfeit, rescued by experts hidden in the forest. Others, drenched in blood—unable to tell if it was their own or from the Silver Moon Wolves—burst from the forest in a mad frenzy.
"They’re insane. There are only three spots in total. Can they really get one by fighting so desperately?"
A young man on the Canopy Attic remarked with a sigh.
"The opportunity from Yuanchu Mountain is enough to make a person lose all reason. If you were one of them, you’d be just as reckless."
The Young Master Jin Yi said calmly.
The young man bowed and nodded, seeing the profound truth in his words.
The Young Master Jin Yi’s gaze shifted beyond the forest.
The Hunting Ground was composed of plains and hills.
The forest below them was set amongst the hills, and from his vantage point, the Young Master Jin Yi could overlook the entire Hunting Ground. He watched as Chu Lingguang, the first to burst from the trees, continued to charge north at top speed.
Ahead of him lay a stretch of grassland.
A herd of Iron-Armored Bulls lived on the grassland. Some soaked in ponds while others lay lazily on the grass. A few had started to fight, their horns clashing with a thunderous boom. Some grazed leisurely, while still others chewed on rabbits—or even Silver Moon Wolf cubs.
Iron-Armored Bulls were intermediate-level Demon Beasts.
Compared to the Demon-Horned Bulls from the Northern Territory Trial Ground, the Iron-Armored Bulls were slightly smaller and slower than Silver Moon Wolves. However, their horns could release a special pulse. When an entire herd unleashed this pulse at once, the force was powerful enough to rip the flesh from an expert at the Qi Sea Perfection realm. Even a six-layered Dharma Aspect or a Qi Power Gang Shield would struggle to withstand it.
Therefore, when facing Iron-Armored Bulls, one must never let them unleash their special pulse in unison. This was especially true for large herds; even an expert in the True Martial Realm would choose to retreat.
The Court had provided detailed information on the three types of Demon Beasts in the Hunting Ground before the trial. Despite this, everyone had remained, their resolve unshaken.
After bursting from the forest, Chu Lingguang spotted the stretch of grassland below the hill from far away.
According to the trial rules, all participants had to travel from south to north. They were allowed to take detours, but they could not stray from the designated course.
The main road cut through the grassland, while countless smaller paths crisscrossed within it.
The main road ran straight from south to north, offering the shortest route. In contrast, the smaller paths crisscrossed, and navigating them to exit the Hunting Ground would take far longer.
Therefore, to vie for first place, most participants would choose the main road, charging straight north and striving to reach the end in the shortest time possible.
Swooping down from the hill, Chu Lingguang scanned the grassland. He saw the Iron-Armored Bulls scattered about. ’If I take the side paths, the detour will take too long,’ he thought. ’And if anything goes wrong, I could get cornered by a herd of Iron-Armored Bulls. The others behind me could easily catch up, too.’
’On the other hand, if I take the main road and cut straight across, I’ll be a bigger target and will definitely startle a lot of Iron-Armored Bulls. But as long as I can punch through, I’ll be out of this grassland much faster.’
So, with barely a second thought, Chu Lingguang charged north along the main road. He believed the opportunity at Yuanchu Mountain was too precious for the Court to let it be won by someone who took cunning shortcuts.
’To train alongside an expert from Yuanchu Mountain for a month, I have to press straight ahead, running from south to north on the main road. A single moment of hesitation could cost me this incredible future.’
At this thought, he urged his great black steed onward, cutting through the center of the grassland at top speed.
Back in the Canopy Attic, the Young Master Jin Yi and the others saw Chu Lingguang’s choice and nodded in silent approval. ’Fortune favors the bold. In the face of such a monumental opportunity, cunning and trickery could never be the path to victory.’
