Chapter 71: Raphael’s Proposal

Most of what Leo said was based on his past combat experience, so it was pretty good reference for Michael.

But Raphael frowned and didn’t nod at his ideas at all. This world was fundamentally not the place Leo used to live in. The one with experience dealing with the weirdest abilities here was definitely Raphael.

"I feel like what you said has flaws. For normal humans, they don’t need to pay attention to those small details in combat, but what about contractors?

I can’t think of any examples right now, but contractors have a very wide range of abilities, even beyond your imagination. You can’t ignore the small factors on the battlefield."

Saying that, both of them fell into deep thought. They couldn’t argue with Raphael because what he said made a lot of sense. But they also couldn’t observe everything because their brains really couldn’t handle it.

"Damn, I feel like a blind guy forced to read the writing on a drawing. I don’t get jack shit."

Michael pouted and leaned all the way back. He wasn’t giving up thinking about it, but right now he really didn’t have any good ideas.

Leo’s head was hurting just as much. He also couldn’t deny it, since Raphael’s experience in dealing with contractors was way better than his.

"Tsk, how should we set this up to make it fit? A god’s strength doesn’t need to be afraid of this kind of stuff because a god’s body has an insane capacity for absorbing information.

But the more information there is, the slower the processing speed gets. If we don’t learn to use it flexibly, the disadvantage will just keep growing."

He clicked his tongue and looked at the other two. One was staring at the sky, the other at the ground. All three were thinking seriously, but for now, there was still no truly workable solution.

Frustrated from thinking so long without coming up with anything useful. Just then Michael saw a squirrel standing on a tree branch, so he decided to throw a rock at it for fun.

Our ’righteous’ genie doesn’t seem like the type who has a hobby of protecting animals. The squirrel, having no clue what’s going on, just sees a rock suddenly flying toward its face.

Whether it’s because his senses got improved during transformation or not, Michael’s throw was extremely accurate. But unluckily, when the rock got close to the squirrel, it dodged quickly.

"Oh, that fast? But why didn’t it dodge from the start and waited until it got close? If it were me..."

Michael suddenly widened his eyes, super excited. Right now his brain seemed to be running at two hundred percent capacity thinking.

That squirrel’s action just now actually gave him a pretty good idea. He could use that to figure out a way to use his domain that fits the current situation.

"Hey, you figured something out?"

Seeing Michael’s sudden change in expression, Leo immediately asked. He was just asking for the sake of it, but one look and he could tell at least Michael had an idea. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Yep. I saw that squirrel dodge when the rock got close. So why don’t we split the domain into two zones? Within a five or ten meter radius, higher detail. The outer zone, just a rough idea of what’s going on is fine."

Saying this, Michael felt super confident. He even felt a little sense of achievement that two ’pros’ couldn’t come up with a good idea and had to rely on a guy like him who doesn’t know anything.

"Wait a second. Isn’t there a rule that domains have to apply the same setting to every position?"

Raphael seemed to think of something and frowned, asking for clarification. As for Leo, he was just sitting there listening, no opinion. Sitting still for too long felt weird, so he spoke up to explain for Michael.

"Of course there’s no rule like that. Using domain expansion, except for the rule that the radius is fixed according to each level milestone, there aren’t any other rules."

Hearing that, Raphael nodded. He weighed his words to see if there were any flaws, then spoke out the method he had in mind.

"If that’s the case, then I think a radius of five meters around your body is enough to react. Besides that, pay attention to any enemies acting suspicious, like preparing long-range attacks.

When that happens, increase the detail around that suspicious person to see what kind of attack they’re planning to use, so you can figure out the right way to deal with it."

The types of long-range attacks contractors have are countless. Raphael himself has a few techniques capable of that.

People like Elio, Glacior, and Ignivar all have that kind of long-range attack skill. Each person’s technique is different, so exactly how to defend against them is something Raphael can’t explain in just a few sentences.

This is something you can only learn through training and encountering weird abilities, then slowly building up experience. With Raphael protecting them, there’s no chance Leo and Michael will die while being too weak.

Michael and Leo communicated with their eyes, then both nodded at this suggestion. For now, this way they still have enough ability to use domain expansion effectively.

"Besides that, I have one more suggestion: you two need to practice multitasking."

???

What does multitasking even mean? Isn’t fighting just fighting? Even if Leo used to be a general, fighting just means charging forward, doing your best, and leaving the rest to fate.

"Explain more clearly."

If there’s no proper reason, don’t expect Michael to practice some useless skill.

"Fights between contractors aren’t always one-on-one. Also, fighting in a war is different from humans just using formations and martial arts. A contractor’s abilities are way too diverse.

If you don’t pay attention to all enemies, you’ll easily get hit by some weird technique. So focusing on multiple different problems at the exact same moment is extremely important."
