Chapter 70: Discussion on How to Set Up a Domain
Michael had eaten goat meat before and the taste wasn’t bad. But when he bought some home and cooked it himself, it was a disaster smell-wise. He didn’t remember what he did wrong, but that smell was super unpleasant.
This time, hearing about a whole roasted goat that had been left to cool made that uneasy feeling in his chest grow bigger and bigger.
And sure enough, that feeling wasn’t for nothing. As soon as he walked to the backyard of Michael’s house, he saw a goat grilled completely black.
One look and you could tell there was no prep work done at all, and the goat didn’t even have a head. Probably Raphael just sliced its head off with one sword swing, then brought the body back and threw it on the fire to roast.
The skin was pretty much burnt black, but the meat was still okay on the inside even if the outside was charred.
It was probably roasted over low heat for a long time. If it was high heat, the outside would burn while the inside stayed totally raw.
"Hehe, try a piece. When you eat, just imagine something tasty in your head and it’ll be fine."
Leo pushed Michael forward. That laugh somehow made it feel like Michael was about to become a joke.
"Why are you pushing me? I have to eat it anyway."
Even though he talked tough, Michael didn’t dare just grab a bite. He got closer to smell it first.
’That smell... Damn, why does it stink so bad? This goddamn thing is theoretically edible, but one bite of this flavor and you’d throw up everything.
These two bastards’ tolerance is seriously impressive. They could live better than this, yet they still put up with eating this crap.’
Michael couldn’t help but curse at their tolerance and laziness. In a tough situation, eating this wouldn’t be a problem.
But the key thing was Raphael used to be a high-ranking noble. He’d eaten all kinds of delicacies in this world. Anyone who knew him definitely wouldn’t expect him to eat this crap all the time.
"Hmph, I forgot to tell you. My sense of taste turns on when I want it to. When I don’t, I just turn it off."
Michael curled his lips into a triumphant smile and immediately turned off his sense of taste. His sense of smell was still a problem, but he had six arms. Using one to cover his nose still left five to eat with.
So he tore off a piece of meat as big as a fist and shoved it in his mouth. He felt like his throat was working great, so he didn’t even bother chewing and just swallowed it whole.
The moment that bite of meat dropped into his stomach, it didn’t make him feel full at all. It was like it got shredded instantly.
He had a feeling that inside his stomach there was a black hole that could tear apart any organic matter thrown into it.
He didn’t feel full, but the hunger feeling immediately went away when he ate. So he just kept eating one bite after another, only stopping to catch his breath before continuing.
By this point, not just Leo but even Raphael was staring wide-eyed in shock as Michael ate a third of the goat in just a few minutes.
"Is this some kind of god-rank talent? Can you do that too?"
Raphael looked at Leo with curious eyes, making Leo’s eyelid twitch.
"I’m sure this has nothing to do with god-rank talent. It’s just his weirdly built body. It already has this ability."
Hearing that, Raphael just nodded slightly without much reaction. He figured this was just a small advantage to make survival easier for someone like Michael who didn’t know how to survive.
As for how he knew Michael didn’t know how to survive. That was simple. When Michael wanted to drink water, he hesitated when he saw the water source but didn’t know any way to deal with the situation.
Honestly, Raphael felt that in some ways Michael wasn’t even as good as he was as a kid. But he knew Michael was really a god and didn’t come from just one world.
Maybe for Michael, this world wasn’t the same as the places he’d been before, which was why he acted so lost.
Michael’s crazy eating speed was truly unmatched. He wasn’t really eating. He was just swallowing at high speed. In just a few minutes, nearly half the goat had been cleaned out by him with his eyes closed.
Why eyes closed? Well, obviously because it looked so unappetizing that Michael couldn’t even be bothered to look.
"Done. Now let’s continue talking about the domain."
Michael looked at Leo with a proud gaze, as if getting back at Leo for his ’evil’ intention earlier.
Wanna try to make him nauseous with that terrible food? Way too underestimating a genie’s human body.
"I haven’t even eaten yet, so what are you talking about? I’m kinda hungry, so let’s talk while eating."
With that, Leo sat down next to Michael and started eating. The moment he took a bite, his face scrunched up in discomfort.
"Tsk, yeah, I’ve gotten picky."
Leo clicked his tongue helplessly. Dragon meat was really tasty, but the downside was huge too. Once you eat it, everything else tastes bad.
"What do you think we should do to reduce the detail level inside the domain? I mean, in combat, we should know what’s enough at the bare minimum."
Michael knew he had to lower the ’image quality’ inside the domain, but he wasn’t sure how low to go.
He’d never been on a battlefield, never really learned martial arts, never been in a ring fight or any other type of combat.
So he also didn’t understand what things would give a big advantage if you saw them during a fight.
"Our enemies will only be humans. Some contractors have shapeshifting abilities so they’ll have relatively weird forms, so we can’t fix their appearance to look like normal people. But we don’t need to see their appearance too sharp and detailed.
Colors should also be kept at a minimum. Plus, the domain I used earlier could see every single dust particle, and that’s way too much. I think we also need to remove those tiny harmless things from the perception range."
