Chapter 64: Ability Only Gods Have
The two names Michael just casually said made Leo seriously think for a moment. He also felt Martial God was a more reasonable name than Eat God.
"Whatever, his name doesn’t matter. What’s more important is that there’s still no clue about the divine artifact. He just said he fought with some other gods and lost his divine artifact somewhere he doesn’t remember."
Saying this, Leo could only click his tongue in frustration. Eat God not remembering was the real strange thing. But if he didn’t want to say it, pressing him wouldn’t get anywhere.
At this moment Michael felt a bit of sympathy. Cook God back then was the same way. Didn’t give him any clues to find the divine artifact either.
"Tch, these damn gods want us to play a treasure hunt? Do we have that much free time? At least Eat God gave you a little clue, but that damn Cook God gave me no clue at all."
Raphael listened carefully while recalling the recorded history of humanity from the last few tens of thousands of years.
The matter of the gods’ disappearance was recorded very vaguely because no humans were qualified to participate back then.
But roughly, there was still some speculation about the battlefield from back then.
"From what I know, the kingdoms, empires, and even Sun Capital aren’t that battlefield, because there’s no record of those places ever being heavily destroyed by gods in the past tens of thousands of years.
In my opinion, that place is somewhere on the edge of the continent near Sea Kingdom, because only close to the sea could Sea God perform at his best.
Of course that’s just speculation, but if you want to search, you should go in this direction."
He himself had traveled across this continent over the past few decades, but to the Sea Kingdom he had never been.
Even though both The Great Sun Temple and the Sea Kingdom worship gods, they have their own opinions. The people of The Great Sun Temple naturally think Sun God is the greatest, while the people of the Sea Kingdom think Sea God is the greatest.
The two often badmouth each other when they meet because of their differing views. But geography gets in the way, so people from both sides rarely actually meet.
A demigod could fly across that sea, but it’s tiring and pointless. Plus when you get there, you get discriminated against for your religion, so you can’t really treat it as an ideal travel spot either.
Besides, Sea Kingdom is huge and completely self-sufficient. It doesn’t need any supplies from the continent, so there’s no trade between them. For that reason, the people from the two places have grown more and more distant.
The only common thing is that both maintain a pretty similar noble system. Aside from what they call their highest leader, Sea Kingdom and the other kingdoms are basically the same.
"Wait. Why is it Sun Capital and Sea Kingdom? Comparing a capital to a kingdom, doesn’t that mean Sun God is a step below Sea God?"
What Michael finds strange isn’t the gods’ power. He knows that no matter which god, when they fight at full strength, it ends in a tie. To kill a god, you still have to trade the soul of another god.
What he finds strange is that Raphael used to be from The Great Sun Temple, so why would he say their god is inferior to another god?
Raphael’s eyelid twitched a few times. He’s clearly being serious, so why is Michael not taking things seriously at all?
"I can badmouth The Great Sun Temple, but I won’t badmouth Sun God. Besides, the issue is that the headquarters land of The Great Sun Temple is too small to be called a kingdom. That area is only big enough for a large city.
As for Sea Kingdom, its center is a giant island surrounded by smaller islands. That area is way larger than Sun Capital."
Hearing Raphael explain, both Leo and Michael feel pretty curious about that faraway land. But that matter is too far out of reach for their current abilities, so no need to think about it for now.
"First, we need to boost our strength. Before we turn twelve, we can’t reach level ten, so we need a training method to make use of our free time. In nine years, I’ll definitely help Michael master practical martial arts and high-level energy manipulation techniques..."
"Besides that, we also need to master domain expansion, since that’s our biggest advantage."
Without time to prepare a detailed plan yet, Leo could only give a rough outline of what the two of them would be doing over the next nine years.
Raphael understood most of what he heard, except for domain expansion, which made him frown because the term sounded really unfamiliar.
"What’s domain expansion?"
He was a well-read and knowledgeable person, yet he’d never heard of this before. He knew it had something to do with gods.
But the records about Sun God and Sea God were way too vague for him to make any connection.
"Every god has their own domain, where they have a greater advantage over others. You can think of it as a unique skill that belongs to gods.
Even though right now I only have god-level talent, I can still use it. You could see it as compensation for gods not having an ultimate technique that can burst out superior combat power like demigods do."
Leo had never used domain expansion himself, but through past conversations with Eat God and some inherited memories, he could understand a bit about it.
As for how well that ability actually works or what conditions are needed to use domain expansion, he’d need to test it out to learn the practical lessons.
"Ha ha ha, jealous? This is what god-level talent looks like. We already have our own technique right after awakening. The former number one genius of the continent, like you, couldn’t have this even in your dreams."
Seeing Raphael’s surprised expression made Michael unable to resist showing off. Only now did he finally feel a bit of joy after all the unpleasantness.
The feeling of surpassing someone who was once a top genius was truly amazing.
