Chapter 61: Finding a Way to Control Slaughter Aura
Seeing Michael wasn’t just randomly cursing anymore, Raphael decided to get serious.
This was the first time he’d run into a situation where a contractor lost control due to transformation, so he really wanted to study it to avoid making any mistakes in the future.
"What the hell actually happened earlier? You said you didn’t lose consciousness, but why did you look like a rabid dog?"
Raphael’s blunt question made Michael’s eyelid twitch a few times. Was he asking or insulting him? He seriously suspected Raphael was still holding a grudge over him trying to attack Raphael.
Leo, standing nearby, also found it a bit funny, but his thirst for knowledge was high enough that he didn’t laugh out loud.
He wanted to know what went wrong with Michael too, so that if he ever ran into a similar situation while transformed, he’d have more clues to handle it.
"I’m sure that damn bastard isn’t Cook God. When I transformed, I got infected by his terrifying slaughter aura, which made me lose control over my body.
My body at that point only had the instinct to slash and kill. Lucky for you two, I don’t actually have that kind of power, otherwise you’d both be dead already."
This was Michael’s chance to explain so he could legitimately paint a picture where he had the ability to kill them both.
Saying that was just to make himself feel better. If he actually had that kind of power, that’d be a miracle.
Even if he later reached the power level of a god, a situation like that could never happen. What god can’t control their own power? So no matter how weak he was, that situation wouldn’t happen.
"So you’re saying Cook God is still alive? Is there a chance he could take over your body?"
Even though saying this felt pretty ridiculous to Raphael, standing next to him was a Leo who was just as weird, so he couldn’t afford to be careless.
"No, that’s not what I mean. Slaughter aura can be considered a trait of that transformation state. Cook God is probably some kind of god with a killing tendency. It’s kinda like an evil god, but his actual personality can’t really be called cruel."
Cook God himself was also very confusing to Michael. Clearly, from appearance to aura, he looked like a murder maniac. But the way he talked, the way he thought, and the things he liked to do were completely opposite.
Cook God once said that gods exist for responsibility. So Michael thinks maybe this slaughter aura is related to his responsibility.
The other weird stuff he does could be seen as some kind of strange way to relax.
"As long as that’s not the case, fine. But is there a way to fix it? If you keep going crazy and attacking teammates like this, how are we supposed to work together?"
Leo couldn’t help but care about this problem. Having a god on the team is a good thing, but a god who loses control and keeps killing teammates is unacceptable.
"I think I’ll just get used to it after a while. I’m a genie, not a human, after all. Based on how I feel right now, within a few months I should be able to fully adapt to the slaughter aura of this state."
Michael himself wasn’t entirely sure why, but from the very first time he came into contact with these negative things, his resistance was already pretty good.
But he’s certain it’s closely related to him being a genie. Makes sense too, since a ’righteous’ genie like him couldn’t possibly be corrupted.
"Ha ha, that’s good enough. With me here to support you, every time you go crazy, I’ll just slap you once. I don’t believe slapping you hundreds or thousands of times won’t make you fully control the slaughter aura."
Raphael flashed a sly grin that sent a chill down Michael’s spine. Michael seriously suspected Raphael was showing signs of getting addicted to slapping him.
"Tsk, say that and I’ll definitely do whatever it takes to control the slaughter aura within a week. I’m a god, not some psycho who likes being abused."
Michael rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue. Not sure if Raphael meant it or not, but his determination to control the slaughter aura was clearly a bit higher than before.
"Let’s call my issue settled for now. When you awakened, did you meet Heaven?"
Logically speaking, Leo was also an ’immigrant’ like Michael. He wasn’t a god, but a soul from another world that crossed over here.
"Are you cursing me to die or something? I know I piss you off sometimes, but not that much."
Not just Leo, Raphael also looked at Michael with a really weird expression. They could tell Michael was asking a serious question, but the content of that question sounded like a curse.
Even though the two of them came from different worlds, they still knew some things, like how good people go to Heaven after they die and bad people go to Hell.
Of course, no one thinks of themselves as a bad person, so everyone goes to Heaven. So Michael’s question was basically the same as asking why Leo didn’t die during his awakening.
???
The two weird looks and Leo’s question left Michael stunned. Was that what he was talking about? He was talking about Heaven, an existence even higher than gods.
’They’re reacting like that, so neither of them knows Heaven actually exists. Whatever. Maybe Heaven only targets me because I’m a genie. Leo’s just a mortal soul who transmigrate, so Heaven just ignored him.’
Once he figured that out, he didn’t want to say anything more about Heaven. If Heaven didn’t want to show itself to the public like other gods, then fine. He wasn’t in the habit of picking fights with the ’homeowner’ inside their own ’house’.
"If you didn’t see it, forget it. You don’t need to know anyway, since it’s none of your business."
Seeing Michael say that, the two figured it was something related to gods. They weren’t gods, at least Leo wasn’t right now. So they didn’t need to care.
