Chapter 3599: A Possible Solution
Alex went through the few attempts that Bluedoor had made to fix Graham’s issue.
Since Alex’s father’s body wasn’t abnormal or affected by some disease, it was impossible to heal it normally. As such, one had to use something strong that could affect the body permanently.
That was what Bluedoor had figured out very quickly, so everything he tried had followed that method.
The first thing Bluedoor had attempted was to erase the minute channels on the outside of Graham’s meridians. Either he or his wife had made the pill to permanently destroy them.
Graham had eaten the pill, and the channels in his meridians had been destroyed for a couple of weeks, but as he cultivated and healed, the channels had come right back. The changes hadn’t been permanent at all.
The second thing they had attempted was to widen the main channels as much as they could so that the reverse flow coming from the outer channels would not be able to do much. They had made a pill and fed it to him, but that effect hadn’t lasted for long either.
It had momentarily overcome the issue, but his meridians had reverted right back.
To make it a permanent change, Bluedoor had Graham cultivate a technique that was primarily designed to expand the meridians of anyone born with narrow meridians. However, that technique depended heavily on the person channeling in Qi in large amounts to put pressure on them, and Graham simply couldn’t do it at all.
As such, that attempt had ended in failure as well.
Bluedoor’s one and final attempt had been to plug up the channels, which had worked the longest of all. But just a few months later, those plugs had been dug through by his Qi, so that hadn’t worked either.
The pill that made the plug itself was created with some rather expensive ingredients, so Bluedoor couldn’t make many of them.
After that attempt had failed as well, Bluedoor had completely given up. Graham and Ronron had stopped bothering them as well, so Graham had gone about his days carrying the issue.
Going through each one of the many attempts that Bluedoor had made, Alex couldn’t help but feel that he himself would’ve gone through them as well. Since the man had already failed in those attempts, he could simply continue from where he left off.
’But what do I do?’ Alex thought.
The information within the Book of Boundless Healing wasn’t helpful there as everything it suggested doing was something that Bluedoor had already done. The only options were to plug up the walls in Graham’s meridians or make them wide enough to offset the reverse flow.
Neither of which had clearly worked at all.
Alex was left wondering if there was even a permanent solution to begin with.
He cultivated for nearly 3 weeks while letting his mind wander on this one problem. And then, he came across an idea that should have never been a solution to any issue at all, but was the only thing Alex could think of.
Alex scratched his head in confusion. The answer he had come up with was something that went against everything he had trained himself not to do. And somehow, this was the solution he had come up with.
"Well... if it works, then it works. There’s no point in overthinking it."
With the decision made, Alex called his father and mother into the room.
Graham had to be there as the pills he was going to make were for him. At the same time, Helen was there so that he could tell her exactly what he was going to do. Later on, she would have to take over for him as he couldn’t spend his time helping Graham constantly.
"What are you going to do?" Helen asked curiously.
"Make some pills," Alex said simply, explaining nothing more.
Helen nodded slowly. "If that’s what you want me to take over, then leave it up to me. I have become quite talented when it comes to making pills. I barely fail to make Pill Clouds form for more than 1 in 10 pills nowadays."
Helen boasted her incredible stats when it came to making pills. Such a rate of success would’ve easily placed her high in the alchemy tournament.
There were many other aspects of the tournament such as endurance, multitasking, and whatnot, but surely his mother could’ve passed those as well.
Alex brought out Memory and placed her before the two. At the same time, he began bringing out the many ingredients that he would require.
Helen grabbed a few ingredients and looked into them. She took a deep breath and began using the Supreme Elemental Accord technique to add the missing energy into the ingredient. As one of the only people with 7 elemental Spirit Roots, she was the only one other than Alex who could use this technique.
Alex hadn’t yet had the opportunity to teach her the Divine Elemental Accord, which he would soon.
He looked at his mother, who took a short time to finish with the ingredient. She placed it down. "It wasn’t missing as much energy as I was expecting it to."
She reached for another ingredient to do the same, but Alex quickly stopped her. "That’s fine, mother. You don’t have to do that."
Helen paused. "But the quality of the ingredients," she argued.
"It’ll be fine."
Helen pulled her hand back before slowly nodding. "Right, you have that technique. You can just use that to fill the pill."
Alex said nothing. Once he was ready, he lit a yellow fire under Memory, quickly heating her up.
As his parents watched, Alex put the ingredients into the cauldron one after another. The speed at which he put the ingredients in caused Helen to be slightly concerned that he was going to make some mistakes, but her son was the better alchemist, so she remained quiet.
She watched as Alex sped through the pill-making process and ended up making 5 pills in total in just a matter of minutes.
Not a single one of them called forth the Pill Clouds.
