Chapter 3598: Graham’s Inverted Meridians
Once again, Alex walked past the courtyard where Yang Renye was imprisoned. He had considered asking the Sky God to let him meet the man at least once, but he just hadn’t had the opportunity yet. He was quite busy with his own tasks, so it would be a while before he could get to that.
He returned to his courtyard and, after catching up with everyone to see if they wanted to enter his Soul Space or come out of it, he went straight to figuring out the solution to his father’s problem.
Alex sat in the dark room, reading through the talismans he got from Bluedoor to learn the issue that was present in his father’s body. He studied the talismans for a while, going through not just the state of his father’s body and meridians, but also all the attempts the man had made in order to heal his father.
However, no matter what Bluedoor had done, nothing had permanently fixed his father at all.
Once Alex studied the records and went through them in their entirety, he took some time to try and come up with any solution to his father’s issue. He spent a few days thinking about it during his cultivation, but as he couldn’t think of anything, he realized that he had to check his father directly.
So, he called him out of his Soul Space.
Graham arrived outside a short while later. "How long has it been?" he asked. "I can barely keep track of time on the inside."
"It’s been about 2 months since you were last outside," Alex told him. "A week since sister Hannah left my Soul Space."
"Only 2 months?" Graham found it hard to reckon with the fact. "I could swear it’s been many years."
"I can imagine that is how it feels," Alex said. "Time at the center moves quite quickly."
Graham nodded. "So, what am I out here for?"
Alex gestured for his father to sit on the bed. "I wanted to check your meridians once again. I was trying to think of ways to fix your issues, and it seems that I just can’t do that without first checking your body thoroughly."
Graham didn’t say anything else and simply sat down on the bed, presenting his arm for his son to look through. Alex took his father’s wrist and poured his senses into it.
"You’ve done this before, haven’t you?" Graham asked. He had only reached the Saint realm after coming to the Sky God’s realm. His memories from before he left the lower realm were rather vague as a result.
"I have, but I was quite weak back then, so my senses may not have seen everything they had to see. Beyond that, I have learned a lot since then, so I may have missed something back then that I may catch right now."
That made sense to Graham, so he let Alex do what he needed to do. He lowered any defenses his body had against someone else’s spiritual senses and let himself be vulnerable.
Alex’s senses spread through Graham’s body, moving through the meridians. Since the rest of his body didn’t need to be checked, he concentrated the entirety of his focus solely on Graham’s unique meridians.
The Sky God had called it the Inverted Meridians, which Bluedoor’s notes had supported. Reading through them, Alex had begun to imagine Graham’s meridians as being inside out. That was the only possible meaning he could assign to those words without it being ridiculous, such as the possibility of the meridians being in reverse order.
Since it was clear that Graham’s meridians didn’t start as a singular one at the surface of his body and move deep to grow into many branches, that wasn’t the case.
However, the meridians weren’t inside out either.
The inversion there surprisingly referred to the flow of Qi moving through these meridians. Alex hadn’t been able to pierce into his father’s meridians back then and had thus concluded that there was nothing wrong with him at all. However, now that his senses pierced through them, he could see the actual issue, which aligned precisely with what the Sky God and Bluedoor had told him.
The insides of his father’s meridians had multiple tiny channels all over the outer walls of the meridians that looped back right into the meridian, but facing in the opposite direction.
Any Qi that flowed through those channels specifically would end up getting inverted right back into the main channel and fight against the incoming Qi.
Alex blinked in surprise as he finally learned the issue with his father.
’So that’s what’s wrong with him. Those are the Inverted Meridians.’
Any time Graham tried to cultivate and take in Qi, the Qi that flowed through his meridians would immediately split into a main portion that went through the meridians, while a small portion filled the tiny channels. That would directly go against the flow of the meridian, causing the Qi to slow down almost immediately.
Since it wasn’t just one spot where the meridians were that way, but rather all throughout, every bit of passing Qi would flow around and create an obstruction against the rest of it, causing a massive blockage at every step of the way. By the time the Qi reached Graham’s dantian, barely any would remain at all, causing cultivation sessions to end up becoming absolutely pointless.
Even if Alex were to give him cultivation pills that could help him make his meridians wider to offset the pushback from the inverting Qi, it would still not matter as there were too many such instances for there to be any bit of measurable improvement.
Alex looked through his father’s Spirit Roots just in case, but those were normal. His Earth and Wood roots were quite good, with a Water root that was slightly behind. He also had Fire and Metal roots, but they were okay at best. He lacked both Yin and Yang Spirit Roots.
Alex brought out his senses.
"Thank you, father. I’ve checked all that I have. I’ll get back to you once I’ve figured something out."
