Chapter 614: Got Hit
The moment the distance closed, all of them moved at once.
Sean stepped forward first. His sword already raised as power surged through his arms.
His fighting style relied on raw strength, and the moment he struck, that truth became obvious.
His swings with his sword have immense force as he slammed it into the descending mass and the tentacles that lashed toward him.
The impact sent shockwaves through his arms, but he didn’t stop.
"Come on, you damn thing!" he shouted as he swung again, his voice rough with strain.
Connor moved alongside him without hesitation, matching his rhythm almost instinctively.
His own attacks were just as direct and just as forceful, as he brought his weapon down against the creature with brute strength.
"Hit it harder!" Connor barked, gritting his teeth as another strike landed. "It’s not going down that easy!"
Their blades crashed repeatedly against the writhing darkness, each hit pushing back against the overwhelming presence above them.
Not far from them, Mina moved differently.
Her body flowed between the incoming tentacles with precise footwork as she avoided each strike by the smallest margins.
When she countered, her daggers flashed in rapid succession. She sliced into the creature’s extensions. A green substance spread from her daggers upon contact. The substance then seeped into the dark flesh like poison, while a faint red energy wrapped around her weapons and strengthened each strike.
"Stay still, you bastard!" she muttered coldly as she slashed again, her eyes sharp and focused.
Then there was Ray.
He laughed.
"Hahahaha! Yeah, this is more like it!" he shouted as he charged forward without fear, his Demonic Sword coated in dark, violent energy. Each of his swings was reckless but powerful. He tears into the creature with chaotic force.
"Come on! Fight back!" he yelled, his grin wide despite the danger.
Above them, Clyde continued his relentless assault. Fire and lightning erupted from him in massive bursts, crashing into the core of the creature again and again without pause. His face was tight but still much calmer than the rest of them.
Below, Vulkrath roared as it launched more burning rocks skyward that exploded against the beast’s body upon impact.
Under the combined assault, the Celestial Abyssal Beast began to shudder violently. Its massive body twisted as if struggling to endure the continuous damage.
Then it retaliated.
Its tentacles lashed out wildly.
Sean barely had time to react before one slammed into him.
"Shit!"
The force sent him flying.
Connor was struck next, his body thrown across the air.
Ray laughed even as it hit him.
"Hah!"
All three of them were swatted away, crashing into distant ruined structures with brutal impact.
Pain exploded through their bodies as debris collapsed around them.
"Fuck..." Connor groaned as he pushed himself up slightly, blood running down his face.
Sean coughed, forcing himself to move. "We’re not dead... keep moving..."
Even Ray, bruised and bleeding, let out a low chuckle.
"Heh... yeah... this is getting good..."
However, despite the damage, none of them stayed down.
The impact had barely settled when Sean forced his body to move again with pain still lingering in every muscle. He pushed himself off the broken concrete.
His grip tightening around his sword while dust and debris slid from his shoulders.
His breathing came out rough and uneven, but his eyes remained locked upward toward the descending mass.
"Damn it... that thing hits hard..." he muttered under his breath, before stepping forward again without hesitation. He knows that there was no other choice except to fight right now. He couldn’t run away. So why bother? Better to just force himself to fight again.
Connor wasn’t far behind either. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, his expression twisted with frustration as he glanced at the shattered wall he had crashed through.
Without wasting another second, he turned and began climbing again, using whatever remained of the ruined skyscraper to pull himself higher.
"Urgh... we’re not done yet!" he thought to himself with a hoarse groaning voice. But filled with stubborn resolve. "Must get back up there!"
Sean followed immediately. Their movements were slower than before, weighed down by the damage they had taken, but neither of them stopped.
They leapt across broken beams and unstable ledges. They drag themselves upward step by step, determined to rejoin the fight no matter the cost.
Not far from them, Ray also rose from the wreckage.
Blood ran down his arm and parts of his clothing were torn. But the grin on his face never disappeared. He let out a low laugh as he rolled his shoulder, ignoring the pain as if it barely mattered.
"Hah... you hit pretty hard, you octopus looking fucker!" he said, glancing up toward the sky. "But that just makes it better!"
Without another word, he rushed forward as well, climbing after them with reckless speed. His movements were unsteady but still relentless.
While they struggled to return, Mina remained alone at the front.
She had not been struck.
Her body moved with sharp motions as she continued to weave through the incoming tentacles. Her movements were fast and controlled as she avoided each tentacle by narrow margins. Her eyes stayed focused, cold and unwavering as her daggers flashed again and again.
A tentacle lashed toward her from above, but she twisted her body at the last second to slip past it before driving both daggers forward.
The green poison surged from her blades upon contact and spread rapidly across the dark surface as the red energy around her other dagger intensified.
She did not stop there.
With a sharp motion, she tore through the weakened section, slicing deeper as the poison corroded the structure from within. The resistance gave way suddenly.
Then it broke.
One of the massive tentacles split apart under her attack.
A violent rupture echoed through the air as the severed portion tore free and fell. It crashed through the ruined buildings below, smashing through concrete and steel before disappearing into the streets beneath.
Mina let out a long breath, her eyes still locked upward.
