Chapter 260: Extraction, Fight with Freya
They were all sitting comfortably in the living room.
The credits of a movie was rolling across the television screen.
They had decided to stay in and enjoy a film instead of heading out to convert their Origin Credits today.
Earlier, they had split all their Origin Credits equally. They also split the 5x rebate reward of 5,000 Origin Credit as well/
Each of them now had 14,90,000 Origin Credits, which was roughly $14,900.
Sylvia had insisted on not wanting it, but how could Caelus let that happen?
After the movie credits ended, Caelus turned toward Freya. She sat comfortably on the couch with a large bucket of popcorn in her hands. Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she continued to stare at the screen.
"This movie was so cool!" Freya exclaimed. She immediately turned toward Caelus. "Are there more movies like this, Origin?"
"That was only the first one," Caelus replied with a smile. "There are four more."
Freya’s eyes lit up hearing this. "Then let’s watch the next one! Play it! Play it!"
Caelus shook his head. "No. We’re going to do something else first."
"What? Why?" Freya questioned as a cute pout formed on her face.
"We’re entering the Arena," Caelus said. "I want to test my combat abilities and how I fare against you, the Ender of Life. Don’t worry, it won’t take long."
In truth, what he really wanted was to extract Freya’s Talent.
An Upper SS Rank Talent was incredibly valuable; he wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass.
Hearing this, Freya immediately agreed without hesitation. "If that’s the case, okay. Let’s fight!"
The three of them stood up. Their bodies gradually became illusory as they entered the Origin Ascension Domain. Sylvia didn’t participate, naturally; instead, she chose to watch from the spectator area outside the arena.
The Arena loaded around them. Caelus and Freya stood on opposite sides of the arena as a countdown began.
Freya immediately summoned one of her Life Spirits. It was a green golem with, surprisingly, a combat score the same as hers.
Seeing this, Caelus switched the Ruyi Jingu Bang into its Double-Edged Spear form.
The weapon transformed smoothly in his hands as the edges turned into sharp blades.
As soon as it transformed, the arena’s notification rang.
[Ding! Begin the match!]
The battle soon began. Freya was the first to attack. She raised her hands, conjuring several glowing green orbs of condensed energy, which Caelus identified as a skill, and sent them hurtling toward him like a volley of arrows, all while the golem charged forward.
Caelus sidestepped the glowing projectiles as a sonic boom erupted, but by now the golem was already upon him. It punched forward with immense speed.
Bang!
He blocked the creature’s heavy downward punch with the shaft of his weapon and fluidly countered with an upward slash of his halberd. The blade cut deep into the golem’s rocky shoulder, sending debris flying as it damaged the summon.
Freya, seeing this, was not afraid. She fired another rapid barrage of Life Bullets. Caelus ducked under the first two, but a third grazed his shoulder, erupting with concussive force and searing his skin with a sharp, stinging pain.
"Tsk." Caelus clicked his tongue. It hurt more than he expected it to.
Gritting his teeth, Caelus darted to the side, closed the distance between them in a flash, and landed a clean, blunt strike on her arm.
"Ouch! That hurts!" Freya complained, rubbing her arm.
"It’s only an Arena battle," Caelus replied while rolling his eyes. "Stop complaining and start attacking."
Before Caelus could follow up, the golem roared.
ROAR!
Its massive palms glowed with vibrant green light, and it unleashed its own barrage of heavier, Life Bullets at point-blank range. Caelus quickly began swirling the double-edged spear, negating all the Life Bullets. They shot back into the ground one by one as they exploded, forming smoke everywhere.
Swoosh!
Through the smoke, the golem swung its massive fist, charging directly toward his face. Caelus simply dodged it; his ascended body’s senses had already alerted him of danger.
With that, he also unleashed Sword King’s Vault, sending star swords toward the golem, which deflected them with its own Life Bullets.
During this time, Freya also sent a surge of Life Bullets. Clicking his tongue, Caelus weaved through the constant crossfire of Life Bullets from both master and summon.
He struck the golem repeatedly, his halberd chipping away at its stony defenses.
Using his superior agility, he managed to slip past the massive creature multiple times, landing a few swift attacks on Freya. She complained loudly every single time she got hit.
However, he didn’t care.
Just then, the golem came forward while he dealt damage to Freya. The golem clipped him with a heavy backhand, and another volley of Freya’s Life Bullets slammed directly into his chest, dealing damage and knocking the wind out of him.
"Cough..." Coughing, he cleared his mouth as he glared at the two.
Boom!
With one move, his figure shot forward like lightning, engaging in more exchanges with the two. His stamina was not something that could be depleted easily, after all.
During one fierce exchange, Caelus slightly overextended a heavy slash against the summon. The golem capitalized on this instantly by driving a punch directly into Caelus’s side.
He grunted hard as he shot back, coughing blood.
Freya noticed this immediately. Without thinking twice, she dropped her combat stance and rushed toward him, full of worry on her face. Life Axiom Energy glowed brightly, warm and soothing in her hands, as she pressed them directly against his injury.
Caelus froze, seeing this. "Freya... What are you doing?"
"I’m healing you!" Freya said innocently, a bright smile on her face.
"You shouldn’t heal your opponent during a battle, Freya," Caelus said, completely speechless.
Was she seriously this gullible?
Freya shook her head stubbornly. "The previous Ender of Life always promised to heal my big brother, Origin. So I’ll do the same."
Hearing this, both Caelus and Sylvia were stunned. A sudden pang of guilt hit Sylvia when she heard the words of Freya. Maybe she had been a little too rude toward Freya all this time?
Caelus let out a long sigh. "I feel a little bad now."
He tightened his grip on Ruyi.
’But I need that talent of yours.’
He immediately pushed back and rushed forward again.
The battle resumed instantly.
This time, Caelus began using Origin Sever; he was done testing the waters.
His eyes glowed with a piercing, blue draconic light as he activated the skill. Freya’s abilities were severed one by one. She tried to conjure more Life Bullets, but the energy fizzled out in her palms.
Her skills had been taken away!
A moment later, the golem froze in place, its glowing eyes going dark as its connection to Freya was cleanly cut.
Without her skills or her summon, Freya couldn’t keep up. Caelus swiftly maneuvered past her disabled golem and landed the final blow.
The Arena’s system notification came once more, declaring him the winner.
[Ding! Caelus Kross has won the battle!]
Seeing this, he immediately saw an extraction option appear. Caelus didn’t hesitate. He chose to extract her Talent.
[Ding! Extraction Successful! You’ve successfully extracted the talent: Life Bringer]
