Chapter 246: I Do Not Swing That Way! Principle’s Shock, Targeting S-Ranks
It was a call from Chad’s little sister.
"Caelus," Linda’s voice came from the other side. "I heard about what happened out there. Thank you, Caelus."
"It is fine. That is what I should have done from the start.... That aside. How are you doing?"
"I’m fine.... the other day..."
After speaking a bit more, Caelus ended the call.
Caelus and Sylvia decided to watch some shows with peace of mind. They were glad they could rest easy without worrying about guilds. This was the land of freedom, and people could not just do as they pleased.
Of course, if you had a bounty on your head, that rule did not apply. But Caelus did not have a bounty and he was in a comfortable spot right now. He had a Combat Score of 30. So did Sylvia. It was all in his favor.
They sat on the sofa to watch TV. Caelus decided to show her the full capabilities of what mankind could achieve on this planet through movies. Movies were easily one of the greatest things on Earth, far better than whatever was available on the Azure Origin planet.
Once they finished watching, they received a call. It was from the principal. The call was not for him, but rather for Sylvia. Therefore, they set off for the school.
-----
Once they reached the principal’s office, Principal Dickenson of LLC High was shocked to see Caelus.
"It is you, child," he said, standing up. "The kid that went viral after eliminating the Direwolf gang."
"Are you also part of the school system?" the principal asked in a measured tone. He had already checked the student records everywhere, but he could not find anything on Caelus. His face was just that different.
"Hello, Principal Dickenson. I am Caelus Kross. Nice to meet you."
"Caelus Kross?" Principal Dickenson’s mind went blank upon hearing the name.
He knew this name. In fact, he recognized him all too well. Out of the entire school, Caelus was the one he would most easily recognize.
"What? How is this possible? How do you look so different? You look nothing like him," Principal Dickenson said with a baffled look.
"It really is me, Principal Dickenson," Caelus said while shaking his head. He took out his ID card.
"No way." He became even more shocked.
"Principal Dickenson, can you stop acting like you are looking at the most shocking thing on Earth right now?"
"But it is," Principal Dickenson said with twitching lips. "You look extremely handsome."
Caelus was now baffled. "I am sorry, Principal Dickenson, but I already have Sylvia, and I do not swing that way."
Dickenson was young, at best 23 years old. However, he still grew angry.
"You brat, what are you saying?!" he shouted in a lecturing tone.
"I thought we were the best of friends, Principal Dickenson. Why are you getting angry at me?"
Principal Dickenson looked at Caelus and sighed. "It really is you, kid. Come sit."
Caelus grinned and guided the confused Sylvia to sit down on the sofa.
"You might be confused," Caelus turned to Sylvia and spoke. "Principal Dickenson and I know each other. He is acquainted with my family and is my neighbor in Astoria. He used to teach me a lot in the past."
But now, he is a powerful evolver.
Caelus could sense it. An unprecedented amount of energy oozed out of Dickenson. There was no mistake. This man was not a Rookie. He had not seen any beings with a rank higher than Rookie yet, and one was sitting right in front of him.
"How did it come to this, Caelus?" Dickenson asked. "I wanted to ask Miss Sylvia about some matters, but forget about that. How did you turn into this, and how is Miss Sylvia your girlfriend? Are Mr. and Mrs. Kross aware of this?"
"No." Caelus shook his head. "But it is a long story. My talent reawakened."
"Reawakening?!" Dickenson jumped up from his seat once again.
"Bro, I will leave if you keep doing that," Caelus said with a baffled look. "Can you sit still for once?"
"Who are you calling bro? It is Principal Dickenson to you, kiddo." He cleared his throat and sat down. "Still, to think it was a talent reawakening. And this does not seem to be your dad’s talent either?"
"Yep. It is slightly better than his," Caelus said casually.
"How much better are we talking?" Dickenson asked.
"Not telling," Caelus rolled his eyes. "You will break through the roof if I do."
Dickenson readjusted his collar. "I am a simple human being. It is my freedom to get shocked."
"Then I am not telling," Caelus said as he crossed his legs.
Caelus was comfortable with Dickenson because they had known each other since he was young. Sylvia, on the other hand, was fascinated by their interaction.
"Just say it," Dickenson finally said as he took a sip from a glass of water.
"It is an S-Rank," Caelus said with a smirk.
Pfft.
Dickenson spit out the water he had just drunk at the same speed he drank it. Luckily, he did not break through the roof.
"Caelus, did you tell anyone else about this?"
"Except Chad, no one else," Caelus affirmed.
"That is good," Dickenson said as he wiped his mouth. "It would have been troublesome if you did. Recently, many S-Rank talents are being assassinated across the globe by a certain group, and their place of operation is here in the States."
"Indeed. Such a transformation. Only an S-Rank can achieve it. It seems like you will be rising to the top soon, Caelus."
"But it still does not explain how you know Miss Sylvia." Dickenson glared at Caelus.
For this question, it was Sylvia who answered. She coiled her arms around Caelus. A charming smile appeared on her face as she hugged him deeply.
"We met online by fate and became lovers. Now I cannot live without him, nor can he live without me. Is that not right, Caelus?" Sylvia looked up at Caelus lovingly.
Dickenson readjusted his glasses sharply, completely baffled.
"That is right. She is my girl for life. I am going to marry her one day," Caelus added.
"You kid." Dickenson clicked his tongue. He did not know how to comment. He remembered how Sylvia acted when she first saw Caelus at the school gate. It was like finding a lost piece of her soul. She began sobbing, and the emotions were all too real. Caelus seemed serious about it too.
"Anyway, why did you call Sylvia?" Caelus asked, changing the subject.
"Yes, about that." Dickenson grew serious. "It is related to graduation. Since she is famous, she naturally has many people offering spots for her in guilds. I called her here to give her a list."
"No thanks," Sylvia said immediately. "The only guild I will join is a guild with Caelus and nowhere else."
"Is that so?" Dickenson said while readjusting his glasses. "Very well. I will accept your decision and deny the guilds for you. But it is not that simple, you two."
