Chapter 244: Shadow Halberd Guild! Earning a Guild Player’s Salary is easy
"What is up, Chad?" Noticing his friend’s gloomy look, Caelus asked.
"Caelus." Chad was stunned as he turned toward him.
"Oh, who is this, Chad? Your friend? Why did you not introduce him to us?" One of the men beside him spoke with a laugh.
The others also laughed with him as if they were witnessing the funniest thing in the world.
Caelus frowned seeing this. "What is there to laugh about? Do you think the world is rainbows and sunshine?"
The laughter broke as the person who spoke before spoke again. "What did you say, brat? Who do you think you are to question what we do?"
"Enough, Justin. He might just be like Chad, a frog in the well. There is no need to say anything further. Let us go on our way after getting our money."
"And as mentioned, Chad. You will get 1%." The man who spoke was Phillip. He wore a grin as he stared at Chad.
Chad did not say anything upon hearing this. He seemed to have something on his mind, but he seemed reluctant to speak.
Caelus was about to speak, but Chad hastily shook his head. Seeing this, Caelus stopped.
"What is the situation, Caelus? Should we intervene?" Sylvia asked telepathically.
"No," Caelus replied. "We will wait until these people leave and talk with Chad."
The assistant soon led them to the monster core dropper box. Chad’s team and Caelus’s party naturally had different assistants.
The assistant noticed the mood. She came over and spoke in a hushed tone. "Hey. Do you have any idea what is happening? Was that your friend from before? That guy in the middle and the rest of them are all from the Shadow Halberd Guild."
"Do not worry. I have it under control," Caelus said calmly. "Can you begin counting the monster cores now?"
"Sure." The assistant swiftly activated the monster core dropper, and Caelus began dropping them in one by one.
He had 166 cores. Of those, there were 111 common, 52 uncommon, 1 rare, 1 apex, and 1 transcendent.
Caelus began dropping the common ones first, then the uncommon ones. Finally, he took out a rare core.
"Another rare?" The assistant was pleasantly surprised. "Sir, where are you finding these rare beasts?"
The Shadow Halberd Guild heard the voice of the assistant.
"It is just one rare monster core," Phillip said with a snicker. He immediately took out three.
Their assistant, seeing this, immediately praised him as he threw a glance at the assistant with Caelus and Sylvia.
Caelus’s assistant ground her teeth and sighed. There was no way to compete with her fellow coworker. He had the players of the Shadow Halberd Guild, after all.
With their cores, they were done. Their assistant continuously praised them, but Caelus was far from finished.
He took out the apex monster core.
The instant he took it out, everyone in the room froze. Phillip also managed to catch sight of it. Caelus casually tossed it into the monster dropper.
Instantly, words lit up on the screen.
"What?" Phillip’s mouth went dry seeing this. "How is that possible? An apex core?"
"What." The assistant was stunned beyond words herself. "Sir, what is this? How did you obtain it?"
"It is a mutated core too."
"They are rarer than normal ones."
"I am not done." Caelus smiled as he took out the transcendent core.
It blazed with a red aura, suggesting its grade. Immediately, its brilliance captured everyone’s attention.
"Is that a transcendent core? No way, right?" Hushed voices of players rang out around them.
The Shadow Halberd Guild stared in disbelief as Caelus casually dropped the thing into the dropper.
"Caelus..." Chad also wore an equally baffled look.
"What are you waiting for? Do the calculation."
The assistant nodded and swiftly began working on the computer next to the dropper.
"111 common cores for 5,500 Origin Credits, 52 uncommon cores for 5,200 Origin Credits, 1 rare core for 200 Origin Credits, 1 mutated apex core for 10,000 Origin Credits, and 1 transcendent core for 100,000 Origin Credits."
"The total is 120,950 Origin Credits. Translating it into real-world dollars, it is $1,209.50."
Everyone sucked in a cold breath. $1,209.50 was a huge sum, and that was in a single day.
For a new player, this sum was extraordinary. A normal apex core gave 5,000 Origin Credits, and a transcendent gave 50,000. But due to mutation, the credits received were basically doubled.
It was a sharp increase from 200 per core at rare, but it was natural. Killing an apex was just that hard. Newbies had a hard time doing it. For a more experienced player, the amount they received from it was barely worth mentioning.
"Thank you for your patronage, Mr. Caelus." She bowed to them and spoke politely. "My name is Avni," the assistant added.
"I will be sure to remember that, Avni." Caelus smiled. He then turned to Sylvia. "We will take fifty-fifty."
"What? No." Sylvia swiftly shook her head. "I do not want that."
"No. I have already made up my mind. We will always do fifty-fifty."
He asked Avni to split the Origin Credit transfer into two: 60,475 for him and 60,475 for Sylvia. This roughly gave them $604.75 each.
Adding his existing 30,000 to the 60,475 made it 90,475. The total amount he made today at the Origin Domain was a grand total of $904.75.
Sylvia, who had 33,000, would have a grand total of 93,475 and receive $934.75.
It was enough.
For one day, this was extremely good. They were already earning an average guild player’s income. He read in an article that each guild member reached roughly $1,000 per day for being a member.
It was the dream life, but being recruited was hard. Unlike the Abyss, guilds were also part of the Origin Ascension Domain with their own gameplay elements. Hence, it was harder to get into.
But at the rate they were going, it would not be long before they could make that much per day. The key was the ancient ruins. The map was endless. They just needed to find more ancient ruins and reach the top 10 to generate passive income daily.
He was even more motivated to level up and go out deeper into the domain now.
