Chapter 1305: Chapter 1344: Is It Too Despicable?
Atlas Shaw was taken aback by the words, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. From the sentence, he could feel how deeply Kyle Kinston loved Mabel Quinn. But loving her this deeply, to the point of willing to lay down his life, would he really give her the freedom she deserved? He had his doubts.
"I hope Mr. Kinston can truly act on his words." Atlas Shaw put away his surprise and responded with a faint smile.
The elevator reached the first floor, and the two stepped out, each getting into their respective cars.
Atlas Shaw’s car drove off first, while Kyle Kinston sat in his car, leaning heavily against the seatback. He had told her about the Blood Curse in part to seek her forgiveness, hoping she would understand the real reason he didn’t want her to give birth to the child back then. Sure, there were shadows from his childhood, but there was also the matter of the Kinston Family Blood Curse.
The Kinston Family Blood Curse was something he had not wanted to pass on, yet now, it was destined to be carried forward by his own child. Ivy, this adorable little one who sweetly calls him daddy, kisses him, and seeks his embrace—will she inherit this Blood Curse?
If she does inherit it, then is it possible that Ivy might find her own destiny? As a Kinston Family member, he knows all too well how difficult it is to find one’s destiny. For him and his father, two generations both finding their destinies simultaneously is already quite rare, let alone three generations doing so.
But what good is it that he and his father found their destinies? The relationship between his father and mother was a tragedy. And what about him and Mabel Quinn?
They could have been happy, yet he single-handedly destroyed that happiness.
He told Mabel about the Blood Curse, perhaps also to exploit her sympathy. Is that despicable? That’s what he thinks.
If it were before, he would disdain such sympathy, but now... he feels that even sympathy is acceptable, even if it’s only sympathy; it’s better than her cold rejection, better than her unwillingness to look at him, better than her forever remaining out of his reach.
"Mabel... do you blame me for being too despicable?" he murmured, his slightly hoarse voice drifting through the car with a sigh, "If I could go back to the past and start over, I’d make sure you never shed a tear again."
Sadly, some truths he realized too late.
When he thought he could control the person he loved, control his love, his future, he didn’t know that feelings had never come from control.

Though she intended to rest early, Mabel Quinn still spent a sleepless night, her mind filled with the things Kyle Kinston had said, recalling the manifestations of the Blood Curse she had witnessed, thinking about how perhaps her daughter would one day inherit this curse and suffer immensely.
The next day, Mabel Quinn, with two panda-like eyes, sent her daughter to kindergarten before rushing off to meet the director and continue discussions on matters that should have been settled yesterday.
But as the discussions were nearing completion, and Mabel Quinn was planning to catch up on sleep, the director received a phone call from Ms. Han, requesting her, the director, and other key personnel from the crew to visit the Corporation, stating that there was important news to announce.
Mabel Quinn agreed reluctantly, mustering her energy to join the crew members heading to the Corporation. Upon arrival, Ms. Han was already waiting in the meeting room, but beside Ms. Han sat a figure that appeared familiar to Mabel Quinn.
