Chapter 1300: Chapter 1339: Hospital Examination

If her life was the key to unlocking Kyle Kinston’s pain, then whose life would be the key for Ivy? Who would it be?

"Director, I’m sorry, how about... we discuss this tomorrow? I have an urgent matter today that I need to handle!" Mabel Quinn suddenly stood up and hastily said.

Although the director wasn’t pleased, seeing Mabel Quinn’s uneasy expression, it was apparent she had something pressing; hence he restrained his temper and said, "Okay then, hope you handle it well and it doesn’t affect the work."

"Alright, thank you!" Mabel replied, quickly gathering her things and then driving over to the kindergarten.

She explained to the kindergarten teacher that she’d be taking a leave, then took her daughter to the hospital, intending to give her the most detailed health check-up to determine if she had any illness.

Katherine Quinn looked puzzled, not understanding why Mommy took her to the hospital, insisting to Mabel that she was a healthy baby.

Mabel knew very well that her daughter didn’t like hospitals, just like other kids, afraid of getting shots and such.

Looking at her daughter’s innocent face, Mabel was filled with worry but tried her best to comfort her.

Blood tests were inevitable in the hospital. The little one was unwilling, so Mabel coaxed her, "If Ivy is well-behaved, Mommy will put together a few more ’Kitty Homes’ with you tonight, okay?"

The "Kitty Home" she bought her daughter last time was far from complete. The little one had been tinkering with it but, being just a five-year-old, it was hard to finish it without an adult’s help.

Katherine finally agreed, albeit reluctantly.

During the health check-up, Mabel received a call from Atlas Shaw, "I heard from the director today that you seemed to have something urgent came up. What’s going on, did something happen?"

Hearing this, Mabel knew Atlas had spoken with the director, "Nothing much, I just brought Ivy to the hospital for a check-up."

"Is Ivy sick?" Atlas asked.

"No," Mabel replied, "it’s just a check-up for peace of mind."

"Which hospital, I’ll come over," Atlas said.

"No need, I just thought Ivy hadn’t had a full check-up this year, so I’m taking her for one. She’s not really sick," Mabel replied quickly. "The check-up should be almost done shortly, and I’ll take her home."

"Alright then," Atlas didn’t press further.

After the daughter finished all the check-ups, Mabel drove her towards their neighborhood. Some results would be available soon, but others would take a few days to come out.

From the available results, her daughter seemed perfectly normal and healthy.

But when Mabel brought her daughter into the house, she was surprised to find two men sitting in the living room drinking tea. Mrs. Wu said, "Mr. Kinston came first, then... Mr. Shaw also came over. Anyway, I brewed a cup of tea for both, but neither spoke, making the atmosphere quite awkward."
