A crippling fear and dread struck Alm and Bruno like a celestial bolt. They quickly held onto Ruri almost in desperation, then employed their divine soul to the fullest in search of the cause of it all.

It took two seconds for their hearts to calm down. Their whole soul, mind, and life force seemed to have been sucked into the rune on her forehead. It was something gentle and didn’t seem to have malicious intentions... in fact, it was so compatible with Ruri that it seemed like a part of herself that had come loose and was now merging back again.

The rune was already fixing itself into her mental sea; she would soon return to normal. Once they confirmed that, they turned to the demon. Suddenly, the entire forest seemed to freeze, the world grew darker, and the demon felt as if a god of death was glaring furiously at him.

The air in his lungs froze, and he felt an unmatched pressure coming from that cultivator much weaker than him; his instincts warned him that if this human attacked him, he would never leave alive, no matter what he did.

"Sir, please calm down," the trembling demon murmured, prostrating himself on the ground.

The whale responded dryly, "I hope you have a good explanation for this..."

"Yes, please, see in my memories. I won’t resist; you can check for yourself," the demon quickly spoke, distressed.

The whale snorted and, with gentleness, placed Ruri on his back. In the next instant, his eyes shone. A divine power pierced the demon’s forehead, and he accepted to have his entire soul and memories turned upside down without any ceremony.

The demon’s life was observed by them calmly. The beginning was identical to the other two; he was born completely dominated and as a unique part of a unity with the behemoth’s avatar. In one of the countless battles of the first war, he and the other two were captured along with dozens of others.

In the past, Yamar was someone twisted and immersed in hatred and rebellion. He was born as a slave without even the freedom to think. After being captured and enduring indescribable and hellish torture, it shaped and created his personality and gave him a "freedom," which was like throwing oil on the flames, distorting him even more. The three demons were the only ones to survive this process; and the three were enough to kill his father.

However, shortly after, when he thought he would finally live free, he felt something calling him and trying to dominate him again; it was the behemoth. His mind was never at peace, and he never knew what it was to be himself without someone trying to control him. He hated the world, hated his destiny, hated... hated... wanted to destroy everything and everyone. Surely, he was the most affected of the three demons.

People like him could never live in peace with others; therefore, the second war happened. The change in Yamar occurred in the middle of the second war when he encountered a figure that changed everything... he fought against a human woman who changed his life forever.

This woman had the ethnicity of the Montide people clearly visible, but Alm and Bruno were shocked... she was very... very similar to Ruri. Her aura was quite different; she was like an ice fairy, without emotions and without will... exactly as Almin described Ruri before they returned.

She fought with mental power and sword techniques like no other. Despite being much weaker than the demon in terms of cultivation, she left him in a desperate situation quickly.

Her talent for combat, her intelligence... everything about her seemed terrifying... she only lacked technique; she used her mental power in a crude and unrefined way. However, her will and power were so extreme that the demon was suppressed and almost killed.

He fought out of hatred for everything; but she clearly did not fight for herself, but for her entire people and family. In the end... she died, and he was gravely injured... but he did not emerge victorious; something inside him changed.

At the height of the battle, she unleashed a power that eclipsed the world. It was a mental technique, which she clearly developed on her own. The demon even felt the celestial laws of the world focusing on her attentively, as if they were watching and judging her. That was her own Dao, created by her.

With a swing of her sword, the entire existence of the demon seemed to tremble. The power she unleashed didn’t use her Qi... the fuel for it came from another source... something subtle that was connected to her since birth... her karma.

Karma wasn’t a clear energy; it was like a marking generated by celestial laws on individuals. Karma could be something good or not, but it was always connected to celestial laws.

Alm and Bruno had never seen in their long lives someone who could use this; only after coming to this universe did they see in action Alm’s karmic flames. And then the celestial flame that could interact in different ways with it. But this woman; all the power of her Dao, was fueled by karma, not of others, but her own.

Alm and Bruno understood how she got to this point; the Empyreans family cursed all the people of Montide with their dark karma. This talented woman must have at some point realized this abnormality; then, with such dense karma contaminating her, she managed, with her mental power, a miracle, and interacted with it.

A talent capable of something of this level... was terrifying to the point that the two ancestral beings were stunned.

But what happened next was even more shocking; she didn’t use this Dao to attack. Seeing what the demon saw and feeling what the demon felt, they realized clearly. She was using all possible power for another purpose; she connected with celestial laws through karma.

At that moment, it wasn’t possible to know what she did; she just attacked the demon leaving him in a near-death state. Her sword pierced his heart, and in his eyes, something emptied; it was as if she had cut a part of his soul away.

The demon fell to the ground completely defeated. Then, he noticed the dark skies covered by deadly black clouds; it was a celestial annihilation. In the next instant, a black lightning bolt fell like the end of the world... directly at the woman... she died a bloody death at the hands of the heavens.

But, an oppressive feeling coming from the laws still remained. The demon saw a completely fragmented soul floating, completely chained by black things that made his entire existence tremble. It lasted shortly, and the soul of the woman disappeared...

Only after she died did Yamar feel that he wasn’t her target. But it was belatedly that he felt something within his mental sea. It was a rune that was firmly sealed in his soul by an unbelievable power.

An infinite mental power was within his mind; shortly after, he felt all his troubles, pains, and extreme influences disappear. All his torment was healed... that woman did it for him; but she left behind a violet rune, and along with it, some memories and words.

In the memories, he learned, stunned. She didn’t want to kill, but to save her people, no matter the consequences to herself.

She used all her power to do something considered taboo; she connected to the laws to glimpse the future, through the world’s karma. Her self-created Dao was made with that intention.

She knew of the fate awaiting her family and people at a very young age, so killing the demon was irrelevant. She merely awaited the opportune moment, she saw in the demon an opportunity; she didn’t sense real malice in him, only pain. So she risked everything to help him, trusting that he would repay the favor.

Her power was for single use and at that moment, she saw the future... a distant future... saw a round figure emerge, on a night when the bloody moon was in the sky.

She saw and felt, the destiny and karma of her people were linked to that figure. He was like a god walking among mortals, all the laws and karma of the world moved with him. If he were provoked, the entire planet and life would be destroyed, if he wished, even the celestial laws would bow; but if he desired, even the one responsible for the curse of her people could be destroyed as if it were an insect.

She knew the consequences and didn’t care. Upon seeing the future, she broke a black rule of celestial laws. She would die... but not only that, she would be marked by celestial karma and would be punished for countless reincarnations until she rid herself of it.

This karma created by celestial laws was severe. She, even as a cultivator in other reincarnations, would live very little and was doomed to suffer and die indefinitely. This was if she had the opportunity to cultivate herself; being a fragile mortal who couldn’t cultivate and living to be humiliated was something that would inevitably happen.

She would suffer and suffer... but... she saw the future. A bleak and hopeless life was something that few souls would have enough karma to live through, so she would inevitably return to this planet and live several times among her people again. After going through countless cycles of hellish lives and incarnating in various universes, at the exact moment when that round figure would emerge, she would be incarnated in the same universe and planet.

Despite the severe karma and being very young, she would have the unlikely opportunity to interact with him... just a little help was needed. That was the only way to fulfill her goal, even if she didn’t remember anything, instinctively her soul would seek it.

Reading this through the rune, her last words to the demon sounded. ’I broke the shackles that bound you, in return help me. I will be born as an orphaned little girl, daughter of the royal family of Moonlight. My destiny will be terrible; but, he will be in a clan called Divinestone. Make sure I am near him.’

In her voice, a determination emerged, then an emotional feeling that didn’t seem to match her surfaced. ’On the day of the blood moon, if all goes well, she will come to meet you. I left my rune for you, just return it to me. He is a divine being, but... I feel that we will get along... the Heaven’s Will told me he is kind and good-natured, but at the same time intense and bloodthirsty; it’s like he’s two opposite people.’

The woman and her entire people suffered from a curse imposed by higher beings. Even so, she didn’t revolt against the world or become evil, she used her talent and her curse to find a way; even if it cost much more than anyone could bear.

Yamar examined his body and mind ecstatically. An endless mental power still resided within him. The woman gave him everything she had, and he no longer felt any shackles on his body. His mind stabilized and strengthened, he was now free. And he no longer felt any hatred or distortion... he was completely healed.

After that, he showed himself willing to repay. He lived only to fulfill the wish of the woman whose name he did not know. He tried to redeem his karma by secretly helping and saving various races. To the surprise of Alm and Bruno, even the Grassrunners who currently lived in the sect were saved and taken there by this disguised demon. Without his help, there would be no Grassrunners on this planet.

He protected the people of Montide until the day the Divinestone clan moved to attack them. Officially he couldn’t help, but that was just a convenient excuse. Because of the promise with the other demon, he couldn’t destroy this clan, but he could kill the strongest of them secretly; if he did that, the Moonlight clan would win the invasion.

Obviously, Yamar allowed and quietly observed the entire royal family be killed, except for one orphaned little girl who remained alive. He made sure it was her!

Then, he simply watched from afar and felt the intentions of those humans. Those who intended to kill her were eliminated, including the leader of the Divinestone clan at the time, who was quietly killed by him. Thus, the current leader took over, someone who thought long-term and wanted to bring Ruri to the clan.

Undoubtedly, this thought did not arise in him on his own. The demon, using the mental power received from the woman, influenced that low-cultivation human. After so long, he learned to use that mental power and developed himself, clearly this was only possible because of the existence of the monolith. The power left to him served as a study.

So, all that was left was to wait...

Ruri was left as agreed upon in the Divinestone clan, at the same time when he would emerge. Then, the demon waited for the night of the blood moon, so everything would come to an end.
