A massive dark vortex permeated the entire arena, in a nefarious attraction. In seconds, Calirer stood up, spitting greenish blood in despair; she couldn’t believe what was happening. The poison in her body had been completely suppressed, and it should have been impossible. Then reality became a bit clearer; the poison, the great commotion in the arena, everything was orchestrated.

Calirer’s whole body trembled, and she frantically thought about everything that had happened. Soon, memories from when she was isolated in the mountains, trying to assimilate demonic blood, surfaced.

In a cave, Calirer was very close to the gigantic mountain of the Serpent Wing clan. She had just returned to the abyss after meeting Goku and the others. At that moment, the blood in her body was beginning to show its power, and her soul was sharp. So, thanks to that, in a few days, she felt a fluctuation coming from the Yin of death from a great distance. This should be impossible for someone at her level, and out of pure curiosity and excitement for her evolution, she went to investigate.

Then, to her surprise, she saw a counselor from her clan and a wyvern flying through the skies in a distant direction. She recognized them; they were a couple known to everyone. They clearly noticed her presence but seemed not to care. She then followed the peculiar feeling, and at the foot of a mountain, her vision froze in amazement. Firmly embedded in a fissure in the earth, there was a bestial egg.

The entire surface of the egg was cracked, and its interior was on the verge of exploding. But clearly, that egg was not ready to hatch yet. It was abandoned and thrown from above to its end, but by some miracle or destiny, it survived even though it was almost destroyed.

She couldn’t think straight and just approached the egg, clearly sensing its origin. It had very thin wyvern blood, and at the same time... something was wrong. All of its demonic bloodline was removed.

She connected the obvious dots: that counselor and that Wyvern abandoned this egg after. But they took away its entire demonic bloodline. The only thing that remained was the Wyvern Bloodline in the end. They couldn’t do anything with the Wyvern’s bloodline because it came from a dragon far beyond their level and anyone else’s.

Feeling the interior of the egg, Calirer jumped in shock. A well-formed small body existed... and also... a very weak soul.

She couldn’t believe their cruelty. Sensing the egg, she realized that the miracle of survival wouldn’t last long; that life would die very soon. So, she clenched her fists and didn’t hesitate. Her entire Qi was stirred, and her organs churned, and then she spat out a mouthful of black blood. It was a part of the demonic blood that Goku gave her.

She put everything into the egg, and it absorbed it quickly as if it sensed that it was its only salvation. A few hours passed, and then Calirer anxiously watched the eggshell crack. Inside, a small wyvern emerged, still asleep.

But it didn’t stop growing... taking two days to halt. When it finally finished, it was still small for a wyvern. But the demonic blood caused its body to develop explosively.

Calirer smiled, feeling the healthy heartbeat of the little Wyvern, then spoke gently. "It’s an overwhelming advantage to have bestial blood. Even after birth, if properly nurtured, the body develops into an adult quickly; too bad the intelligence and maturity remain that of a baby. Well, lacking a name... Runulos!"

Months passed, and it was exactly as she had imagined. The Wyvern had an almost adult body but was a newborn mentally. During its cultivation, she worked hard to teach it, and it crossed realms each month, quickly reaching the Core Formation Realm, and only there did Runulos stop, reaching its limit.

After almost a year, it finally managed to transform into a human form. At that moment, Calirer belatedly realized her mistake. "It was a girl... well, Runula then."

After she achieved this form, they returned to the clan. There were wyvern-demon hybrids in the clan, so there shouldn’t be any problems. She was an ordinary and relatively unknown cultivator; just saying she had an affair with a wyvern and had a daughter would be enough. No one would think much about it.

She then focused on fully assimilating the demon’s blood; she lost about 30% of the blood Goku gave her. That blood was so powerful that it practically brought the little Runula back from the dead and elevated her cultivation and body to great heights.

Even after losing a significant part of her blood, Calirer’s cultivation exploded, and she advanced more than a complete realm. Exactly one year later, her soul power multiplied hundreds of times thanks to the blood. Her perception became so powerful that she could even sense the clan leader from a distance, but she couldn’t go too far because he would feel her.

Soon, the doubt came; why was little Runula abandoned so cruelly? Calirer planned to take over the leadership, so the best time to investigate this was now when she was nobody, and others didn’t care about her.

She then sneaked around and used her now powerful soul to investigate the advisers. Her cultivation was almost the same as theirs, but her soul was tens of times more powerful than theirs, and they would never notice her.

That’s how she discovered the clan leader’s plans, along with all the advisers. They first crossed with the wyverns, creating several eggs in an attempt to produce a powerful descendant who would master both clans’ techniques. This had been going on for centuries, and they never made any progress.

Everything was being done in an attempt for the two clans to become something greater, and Calirer shared the same desire. But there were very few hybrids of these two races in the clan. And with Runula’s condition when she found her in the egg, she was sure there was something more.

The answer came quickly. That single adviser, who was Runula’s mother, was the one from which Calirer found the whole truth. About three hundred years ago, after many failures, they realized that this wouldn’t work, and a new plan was created.

The eggs generated from this mixture were born with dragon and demon blood in intense conflict. But at the same time, this conflict elevated the demon blood. A demon had a primitive and instinctive will for power and strength; with another powerful blood in total conflict, the demonic bloodline ignited and rose in an attempt to suppress the other bloodline. With this, even before birth, the demon blood already had a much higher level than average. But, of course, this was useless for that hybrid, as the dragon blood would always activate as a sovereign and prevent the demon blood from showing its potential.

So, the new plan was simple. Make as many eggs as possible, and before they are born, take their demonic bloodline. It was an agreement between the two clans. Thus, all the high-ranking members on both sides could absorb a dense demonic bloodline and strengthen themselves. It wasn’t the initial idea, but the results were explosively emerging. The level of the advisers greatly increased, and they were already planning a confrontation with a demon clan above them.

Calirer was horrified, but now she could put an end to this. So this was a godsend, and she cultivated to the limit and demanded a battle against the higher-ups furiously.

Disputes like these happened almost once a year and involved all the advisers, who were obliged to fight openly to maintain their positions. Sometimes, even the clan leader had to fight, and all clan demons who deemed themselves capable could challenge them. But, of course, it was just a show, and the advisers never lost.

When Calirer arrived, it was a true spectacle for everyone. Even a few levels below, she defeated them overwhelmingly, thanks to the power of the fully assimilated demonic blood. Obviously, she didn’t kill the advisers to avoid harming the clan.

But she had to defeat the vice-leader to then be able to fight the clan leader. So the fight took place in the arena, which was crowded and lively. She had moderate difficulty, but she could win without any problems. It was only in the final blow that she realized something was wrong with her body. It was poison.

She then turned to the vice-leader and noticed his smile. From the stands, she noticed another nefarious look. She saw Runula’s mother, and subtly, something seemed wrong. Using her powerful soul, she was able to perceive it belatedly. There were many hidden and invisible presences around.

She was familiar with this technique and had almost died several times before. It was the work of illusory demons, a clan slightly above them. What was this clan doing helping the little Soul Eaters? The answer was obvious; the rivalry among demon clans was severe. It was common for some clans to unite to plot the destruction of others. Since the Soul Eaters were already close to the upper levels, they were recruited to truly finish off the higher-ups. They were just being used, and in the future, they would be plotted against equally; but who cared? They would rise with it, and in the future, they could finish off the others.

Just thinking that far, Calirer saw her mistake. Someone rising to the sky out of nowhere, like a dragon like her. Considering that these advisers had been fighting for centuries to rise, they would obviously search everything about her.

Of course, she had thought about it before. But really, she was nobody, and they wouldn’t find anything, and they would never know the origin of her strength. But... that adviser saw her on that day when she abandoned Runula still as an egg. That was a loophole, and Runula was easily investigated in the shadows.

With the connection from that more powerful clan, they simply asked a favor from one of their powerful advisers, and he came to use his high-level illusion techniques. That’s why Calirer couldn’t notice anything before.

Calirer then exploded in rage, even poisoned, and brutally ended the vice-leader. She expected the leader or the advisers to take some action, but they didn’t move, to her total surprise. So, she simply left with Runula as fast as she could.

In the midst of the black mountains, already far from the clan, she used her soul to investigate Runula’s memories. She was childish and simple, and it was easy with the trust they had. Then she confirmed there was a rune blocking her memories; Runula was caught at some point, and they read all her memories.

Calirer thought deeply. She only reached this level thanks to the blood she received from Goku, and she could only save Runula thanks to that same blood. Goku trusted that she could help him. And she really had everything for it.

Her clan was everything to her, and her desire to bring it back to its past glory was no less than anyone else’s. For demons from one of the weakest clans of all, the unity of all to survive was essential. For Calirer, they were all brothers helping each other, and Calirer believed that they just wanted the best for the clan. But they used the wrong means.

Demons were creatures that did nefarious things without caring about anything, but they were not irrational. In Runula’s memories, there was no reason and motive for her power to have grown so fast. So, because they let her leave the arena and didn’t do anything really serious against Runula, everything indicated that the leader had no reason not to follow the rules; the poison she received came from the vice leader’s bloodline and was not against the rules.

After accepting this naive resolution, Calirer asserted her conviction. But when Runula woke up and the rune in her memories was undone, she remembered the whole moment when she was captured.

The one who captured her was indeed a powerful demon from another clan, but along with him were her mother and father. They conducted a test to confirm they were the parents, and thus, Runula discovered the truth from their own mouths. She was a useless failure, and they abandoned her to die.

It took several days for Calirer to comfort the little girl. In the end, Calirer did not forgive her parents for doing something like that and even saying those words directly to her. So, she sent Runula away while she sorted things out. Goku and his group were young disciples, and as abnormal as they were, it would still take a month or two for them to reach the clan alongside Runula. Sweet mistake...

Back to the current moment...

Seeing Calirer’s contorted face, the clan leader chuckled, using the soul-devouring ability as slowly as possible, savoring every moment. Then, he spoke cheerfully:

"I really didn’t believe you would be so naive as to come back and continue the dispute against me. But master was right, hahahahahah."

Calirer narrowed her eyes. ’Master... so that’s why he and so many wyverns could become invisible and use the techniques of illusory demons. The leader was completely coerced...’ Then, her mind clicked. ’This... the illusory demons don’t just want to make us destroy other clans without taking risks. They want to completely absorb both clans and elevate themselves.’

Everything became clear, and Calirer’s despair was transmitted directly to the clan leader, who laughed even more fervently and said:

"It was an excellent opportunity that master created. You are here, and all the most powerful members of both clans have come to watch the fight. If you have any pride, be part of this! Now we can increase our power by leaps and bounds, and finally, we will start the comeback of the Soul Eaters!"

’Naive... idiot... greedy...’ Calirer writhed in despair in the midst of her thoughts. ’He is totally enchanted by power and has no idea that he is destroying the clan forever. Killing our own brothers to become stronger? How can he...’

All of Calirer’s will and hope faded from her body, and she knelt with empty eyes. At that moment, the clan leader snorted; the fun ended quickly. He then activated the technique to the limit, and everyone in the arena, who had previously been dominated by the power of the illusory demon technique, writhed.

With her lack of will, the poison finally hit Calirer completely, and she felt her life fading rapidly. In her mind, the image of a young Langrum, whom she accidentally helped after a mission on the surface, passed by. Next came her recently acquired daughter, Runula. And then... for some reason she couldn’t understand, the image of a round and abnormal being appeared.

Calirer sighed, murmuring, "A whale demon in the final moments, how depressing..."

"Hmph! Sorry for being depressing." Calirer heard those words and would have jumped if she could move. Immediately, she felt a warm sensation running through her body. Then, she looked astonished as a celestial blue aura immediately purified all the poison from her body.

She turned around in shock and saw... Runula, Langrum, and everyone... even the demon whale.

"Since you’re kneeling, you gotta pray." The whale spoke with a playful look. "If you start worshiping me and help increase my followers, we can negotiate a bit."
