Chapter 143: Scorpius Island! Examination!
While Chen Xuan and Chi Yao were purchasing items—and the so-called hairpin treasure—the other two bodies born from his Yin-Yang Vision continued with their "lives" as usual.
The righteous body was simple enough. Resting within the courtyard assigned by the Island Owner, it merely sat with its eyes closed, giving off the impression that it remained in seclusion.
The demonic body, however, was far more adventurous.
In only a couple of hours, it had already left Misty Lotus Island far behind.
There were no other humans around it. Aside from the boundless ocean, only sea beasts and flying beasts filled its surroundings.
Just like the ones Chen Xuan had encountered before, most of them were weak. Of course, that was only when measured against his current strength.
For ordinary cultivators, and even for many Core Formation experts, stepping into this sea of rioting beasts would be no different from courting death.
But for demonic Chen Xuan, the appearance of these beasts was not only not a threat, but was actually a supreme opportunity.
--
A pitch-black banner appeared in Chen Xuan’s right hand. The dark mist coiling around it seemed to resonate with his demonic nature, while mournful screams echoed faintly from within.
Chen Xuan looked at the beasts surrounding him before gently waving the banner.
No ghosts emerged from the flag. Instead, the black mist surged outward and transformed into thousands of chains that shot toward the beasts.
The sea beasts had no room to resist.
They could only watch helplessly as the chains pierced their bodies, devoured their flesh, and then tore their souls away into the banner.
After killing them, the chains did not return to the banner. Rather, they swept toward nearby beasts, killing, devouring, and harvesting them in turn.
Within only a few breaths, a long path had been carved open before Chen Xuan.
Wherever he passed, beasts perished in droves, while the number of ghosts within the Myriad Souls Banner continued to rise little by little.
As he watched the treasure grow stronger, Chen Xuan couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
’It truly deserves to be the Myriad Souls Sect’s most famous weapon. Even compared to the Death-Binding Ring, whose forging method has long been lost, the Myriad Souls Banner may be even more terrifying.’
’At the very least, the Death-Binding Ring’s power depends heavily on the corpse one manages to obtain. The Myriad Souls Banner, on the other hand, can improve itself endlessly as long as it is fed enough souls and other treasures.’
’Given enough time, and enough sacrifices, it might not be impossible for it to become an immortal weapon.’
Though many thoughts passed through Chen Xuan’s mind, his movements never paused. He continued opening a path through the sea of beasts, steadily drawing closer to his destination.
It didn’t take long. With the speed of a Nascent Soul cultivator, less than two hours were enough for him to reach his goal.
It was an island.
There were no traces of human settlements upon it, nor could any human aura be sensed anywhere nearby.
However, its situation was different from that of Starlink Island. The absence of humans was not the result of the beast riot.
Rather, there had never been any humans here to begin with.
As Chen Xuan looked down and examined its outline, which resembled a giant scorpion, with two protruding "claws" at the front and a curved stinger-like tail at the rear, he knew he had come to the right place.
Scorpius Island.
The place where both hairpins were said to have been discovered.
Chen Xuan had learned that much from Chi Yao.
Then, after questioning the Myriad Treasures Pavilion’s clerk, he confirmed that Master Tieyu had also been wandering near this area before stumbling upon the second hairpin.
Once, it could be dismissed as a coincidence or even someone lying.
But when two separate sources independently pointed toward the same location, Chen Xuan had no choice but to suspect that something was hidden here.
That was why he had sent the demonic body to investigate.
While using the Myriad Souls Banner to continue clearing away the surrounding beasts, the demonic body slowly descended and landed on the island.
Its divine sense spread outward, enveloping the entire island as it began searching for anything unusual.
Unfortunately, the effort yielded no results.
Even after his divine sense drilled deep underground and swept through the earth for hundreds of miles, it found absolutely nothing of value.
Still, Chen Xuan did not feel too disappointed. He had already expected that uncovering any hidden secret would not be so easy.
After confirming there was nothing on the island itself, he directed the demonic clone to search the surrounding seas instead.
Little by little, the waters around Scorpius Island were explored.
At the same time, the Myriad Souls Banner continued to grow stronger, devouring beast after beast and swallowing their souls into its depths.
--
Only a small portion of Chen Xuan’s mind was focused on controlling the demonic clone, just enough for it to fully display its full strength.
The greater part of his consciousness remained with his true body.
After returning to the courtyard and sending Chi Yao away, he reviewed the condition of both clones and nodded in satisfaction, reassured that everything was proceeding smoothly.
He did not replace the righteous body. Instead, he continued to let it remain in the courtyard, acting in his stead.
As for his true body, it entered the Seven Trials Tower, intending to examine today’s harvest in peace.
Sitting not far from the Four Myths Cauldron, Chen Xuan waved his hand. Several items flew out of his spatial ring and landed before him.
Among them were the two hairpins, one of which he had just purchased and the other that Chi Yao had given him not long ago.
Their bodies emitted a faint glow, and the strange resonance between them had only grown stronger after being placed together.
Chen Xuan narrowed his eyes. He leaned closer subconsciously, and his divine sense examined them.
