Chapter 98: Eclipse Auction House

After playing cards, Ren and the others traveled to the Eclipse Auction House. Forty minutes later, they reached their destination.

The moment they stepped inside, Lily and David’s eyes widened in amazement. The place was split into two sections: ordinary and VIP.

Ordinary guests stayed on the first floor, while VIPs were brought up to the second.

The difference in treatment was like heaven and earth.

VIP guests got free drinks, fresh fruit, and even a personal attendant, while ordinary ones got nothing.

The reason was simple.

They were people who had spent a lot of money there.

Yes, that was the condition to become a VIP.

They didn’t care how strong or rich you were. If you hadn’t spent enough money in their auction house before, you would be treated like ordinary guests.

Since the Ashford family had spent a lot there, the attendant led Virelia and the others straight to the VIP area.

David and Lily didn’t hold back.

The moment they stepped into their private room, they quickly grabbed the fruit and drinks, enjoying everything like they owned the place.

"Hehe." Virelia giggled softly at their behavior.

She didn’t scold them or get annoyed.

It was their first time in the auction house, so she let them do whatever they wanted.

While David and Lily were enjoying themselves, Ren skimmed his surroundings. He saw many people standing in every corner of the hall.

Some of them even didn’t bother hiding their weapons.

From their appearance and behavior, he could tell that they were guards assigned to control the situation.

’I hope I can get something good later.’

As he swept his gaze around, a gorgeous, mature lady walked toward the platform.

Everyone instantly stopped talking and turned their gaze toward her.

"Miss Angeline is as beautiful as ever."

"Damn right!"

"If only I were her husband. I would definitely smile in my sleep."

"No wonder her name is Angeline. It’s because she is as beautiful as an angel."

"But to me, she is like a succubus queen. Look at her body! It’s so sexy and captivating, to the point that it makes me unable to take my eyes off her."

"I can’t deny that."

"Haha!"

Most men on the first floor praised her continuously.

Angeline was clad in a refined, form-fitting dress with a blazer over her shoulders.

The design was elegant and appropriate for her role, but the way it hugged her figure made it hard for anyone to look away.

Her long, blue hair descended to her waist like a waterfall, and her red eyes were as beautiful as glowing rubies.

Her oval face matched perfectly with her pointed nose, and her big breasts made her body look much sexier.

When most men were mesmerized by her beauty, Ren could still control himself. All the women around him were no less attractive than her, so her charm barely affected him.

’The owner of this place has a good eye for talent.’

Angeline was indeed an expert at creating the atmosphere.

Her glances and smiles even could make the price of the item shoot up like crazy. It could be said the atmosphere within the hall was kept at a climax with her charming smile.

Currently, Angeline was using her captivating voice to describe an artifact in her hands. Under the enchanting and clear sound of her voice, the item’s price rose rapidly.

Every time the price was raised, she would send a charming smile to the person who just called out the latest price.

And that person would forget the pain of overpaying because her smile was like magic to men.

After auctioning the defensive artifact, Angeline said, "Everyone, I’m sure you all will be interested in the next item."

With a wave of her hand, an attendant stepped forward, holding a spell book in a beautiful wooden box.

"This magic book is called Lightning Cloak. It’s an Intermediate-rank spell." Angeline gave a short explanation of the item.

The chatter erupted again.

All the lightning mages in the hall were immediately tempted, since it was a good defensive spell with a passive attack.

"Little brother, are you interested in it?" Virelia asked.

"Yes." Ren nodded. "I don’t have any defensive magic or innate abilities, so I want it."

He could cover his body in lightning when he fought magical beasts in the park, but the lightning also struck him, so it wasn’t good for defense.

"Then, join the bid." Virelia didn’t tell him that she would help him get it.

"I will." He replied.

Angeline was pleased with their reaction. "The starting price is $12,000, and each increment must be at least $100."

"$13,000." Right after her voice stopped, a green-haired man yelled out a price.

"$13.500." Another price came right after the first price had been called.

"$14,000." The blue-haired man raised his bidder number.

The price quickly went up, and within a couple of seconds, it reached $20,000. At this moment, Ren was still in the bidding.

He had sold two Intermediate-rank spell books five months ago, so he had $32,000 in his space ring.

The price went up again, but soon the voice died out when a young man around nineteen years old yelled out a price. "$29,000."

That person was someone from the VIP area. He was sitting on the opposite side of Ren and the others.

He had blue hair and red eyes.

He also had three bodyguards standing behind him.

His name was none other than Adrian Knox, the son of the leader of the Crimson Fangs faction, one of the strongest and most famous organizations in the Arden district.

Everyone on the first floor immediately looked up at him. Even though some of them could still compete, they didn’t raise the price.

Adrian could sit on the second floor, so they knew he was not from an ordinary family.

"$29,100." Ren didn’t give up like the others.

"$30,000," Adrian called out a price again.

Ren let out a sigh of helplessness.

He could not compete with Adrian anymore because he only had $32,000. If he raised the price, he would have no money to eat, pay bills, or handle emergencies.

’It seems like that spell book isn’t meant for me.’

He wanted it so much, but he also needed to think about his daily expenses and future needs.

Adrian’s lips curled up into a smirk.

’Hmph! You want to compete with me? You’re not worthy of this young master!’

The grin on his face widened when he noticed Ren looking at him.

"Mr Adrian has bid $30,000. Is there anyone who wishes to raise the price?" Angeline skimmed the guests.

"Are you not going to stop bidding?" Virelia asked.

"I don’t have enough money." Ren gave an honest answer.

"Do you want that spell book so much?" she threw another question at him.

Ren didn’t reply, but he nodded his head.

"Then, leave the rest to this big sister." From her point of view, it was time to step in since he could not compete anymore.

"What?! You want to buy it for me?" his eyes widened in shock.

Virelia didn’t answer and yelled out a price. "$31,000."

"Zara, stop it. You don’t need to do this." He didn’t want to trouble her for his sake.

She turned to him. "Didn’t you say you wanted it so badly?"

"Yeah, but..." He felt guilty because he had received too much help from her.

It was like he befriended her for her money.

"It’s fine. This big sister has a lot of money, so just sit back and watch how this big sister wins that spell book for you." She was sure she would not lose.

"$31,100." Adrian raised the price.

"$32,000." Virelia raised her bidder number.

Adrian’s expression darkened. "$32,100."

"$33,000." She yelled out a price again.

"$33,100." Since he wanted to make sure that Virelia would not raise the price again, he shot her a cold glare, hoping it could scare her.

"$34,000." Virelia noticed it, but she acted like she saw nothing.

Adrian clenched his fist before finally speaking, "$34,100."

"$37,000." Right after he called out a price, she raised it immediately.

Adrian was breathless with anger, and his hands were trembling with rage.

Not only did she ignore his warning, but she also raised the price much higher than before, as if she was mocking him.

"$37,100." He didn’t want to lose it, so he kept bidding.

"Young master, you should stop," the blue-haired bodyguard named Julian said abruptly. "The price is already above market value."

"That’s right, young master." The red-haired man named Maxwell added. "It’s not worth it."

"Young master, we still need to buy that artifact. It’s better to stop now." Zion spoke.

"That woman is mocking me! I must teach her a lesson!" Adrian was aware of it, but he would not stop, as it was related to his pride as a man and the son of the leader of the Crimson Fangs faction.

"$40,000," Virelia said.

"$40,100." After raising the price, Adrian turned to Virelia. "Woman, I suggest you don’t raise it again."

Virelia ignored him once more. "$42,000."

"You are planning to give the spell book to him, right?" Since he failed, he changed the target to Ren. "Hey, don’t you feel embarrassed having a woman bid for you?"

"What’s wrong with that? There’s no rule that says I can’t bid for him." Virelia defended Ren.

"That’s right." David supported her. "We are in the auction house. You talk with money here."

"Just stop bidding if you don’t have money anymore." Lily joined the fun.

Adrian gritted his teeth in fury.

’Damn it! How dare they look down on me!’

His anger grew bigger when he saw Lily and David smirking.

’I must teach them a lesson!’
