Chapter 99: Quarrelling with Adrian
"$42,100." Adrian raised the price.
"$45,000." Ren really wanted the Lightning Cloak spell book, so Virelia would get it no matter what happened.
"Hey, you! Don’t you have any pride as a man?" Adrian chose to mock Ren again. "Or are you her boy toy?"
Ren was furious, but he said nothing because causing a ruckus there would ruin her reputation.
"Hey, stop talking nonsense." Virelia was enraged when Adrian decided to target Ren once more. "If you are not happy, why don’t you look for a rich woman and ask her to bid for you?"
"Zara, look at his face!" David sneered at Adrian. "There is no way a wealthy woman would ever want him."
"Exactly!" Lily added with a mocking smile. "He is so ugly. I’m sure any woman would run the moment he gets close."
"Hehe." Ren and Elara could not help but giggle.
’They are so bad!’
They knew Lily and David had sharp tongues, but they never expected them to go that far.
"How dare you say that!" Adrian’s face was red from anger.
It was the first time someone had dared to mock him, so rage flowed through him like lava.
"What makes you think I wouldn’t dare?" Lily was not afraid of him.
"Who do you think you are?" David rose from his seat. "Do you really think you are important enough for us to watch our words around you?"
"I’m the son of the leader of the Crimson Fangs faction," Adrian revealed his background. "Do you want to die?"
"The Crimson Fangs faction? I’ve never heard of it." Lily put on a sneering expression.
"Since it’s not famous, I’m sure it’s just some unknown, insignificant group." David mocked them.
Adrian and his bodyguards were simmering with anger.
Even though their organization was not the strongest, it was still one of the top groups in the Arden District, so their anger flared when a bunch of kids dared to insult them.
"It seems like I have to teach you a lesson." Adrian could not suppress his anger anymore.
But before he and his underlings rushed toward Lily’s group, Angeline’s voice rang out. "Mr. Adrian, fighting is not allowed here. Please sit back in your seat."
The Eclipse Auction House had powerful backers, so they were not afraid of the Crimson Fangs faction.
Adrian gritted his teeth before finally sitting back in his seat.
"Young master, let them laugh for now. We will beat them up after the auction." In Zion’s eyes, it was not the right time to teach them a lesson.
"I agree, young master." Maxwell was also enraged, but he decided to suppress his anger. "Let’s focus on our goal. We will deal with them later."
"Young master, they are only at 1-star. I can beat them alone easily." Julian could tell how strong they were. "You can vent your anger on them later. You can even torture them if you want to."
Adrian remembered their main goal. "You are right. Father told me to get the Titan Ring artifact no matter what. I will spare them this time."
"Mister Adrian, do you still want to bid?" Angeline inquired.
"No." After answering, Adrian turned to Ren.
’Keep it safe because I will take it back after this.’
He added in mind.
"Tch! He is not fun!" Lily was disappointed.
Angeline looked at the audience. "Is there anyone who wants to raise the price?"
None of them called out for a price.
There were still many items, so they decided to save their money for the next stuff.
Since no one was bidding anymore, Angeline hit her small hammer on the table and smiled softly. "Congratulations to Miss Virelia. You can take the spell book immediately."
The attendant quickly left the private room.
A moment later, she returned with the spell book and a POS machine.
"Miss, this is your item," the attendant said politely.
"Here." Virelia took it while she handed her card to the attendant.
After the payment was successful, the attendant returned to stand behind them again.
"Now, we will be auctioning the next item." Angeline’s charming voice echoed in the hall.
As soon as she gave a sign, her attendant brought up a ring that was placed in a small yet elegant wooden box.
"This artifact is called the Titan Ring." Angeline carefully held it up. "It was found in a Rank 4 gate. It grants the wearer enhanced raw strength and improved physical durability."
Adrian and his bodyguards focused on the ring carefully, since it was the item their leader had tasked them to obtain, no matter what.
After Angeline described the Titan Ring, the hall was once again filled with excited cheers.
"Lady Angeline, can you set the bottom price already?" one of the guests on the first floor said.
While still showing her charming smile, Angeline answered, "The bottom price is $30,000, and each increment must be at least $250."
The Titan Ring was more expensive than the Lightning Cloak spell book because its effect was always active as long as the wearer kept it on.
"$31,000," Adrian yelled out a price.
"It’s him again!" Several people on the first floor looked at him in annoyance.
"I want that Titan Ring!" Adrian declared. "Anyone who dares to raise the price will become an enemy of the Crimson Fangs faction."
He used his background to threaten them.
’Good! With this, I can get that artifact for sure.’
A satisfied smile spread across his face as he saw everyone’s expressions.
Ren shifted his gaze to the Titan Ring before returning his attention to Adrian.
’He seems like he wants it so badly.’
A cunning idea suddenly popped up in his mind.
He leaned in closer to Virelia and said in a low voice, "Zara, it looks like he is here for that item. Let’s make him lose big."
Her lips curled up into a sly smile as she glanced at him. "Sure."
"Is there anyone who wants to raise the price?" Angeline asked.
No one called out a bid since they didn’t want to offend the Crimson Fangs faction.
Angeline was unhappy with how the auction was going.
But even so, she didn’t voice it out as it was not prohibited to use power or background to intimidate others.
’It looks like we will only get a very small profit this time.’
Just as she was about to hit her small hammer on the table, Ren raised his bidder number.
"$32,000." Ren would make Adrian pay the price for mocking him, but not in a violent way.
Adrian instantly turned to Ren.
’It’s him again?!’
Rage pulsed through his veins.
"Hey, boy toy, you already got the spell book. Why do you still want that artifact?" Adrian smoldered with resentment.
"Why not? I like that item, so I want it too." Ren was still calm despite being called a boy toy. "And like you said, I have a rich sugar mama. It will be a pity if I don’t take advantage of it."
Elara, Lily, and David were stunned by his words.
After Virelia explained his plan in the chat group, they finally understood the meaning behind his actions.
’He is so bad!’
But even so, they supported his malicious idea.
Adrian gritted his teeth. "$33,000."
"$43,000." Ren raised the price to a whole new level.
Fury roared through Adrian’s mind. "$44,000."
"$50,000." Ren calmly yelled out his price.
"Boy toy!" Adrian roared, causing his voice to reverberate in the hall.
"$55,000." Ren increased the price once more.
"Boy toy, do you want to die?" Adrian was trembling with rage.
One by one, everyone present turned to look at Adrian. All people who hated his behavior enjoyed the show very much.
Not only them, but Angeline was also thrilled.
Of course, her reason was different from theirs. Adrian almost ruined her auction earlier, so she liked what Ren was doing.
"$60,000." Ren would raise the price every time Adrian yelled at him.
Adrian’s eyes were bloodshot. "$61,000."
"$62,000," Ren said calmly.
"$63,000." After saying that, Adrian shot a cold glare at Ren. "I dare you to raise the price again!"
"Sure!" Ren accepted the challenge. "$70,000."
Adrian was breathless with anger. "$71,000."
"$72,000." Ren raised it again.
Adrian turned to Virelia and shouted, "Hey, woman. Are you really going to let him do whatever he wants?"
"Why not? It’s only $72,000." Virelia was a famous singer, so it was nothing to her.
Adrian clenched his fist. "$73,000."
"$74,000," Ren said.
While Ren was toying with Adrian, Angeline smiled happily.
The Eclipse Auction House would be the one to benefit the most from their quarrel, so she hoped they would not stop.
Adrian could not control his rage anymore and shouted, "$100,000."
He raised the price to a whole new level.
"I dare you to bid again!" Adrian pointed his right index finger at Ren.
"$100,000 is too much, so I won’t raise the price anymore." His goal had been achieved, so Ren decided to stop playing. "Congratulations. You won the bid."
When Adrian saw Ren’s smile, he finally realized that he had been fooled.
"Fuck you! I will kill you!" Before he could attack Ren, he was stopped by his bodyguards.
"Hehe." Angeline could not help but giggle softly.
’He is so bad!’
She added in her mind.
Not only her, but everyone also liked it since it was a good punishment for an arrogant person like him.
"Congratulations! You are so rich and amazing!" Lily and David clapped their hands while mocking his stupidity.
"Don’t stop me! I want to kill them now!" Adrian was burning with fury because they had forced him to pay far more than he should have.
"Young master, please calm down," Julian said. "After we beat them to death, you can take their space rings. That way, your losses will be repaid."
"That’s right, young master," Maxwell added. "You can also take his spell book later, so please be patient for a little longer."
Adrian controlled his emotions and sat back in his seat.
’Just you wait! I will make you regret it later.’
