Chapter 96: The Birth of His First Skill

Aria glanced at Veronica, but said nothing. She was too lazy to entertain her childish provocations.

Since Aria ignored her, Veronica read the book again.

A moment later, she realized something.

’Hmm?’

She touched her chin.

’What if I change them and use this symbol instead?’

She quickly made a new formation.

Once she was done, she handed it to him. "Ren, try this."

He turned into his beast form and activated the formation in his head.

The moment his claws struck the training dummy, his lightning burst from his fingers, surging into it and striking the inside.

Ren leaned in and checked the result.

When he saw the scorch marks, his heart raced with excitement.

"Teacher, the lightning struck the inside of the dummy." His eyes lit up as he approached her.

"Does that mean we’ve succeeded?" Veronica asked with a happy expression.

"We’re already ninety percent there!" he told her that the lightning didn’t spread inside it, but pierced it like a blade.

It was not bad.

It just was not what he wanted.

Attacks that pierced and those that spread were different.

The former focused on penetration.

It could be deadly if it hit a vital area like the heart, but the latter was better as it caused damage throughout the entire body.

It was like destroying his enemy from the inside.

Veronica quickly recreated the magic circle. "Here."

Ren nodded and tried it again.

The moment his lightning surged into the dummy, a crackling sound echoed in his ears. The dummy trembled slightly as faint smoke rose from it.

When he saw the dark burn marks spread inside, he failed to control the happiness within him.

He rushed toward Veronica, lifted her, and spun her with a happy expression. "Teacher, we did it! The lightning spread inside the dummy!"

Veronica’s surprised face blossomed into a smile.

’He is so happy!’

Actually, she was startled by his actions, but she decided not to mention it as she understood his feelings well.

Aria and the others turned to him in shock.

They knew he wanted to create his own skills so badly, but they never expected him to get so excited that he lifted her and spun her around without thinking twice.

When Ren came to his senses, he immediately put her down. "Teacher, I’m sorry. I’m thrilled, so..."

He could not finish his words because he was still filled with embarrassment.

"It’s fine. I can understand it." Veronica smiled softly before finally glancing at Aria.

A glimmer of annoyance appeared in Aria’s chest. Even though Veronica didn’t say it directly, she understood the meaning behind her glance.

Veronica was telling her that she had a much better relationship with Ren than she did.

Of course, she was unhappy.

But she chose not to say anything as it was better to remain silent.

"My leader is amazing, right?" Ravenna praised Veronica. "She only needed five months to help him create his own skill. I’m sure no one in this world can do that."

"Tch!" Cassandra clicked her tongue.

"Ren, do you want to try your skill on a monster?" Veronica asked.

Training dummies were not living beings, so they could not clearly measure how powerful his skill really was.

"But there is no magical beast here." he didn’t want to enter a gate just to test it, as it was too much in his eyes.

Veronica smiled. "Don’t worry abo-"

Before Veronica had finished her words, Aria interrupted her. "Ren, we have many beasts in our organization. I can bring out one of them to be your opponent if you want."

She would not let Veronica be the only one helping him. It would make her look like she was useless as his leader.

"Really?" Ren was pleasantly surprised by her offer.

Aria didn’t answer and turned to her subordinate. "Cassandra, go back and bring one of the beasts here."

"Understood, leader." After replying politely, Cassandra left right away.

An hour later, she returned.

She didn’t come by car like before.

Instead, she arrived riding a massive white bird.

A three-meter white ape was inside a cage, while Cassandra sat on top of it with her arms crossed over her chest.

After the massive bird landed on the ground, Cassandra jumped down and approached Aria.

"Leader, I’ve returned." Cassandra had chosen the white ape since it was the strongest among all the 1-star beasts.

Aria gave a small nod before turning to Ren. "Your opponent is here. You can use it whenever you want."

"Then, please release him. I want to fight him immediately." Ren could not wait to test his own skill.

He wanted to see how strong his technique was against magical beasts.

"Cassandra, release it." Aria gave an order.

Cassandra leaped onto the bird, grabbed the cage with one hand, and jumped down.

"Roar..." The white ape knew it was being used for training, so it let out an angry roar.

"Oh! Are you angry? Then, I will let you go now." After saying that, Cassandra opened the iron cage.

Ren shifted into his partial transformation and walked toward it slowly.

’Now let me test it.’

Blue lightning enveloped his arms as his eyes were locked on his opponent.

The white ape rushed toward Ren immediately. It wanted to show Cassandra that choosing it was a big mistake.

"Roar!" The white ape tried to catch Ren and squeeze him to death.

But before its massive hands could reach him, Ren dashed forward and launched an attack.

*Shhk...

The moment Ren’s claws struck it, lightning spread throughout its body from the wounds and attacked its internal organs.

"Roar..." the white ape cried out in pain before finally dropping to its knees.

A moment later, its body collapsed on the ground, and it died instantly.

"Died?" Ren was pleasantly surprised.

He had expected his skill to be powerful, but he never thought it could kill the white ape almost instantly.

’Is it because he was only at 1-star?’

A question flashed through his mind.

Like him, the others were also stunned and happy.

They previously thought the white ape would only be heavily injured and unable to fight, but they were wrong because it died shortly after being hit by him.

Even though the white ape was only a 1-star magical creature, it was still enough to prove that his skill was deadly.

Veronica approached him with a soft smile on her face. "Congratulations, Ren. Your creation technique is lethal."

Ren turned into his original form and turned around to face her. "This is all thanks to your help, teacher."

"Do you want to try facing a 2-star beast?" Veronica gave the offer for two reasons.

First, Ren was not an ordinary awakener. She believed he would not die easily against a 2-star beast.

And lastly, she wanted to know the limit of his skill.

Was it still deadly against a stronger opponent?

"Let’s do that next time." He refused right away. "How about we hold a small party now?"

It was a good day for him, so he wanted to celebrate it.

"Sure." Veronica agreed right away.

Cassandra moved closer to Aria and asked, "Leader, what should we do? Should we join them or not?"

She wanted to celebrate Ren’s success in creating his own technique, but she didn’t want to have a party with someone from the Nexus Organization.

Aria didn’t answer immediately as she also had no idea what to do.

Ren knew what they had in mind, so he immediately approached them. "Leader, instructor, let’s have a party together."

"Well, I..." Cassandra could not finish her words.

Aria only looked at him without saying a single word.

Sylvie walked toward them and said, "It’s a good day for him, so let’s put aside the conflict between you guys. There is no one from the Nexus or the Aether Organization today. We are all his friends."

Ren turned to Sylvie and nodded his head in agreement.

Aria glanced at Veronica before returning her attention to Sylvie and Ren. "Alright."

"Great!" Sylvie smiled happily, followed by Ren.

"I will order food and drinks now." Ren took his phone out of his pocket.

But before he opened the food and drink delivery app, he remembered Lily and the others.

’I will invite them too.’

He called Lily first.

"Hello, Ren? What’s wrong?" Lily picked up the phone.

"Lily, I have successfully perfected my creation technique and will be having a small party with everyone at Mrs Sylvie’s coffee shop," he went straight to the point. "Do you want to join us?"

"Party?" Lily’s eyes shone brightly. "Sure! I will go there now!"

"Tell David to come too," he said.

"Alright." She replied.

After hanging up the phone, he called Virelia.

Like Lily, she decided to join right away.

Once he finished ordering, he helped Sylvie set up the place. They decided to hold the party in the backyard because her coffee shop still had many customers.

At 07:00 pm, Lily and the others arrived.

They were shocked when they saw Aria and Cassandra.

But what surprised them most was that they agreed to join despite Veronica, Ravenna, and Alice being there.

The relationship between the two organizations was at odds, so they thought something like that would never happen, but now they knew that they were wrong.

Or perhaps, Ren managed to break that barrier, even if just for a moment.

"Leader, instructor." The kids greeted them.

Aria nodded while Cassandra welcomed them with a big smile.

Several minutes later, all of his orders arrived.

The group quickly put them on the table before finally sitting in their seats.

Once everything was ready, they started the party.
