Chapter 621: KILL THE ENEMY!!

BOOOOOOOM

Despite the constant efforts of the Alliance Soldiers, the Giant Beast continued to slam its body against the Gate, again and again.

The Archers, the Throwers, the Oil Pourers, and the Alliance Beasts who were constantly attacking with magical attacks—

They did everything in their power to try and stop the Giant Beast, but the beasts and men surrounding it had made it their mission to protect it.

Constant shields and barriers were formed around it, some even attacked the Alliance defenders in return. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

The worst part?

The beasts that were climbing the wall were getting closer and closer as well, that divided the Alliance Troops’ attention. Stopping the Giant Beast from breaking the Gate was important—

However, this was something their side was prepared for—

Poorly, yes.

But they still had preparations. There was still an army, waiting for the enemy to breach the Gate, just so they could pounce on them.

However—

The Beasts climbing the Wall and making it up—

This wasn’t something they were prepared against, if this happened, if they focused on the Gate too much and those beasts came from the other end, it would be disastrous since it would give those beasts the choice to go anywhere they wanted.

Some might even run inside the city to wreak havoc.

That was something they absolutely needed to avoid.

So while the focus still remained on the Gate, many Alliance men were dealing with the beasts that were climbing the Wall.

This, of course, weakened the Gate defence even further.

BOOOOOOM

The Beast slammed its body into the Gate again.

The gate groaned, the iron bars barely held, the wood behind them had started cracking.

That was when Korvath clenched his fists and slowly looked at Gruumak.

Gruumak looked at him with a grave face, the sounds alone were enough for him to understand what was happening, but seeing Korvath’s face only made it clearer.

The two leaders looked at each other in silence and nodded.

This time, no words, no translators were needed—

"PREPARE!!!"

Gruumak screamed in his own rough tongue.

"KILL THE ENEMY!!"

He chanted.

The Stonefangs in front of him returned the chant.

"KILL THE ENEMY!!"

"KILL THE ENEMY!!"

The chants rose, even those who weren’t Stonefangs joined in, repeating those words even if they didn’t know the meaning.

And that was when it happened—

The Giant Beast hit the Gate a fifth time and this time—

BOOOOOOOM

CRAAAAAACK

This time, the sound was different.

The Iron Bars that had held for so long twisted out of place, all the chains snapped and whipped backwards, cutting through the air.

The heavy beasts that were reinforcing the Gate with the weight of their bodies were thrown back.

The enemy was here.

And they poured in without stopping, some even trampling down the same giant beast that opened the gate in the first place, and they did it with those same, crazy smiles on their faces.

They didn’t even care about the formation the Alliance Troops were in—

They dashed forward, stepping over their own men if they had to.

"RRROOOOAAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!"

The beasts roared.

"BRACE!!!"

Korvath’s command echoed throughout the battlefield.

"YYYEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!"

The soldiers screamed.

"KILL THE ENEMY!!"

"KILL THE ENEMY!!"

"KILL THE ENEMY!!"

Stonefang cheers erupted again, the spear lines reinforced themselves.

The first line knelt and slammed their shields into the ground, the second row lifted their shields, covering the formation’s upper body and heads.

And the third row—

They prepared the spears and all other weapons they had.

They hooked their blades through small gaps between shields and the Wall of Iron was perfectly reinforced.

That was when the first enemy beast crashed into it.

BOOOOOOOOM

The shields shook, the men behind them groaned and—

"KILL THE ENEMY!!"

The spears stabbed forward, one spear entered the beast’s chest, another stabbed into its neck.

"KKRRRIIIIEEEEEEKKKKK!!!"

The beast screeched in pain.

The Alliance troops did not care—

They continued, a hooked blade caught the rider’s leg and pulled him down from the saddle, the rider fell face-first into the spear-line and three spears pierced his body.

But the most horrifying part?

The man whose body was pierced by three spears—

He did not scream, he didn’t even try to crawl away.

Instead, he looked up with blood pouring from his mouth and—

He smiled.

The soldiers closest to him froze and that was all the time the next beast needed, it slammed into the shields again, the first row was pushed back.

"Hold!"

"Hold the line!"

"Push them back!"

The third row stabbed again, the blades went forward and came back covered in red.

"KRRIIIIEEECCKKKKK!!!"

The beast screeched but the Alliance soldiers couldn’t celebrate since the rest of the beasts and the riders came pouring down.

One rider took a spear through the stomach, grabbed the shaft, and pulled himself closer instead of away, trying to kill the Alliance troops instead of caring for his own life.

It was the same for the rest, their own lives, the pain they were in, the blade that had wounded them, none of it mattered, all that mattered was the enemy in front of them, the enemy they needed to tear apart.

"W-What is wrong with them!?"

"It is as if they don’t feel pain!"

"Pain!? They don’t even fear death! That bastard was smiling when I pierced his heart!"

The Alliance Soldiers were horrified.

This was their first direct confrontation with the enemy and only now did they realise why even the Sky Unit, their supposedly strongest Unit, had faltered.

How was one supposed to face an enemy so thirsty for blood that they no longer valued their own?

The Alliance soldiers slowed down, the ’Iron Wall’ they created seemed like it was pushing out.

But just then—

"KILL THE ENEMY!!"

Gruumak roared as he and his Stonefang warriors moved.

The Stonefangs did not charge straight from the back, they came from the two sides, just as they were told to during the battle briefing.

The enemy that crashed into the spear-line was trapped in front, the Stonefangs attacked from both flanks.

Stonefang axes beheaded enemy riders, the heavy Stonefang clubs crushed the beasts’ heads, putting them down in one move.

That was the Stonefang strength.

The strength the Velmourns had feared for generations.

"KILL THE ENEMY!"

Gruumak roared again.

"KILL THE ENEMY!"

"KILL THE ENEMY!!"

The Stonefangs roared back, repeating the chants as they sliced down their enemies with eyes filled with endless rage.

This was their revenge.

Their answer to what these bastards had done to their people.
