Chapter 837: Chapter 831: Karmic Retribution 3

As the father of two children, he understood all too well what letting go completely would mean.

Tiana Thorne saw that her father still cared about her—even now, when he was already in the abyss, he was still tending to her emotions—and she was moved beyond words.

With such a good dad, why would heaven make him go through all this?

"Tiana, how much do you already know? Tell me."

It took Whitney Lynch a long while to come back to herself from her daze, and when she did, she heard that sentence.

At the same time, Tiana Thorne turned to look at her; their eyes met.

She saw the icy cold in Tiana’s eyes, as if they had been through countless frosts, devoid of the slightest warmth.

She shook her head, her gaze full of supplication, hoping it wouldn’t be spoken aloud.

At this moment, how could Tiana Thorne possibly let her off?

Tiana withdrew her gaze; when she looked back at her father, her tone softened a bit. "Dad, do you remember I mentioned Cynthia Morgan just now?"

"Mm. Is this matter related to her?"

Tiana Thorne nodded, and only then began to recount what had happened twenty years ago.

"Dad, it sounds complicated, so I’ll try to put it simply."

Sean Thorne nodded; his heart was still weighed down with pain as he listened to her continue.

"I was originally born into another family. Cynthia Morgan, in order to take revenge on that family for a hatred she imagined, stole me away the second day after my biological mother gave birth to me. After that, she handed me over to Whitney Lynch. From that moment on, I started living in place of your youngest daughter."

Sean Thorne had never expected it to be like this.

"Cynthia Morgan never intended for me to live. That’s why she moved into the Thorne family—her goal was to make you believe I was your youngest daughter and then stage an accident to cause my death. That way, she could guard this secret forever. Unfortunately for her, she failed and left with nothing accomplished."

Listening to his daughter lay out one shocking past event after another, he felt nothing but lingering terror.

Sean Thorne took a deep breath; his hands were trembling. "How can you be sure Cynthia Morgan did all this?"

"She admitted it herself. Back then, she wanted to steal my third aunt’s baby too, using the same trick—first causing a car accident for my third uncle. My third aunt gave birth to my cousin at that time. In order to let her own daughter live a life of wealth and privilege, she switched her daughter with my cousin. My cousin died right after birth, but her daughter, by a twist of fate, was taken in and raised by my biological mother."

Even though it was all in the past, just mentioning it still stirred her heart.

The human heart is truly a terrifying thing.

For the sake of her own interests, she stopped at nothing, causing the deaths of so many people.

If my third uncle hadn’t been lucky enough to survive back then, now we’d only be able to see his grave once a year on his death anniversary.

Sean Thorne, afraid of squeezing her shoulders too hard, instinctively let go after hearing all this. His hands curled into fists, nails digging into his palms, veins bulging.

Hoarsely, he asked, "Did Whitney Lynch take part in all of this?"

"I didn’t! Honey..."

Sean Thorne’s eyes were filled with vicious anger. "Shut up. You’re not worthy of calling me that."

Whitney bit her lip, her face streaked with tears. In that instant she seemed to age by ten years, desperately trying to explain: "I really didn’t know Cynthia Morgan had done so much. I really didn’t know."

"Don’t try to dodge my question. The child—where is the child?"

They had come back to this question again. She sucked in a sharp breath of cold air, yet had no idea how to answer.

Tiana Thorne watched her still trying to wriggle out of it; her voice was icy to the extreme. "Dad, let me answer that question for her."
