Chapter 244: Station: Shattered Shooting Star
[-Ding!]
{Station 4 has been chosen!}
{Prepare to disembark in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.}
[After receiving that notification, you, Jade, and the others decided to continue the game.]
[Since all five community cards were already dealt at the table and all of you had placed your bets, you, Jade, Old MacDonald, and Morvane immediately showed your cards at the same time.]
[The five community cards were King of spades, Queen of spades, 10 of spades, 8 of spades, and Jack of spades.]
[You, Jade, and Old MacDonald had gone all-in, with Morvane gritting his teeth and doing so as well, believing that the three of you were bluffing.]
[Jade showed off her two cards, which were a 9 of spades and a 2 of clubs, "King-high Straight Flush!"]
[You also showed your two cards, which were an Ace of spades and a 2 of diamonds, "Royal Flush!"]
[Old MacDonald showed his two cards, which were a King of diamonds and a King of clubs, "Three of a kind!"]
[Hearing this, Morvane looked at his two cards again, and he immediately slammed them on the table, "Fuck! I thought you three were bluffing it and going all in, but how come Jade and Zayne’s luck is so great!"]
["Even Old MacDonald got a three of a kind and his starting hand is way better than mine!"]
[You, Jade, and Old MacDonald didn’t even have to respond, as Scarlet immediately interjected, "You should have known when to fold it. With your 7 and 2 offsuit, you haven’t even formed any good hand."]
["With only high card at 7, your cards are truly the worst."]
[Listening to Scarlet’s words, Morvane went silent. The reason why he dared to go all-in was that he had previously won before with a straight, so he believed that his luck might still have been good.]
[It turned out that while the time you and Jade won wasn’t every game, it was always when the pot was stacked with many gems.]
[The time Morvane had won with a straight, he sucked at fattening up the pot, so he didn’t get that much.]
[Ignoring Morvane, Old MacDonald chuckled, "Luck is truly illusory. We’ve already prevented cheating within this area, yet luck isn’t part of it."]
[Although Old MacDonald’s race wasn’t that of an Arch Human, he was still of the human race, but just biased towards the fairy tale evolution path. Because of that, he still had the racial characteristics of improved luck.]
[His luck might not be as great as Jade’s and yours, but Old MacDonald could still win a lot against the other train crewmates.]
[It was also the reason why his starting hand was Pocket Kings, which was the second-best hand in the game. If not for you and Jade being present in the game, his luck might have allowed him to form a Four of a Kind.]
[Jade sighed, "Tell me about it. My King-high Straight Flush is literally the second-best hand in the game. It only loses to one hand, the Royal Flush, and yet I encountered it."]
["If not for the dealer being a puppet created and manipulated by the Vast Entertainment Facility Carriage, I would have assumed there was foul play involved."]
[In response to Jade’s words, you took the bunch of gems lying on the table while stating, "I haven’t actively used All Stars Aligned since I’m true to my word of no cheating, but its passive effect still made my luck better than Jade’s."]
["In terms of base luck stat, Jade and mine might be the same. But the passive effect of All Stars Aligned had given my luck stat a great boost."]
[Although playing poker wasn’t merely luck and there was also strategy and bluffing involved, it still wasn’t as good and consistent as brute-forcing it through sheer luck.]
[So far, you and Jade had never lost any meaningful amount of gems when playing it. It wasn’t every time that both of you would win, but when you do win, it was when the pot was already filled with gems.]
[In other words, the other train crewmates had instances of winning poker with you and Jade. However, the combined amount of gems they had couldn’t even surpass either Jade or yours.]
[Scarlet commented, "It’s truly fortunate that you were adamant in acquiring All Stars Aligned. Just its passive effects alone could defeat our luck. Not to mention, it has assisted us a lot in getting useful mandatory stations even when Wish Maker wasn’t used."]
[Like Scarlet, Old MacDonald, and the others didn’t mind losing. After all, there wasn’t anything at stake, and they merely treated this as a pastime.]
[Moreover, such activities could also be used to test the efficacy of your innate talent. The greater your capabilities were, the more Scarlet and the others felt assured that their Train Conductor was this competent.]
[Having already experienced everything going smoothly and them dominating others, they naturally didn’t want the Zenith Train Crew to fall into damnation.]
[In fact, they were more wary of the Zenith Train Crew meeting its end more than you.]
[For you, death wasn’t an end, and it was merely the end of the doomsday life simulation. But for them, they’ve already joined the Zenith Train Crew and enjoyed its benefits.]
[If the Zenith Train Crew were to meet its end and if their lives weren’t spared in such a disaster, it would truly be the end for them.]
[Because of that, they didn’t mind Jade and your excessively great luck. The greater your luck was, the more they felt secure that the Zenith Train Crew wouldn’t suddenly end due to unfortunate events.]
[Before you and the others could start another round of poker, a system notification from the World Will soon interrupt you all.]
[-Ding!]
{The train has arrived at Station: Shattered Shooting Star Station!}
{Dwell Time: 5 months}
{Early Departure Time: None, can depart early whenever}
[Receiving that notification, you waved your hand and, using the Train Conductor Authority, you summoned a system screen which displayed the outside scenery.]
[This carriage was already modified, so it didn’t possess any windows. Because of that, Train Conductor Authority could be used to summon a system screen that acted like the window for the train carriage.]
[From the system screen, you and the others could see that the Zenith Train arrived in the sky above a technologically advanced city.]
[In the sky, there were flying cars traveling from one place to another. However, despite the Zenith Train’s size and its conspicuous build, it didn’t attract any attention from the station world natives.]
[There were even flying cars that passed through the Zenith Train, as if the Zenith Train was a ghost that didn’t exist.]
[It was all thanks to Invisible Coating, Zero Presence, and the Formless Void Vessel sub-system that all of those were achieved. One of the main reasons why the Zenith Train Crew had easily explored stations was due to those train abilities and the Formless Void Vessel sub-system.]
[No one among Titan rank powerhouses could ever detect and perceive the existence of the Zenith Train. Because of that, it was incredibly easy to infiltrate core places with rich resources in those station worlds.]
[Looking at the city’s buildings, which were tall skyscrapers that had a sci-fi theme, Jade asked, "If I’m not mistaken, this station world has reached Type 1 Civilization?"]
[You, who had already thoroughly used Hint Prompt on this station world and the Zenith Train’s surroundings, nodded and replied, "Yes. The human race here had completely harnessed the entire energy of this world."]
["Moreover, while they have great achievements in gadgets and machinery, what their tech tree has specialized in is biotechnology and genetic engineering."]
["The power system of this world is based on Genetically Modified Warriors, or Gene Warriors for short. Gene Warriors become stronger by tapping into the full potential of the genes they’ve either inherited, awakened, or mutated."]
["Interestingly, the strongest Gene Warrior is only at Peak Mythril rank. Yet, such a station world possesses the resource that can increase the rank of innate talents."]
[Unlike other Station Worlds, the World Barrier in this station was almost nonexistent. The entire Shattered Shooting Star Station encompassed the entire world.]
[In other words, you were no longer limited to a city, country, or continent. If you wanted to, the Zenith Train could travel to the other side of the world. No World Barrier would block and prevent you from doing that.]
[However, while it seemed nonexistent, the World Barrier still existed. At most, it just barricaded the entire planet and no longer a mere city or country.]
[Because of that, you could easily travel to any place on this planet. The only limit was that you couldn’t travel to this planet’s moon or the outer space around the planet.]
[You and the others were well aware of that. As for why the World Barrier was this lax, it was naturally due to a certain resource in this station.]
["A shooting star should fall here any time now..."]
