Chapter 363: Chapter 326: Secret (3)
The only one who ever got out did so because a player sacrificed their own life and items to create a single opportunity.
But an opportunity like that was a matter of pure chance.
"Do you know what I do to human traffickers?"
The man shook his head. ’How was he supposed to understand the logic of a psycho?’
"I’d snap their arms, then snap their legs, and finally... Relax, I’m just kidding. After all, I’m just a poor, helpless little thing."
The man’s voice was grave. "What do you want!"
"Do you have to work against us? Nothing good will come of this for anyone! It’ll only end in mutual destruction!"
Wen Ying smiled. "Mutual destruction? I’ve never experienced that before. It sounds interesting, why don’t we give it a shot? That head nurse from before was too weak. I really hope you guys can give me a taste of it."
"Do you insist on going against us... and the people backing us?"
"Of course not." Wen Ying shook her head in confusion. "I’m just asking you about the situation on the third floor. Aren’t we having a friendly conversation?"
The two men considered for a moment. "We don’t know what’s on the third floor yet. Of the people assigned there, he was the only one to make it out alive. We need to wait for him to wake up before we can sort through the information."
"You’re a janitor, not an orderly, so you won’t have any contact with this. We’ve said our piece. We’re leaving."
The two hurriedly dragged the unconscious man away.
Wen Ying didn’t stop them this time, merely asking, "How do I become an orderly on the third floor?"
The two men shuddered, apparently unable to understand why this woman had such a death wish.
"Jobs are assigned by the head nurse. You—"
"I get it." Wen Ying cut him off without hearing the rest. "I’ll just go find the head nurse for a transfer tomorrow. Cleaning is too boring, after all."
Hearing Wen Ying’s words, the two men ran even faster, which was just unfortunate for the unconscious man being dragged along the ground behind them.
The flow of time here was also strange. Wen Ying felt it should be around noon, but the sky suddenly changed.
Darkness began to fall.
The mental hospital seemed eerily quiet.
"Young lady, why aren’t you running? Run, quick!"
An old man with a flowerpot on his head suddenly appeared and spoke to Wen Ying.
Wen Ying’s eyes narrowed. ’That old man was hiding in the garden this whole time, completely still. How did I not notice him?’
"Run, you little fool!" The old man held the flowerpot steady with one hand while reaching for Wen Ying with the other.
But before he could touch her, he heard Wen Ying say, "Okay!"
So, Wen Ying followed the old man, running toward the old castle.
Once inside the old castle, the old man didn’t stop, heading straight for the stairs. Wen Ying followed him up to the second floor.
The old man pushed open a door near the staircase, and as soon as Wen Ying was inside, he quickly shut it.
He placed the flowerpot from his head onto the room’s only bed, squatted down, and put a finger to his lips. "Shh."
Wen Ying also squatted down, putting her finger to her lips. "Shh."
"Don’t talk. The monsters eat people."
Before Wen Ying could speak, she saw the old man turn and cradle the flowerpot in his arms. "Little Hong, Little Hong, keep your voice down! Don’t let them find us, or they’ll eat us today!"
Wen Ying looked at the plant in the pot. It was blooming with a stunningly vibrant flower that had seven different colors on a single blossom.
’So this was the Little Hong the old man was talking about?’
The old man, as if forgetting Wen Ying was even there, stared at the flowerpot. "Oh, Little Hong, weren’t the pork ribs delicious today?"
As he spoke, he snatched a cockroach that was crawling on the floor, cupped it in his palm, and stuffed it directly into his mouth.
"Little Hong, the pork ribs were braised. Here, I’ll save half for you."
The old man spoke excitedly, then opened his mouth and spat out the other half of the cockroach. He pinched it between his fingers and shoved it into the center of the flower. "Hurry up and eat, hurry up! If they catch us, we won’t get to eat ever again!"
Wen Ying watched this unfold, completely at a loss for words.
"Shh! Little Hong, be quieter, or they’ll pull out your teeth."
As he said this, Wen Ying saw the old man reach out and rip off half of the flower’s petals. "I told you to be quiet! Why are you being so loud?!"
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
The old man picked up the flowerpot and slammed it onto the ground, smashing it over and over.
The flowerpot shattered, scattering soil everywhere. The flower was utterly ruined.
Suddenly, the old man burst into tears. "SOB SOB SOB... Little Hong, what’s wrong? Did they do this to you? They want to kill us! Those godless monsters! Don’t worry, Little Hong, I’ll take good care of you!"
Then, Wen Ying watched as the old man began scooping up the spilled soil with his bare hands and stuffing it back among the broken shards of the flowerpot.
