Chapter 275: Chapter 273: Little White is Jealous
"Liger, I like it."
It was the first time Kong Jian had actively expressed his joy.
Wen Ying looked at the monk’s clothes before her. Though they were called monk’s clothes, they had been modified to be much more convenient to wear.
But they were still simple and elegant, recognizable at a glance.
Since Kong Jian liked them, and the system had provided them, Wen Ying didn’t hesitate to take him to change into his new clothes.
There were new shoes, too.
Kong Jian carried a black bag containing the clothes he had just taken off and another new set. He seemed to have brightened up considerably.
If Kong Jian had an endearingly naive sort of cuteness when she first met him, now, dressed in new clothes and holding her hand, what she saw was a lively spirit.
Looking at Kong Jian now, Wen Ying asked softly, "Kong Jian, where is your home?"
Kong Jian shook his head but didn’t speak.
"Then how did you end up here?"
"I came looking for Liger..."
’Looking for me?’
Wen Ying was sure she didn’t know Kong Jian. But when she pressed him about how he knew her, he didn’t answer. He seemed to have sunk into some kind of mood and became a little downcast.
Wen Ying didn’t ask that question again.
"Don’t you want to go home, then?"
"Won’t they be worried about you?"
Kong Jian shook his head, then nodded. Finally, he looked at Wen Ying, his soft, sweet voice filled with apprehension as a mist formed in his eyes. "Liger, are you getting rid of me?"
Wen Ying looked at Kong Jian, a little lost.
Although she liked Kong Jian, that was a completely different matter from raising a child.
From the looks of it, Kong Jian intended to follow her.
"Let’s not think about that so much. How about Liger takes you to have some fun?"
Kong Jian nodded, his tears turning to a smile.
A child’s emotions come and go quickly.
As Wen Ying was walking through the woods with Kong Jian, Little White ran over. "Master, I don’t think this little monk is as simple as he seems."
Little White spoke out directly, right in front of Kong Jian.
When Kong Jian heard Little White’s voice, his eyes went wide. He stared at Little White. "Liger, the fox is talking."
Little White glared at him. "What are you looking at! Haven’t you ever seen a talking fox before?"
"No." Kong Jian answered honestly and obediently.
"Then why aren’t you scared?"
"I..."
"You what! Master, see? This little monk is not simple at all. If a normal person saw me talking, wouldn’t they be scared out of their wits? He shows no emotion other than a bit of curiosity. And he dismantled the trap you made, Master. How could a child this small do that? I sense an aura from him—it feels both familiar and strange."
Kong Jian took a step behind Wen Ying, standing by her leg. Then he peeked out with half his head and looked at Little White. "I’m not afraid of a talking fox."
"Why aren’t you afraid?" Little White asked, looking puff-cheeked with anger at Kong Jian.
"I... would hit you." After speaking, Kong Jian pressed his lips together and looked nervously at Wen Ying.
’Shihuhu won’t be angry, will she?’
"You’d hit me?"
"Little White, are you jealous?" Wen Ying had figured it out and asked, amused.
That thought occurred to her. Little White’s attitude toward Kong Jian was completely different from how he treated others.
’Kong Jian is just a child, but is Little White a child, too? Is he afraid Kong Jian will steal his place?’
Little White turned his head away without answering, as if sulking.
"Little White, he’s just a child. You’ll scare him like that."
"Master, he’s no child! He just said he’d hit me."
For a moment, Wen Ying didn’t know how to explain.
"Master, what normal child would act like this?"
Wen Ying knew, but she couldn’t say it. She was aware of Kong Jian’s uniqueness; after all, the system had popped up so many times, which was enough to prove Kong Jian’s importance.
’When Little White showed up, the system didn’t seem to react at all, did it?’
But Little White had been with her for so long; she couldn’t just ignore his feelings.
"You want to fight me? Whoever wins gets to be the boss, how about it?"
Little White was still not happy with this little brat who had suddenly appeared and was trying to steal his master, regardless of whether he was a monk or not.
Kong Jian looked timidly at Wen Ying, as if wanting her to make the decision for him.
"If you feel like it, you can play with him. If you don’t, then don’t."
Kong Jian immediately nodded, came out from behind Wen Ying, reached out, and grabbed Little White’s tail.
His small body moved with surprising speed and precision.
Little White sneered. ’Does he think grabbing my tail is enough to win?’
’I’m no ordinary fox; I’m the Fox Immortal!’
’I can’t use my Great Immortal’s Immortal Law on this little brat!’
’I’ll teach him a lesson with just my paws and claws!’
’This newcomer needs to learn his place!’
Just as Little White swung his body, kicked his legs, and turned to break free, Kong Jian looked at him with sparkling eyes. He revealed eight small teeth, so pearly white they dazzled Little White.
Little White felt all the strength in his body suddenly vanish.
It was as if a full pond had abruptly dried up.
Little White became a salted fish, a salted fish on a cutting board, swung back and forth by the tail by Kong Jian.
Wen Ying was also stunned when she saw this. ’Where on earth did this little monk come from?’
’And what kind of skill is this?’
She didn’t sense any aura of cultivation from Kong Jian.
It was as if Kong Jian was just an ordinary child, an ordinary little monk.
But she knew perfectly well that Kong Jian was no ordinary boy.
Although Kong Jian called her Liger, she didn’t know the first thing about him.
Feeling wronged, Little White directly used the Immortal Law that had earned him the title of Great Immortal to break free from Kong Jian’s grasp.
"You little brat, you cheated! What did you do to me just now?"
Kong Jian looked at Little White with some innocence, his voice still soft and sweet. "I just grabbed your tail. Every time I grab my Ah Hong’s tail, it can’t move."
"I don’t care whose tail you grab, Ah Hong or whoever! What does she have to do with me! I’m telling you, little brat, I was going easy on you just now. That’s why I didn’t use my Immortal Law on you! I am the Fox Immortal!"
"Liger..." Kong Jian turned to look at Wen Ying with innocent eyes.
He wasn’t interested in any Fox Immortal.
"She’s my master! Not your master!" Little White raged.
’Such a blatant robbery!’
"Master?" Hearing Little White’s words, Wen Ying suddenly understood what Kong Jian meant by "Liger."
’Kong Jian has been calling me Master all along?’
’Kong Jian thinks I’m his master?’
’But where would I have gotten a disciple?’
Could it be a problem left behind by the original owner of this body?
But in the original owner’s memories, there was nothing that didn’t fit this era. She seemed to be just an ordinary university student.
She had never even come into contact with anyone or anything related to metaphysics.
Clearly, Kong Jian was not the original owner’s disciple.
"System, is he really my disciple?"
[System is hibernating. Please leave a message.]
Wen Ying: "..."
’This damn thing is clearly doing it on purpose.’
"Liger..." Kong Jian looked at Wen Ying, looking pitiful and wronged.
"Just you watch how I deal with you!" Little White fumed.
