Chapter 152: Chapter 152; They would both bleed
Davon’s POV
"What the hell do you mean she is gone?" Boca roared, his voice echoing off the walls as he began to storm frantically around the compound. I fell into step behind him, playing the part of the concerned ally.
"I went to check on her, but she was nowhere to be found," Ragnar replied, concern lacing every syllable.
Stubborn bitch, I thought to myself. Alina was clearly the type who couldn’t just sit around and watch her mate die. She had probably run off to find a miracle, but it was too bad for her—Lucian was going to die regardless.
Boca and Ragnar bolted up the stairs to Lucian’s room. They threw the door open, confirming she wasn’t there, and immediately rushed back out to organize a search party. But I didn’t follow them this time. I lingered behind, stepping fully into the dimly lit bedroom.
I walked over to the edge of the bed, and a dark, victorious smirk slowly crept across my lips. Seeing the great, untouchable Alpha bedridden and completely helpless was exactly what I had always dreamed of. He always thought he was better than everyone else, but in the end, he was no different from the rest of the garbage that had been cast out.
"It’s a damn shame you are in this state, Lucian," I whispered, leaning over his prone body. "You know, I actually wanted to spend a little more time with you. I wanted to fight you, man-to-man, and watch you bleed out beneath me. But that won’t be possible now. You’ll be meeting your dead parents real soon."
My jaw tightened as the bitter resentment flared in my chest. "You deserve nothing but the worst. I hate that Emily is so completely in love with you. And I absolutely loathe the fact that you finally found a woman to love, while you left me behind to rot in the dirt."
"What the hell are you doing in here, Davon?"
Michael’s sharp voice cut through the room. I spun around, instantly wiping the malice from my expression and replacing it with a faint, innocent smile.
"I just wanted to see how Lucian was holding up," I said smoothly.
"You have absolutely no right to be in this room," Michael ground out, pure irritation hardening his features as he pointed toward the door. "Get out."
"Very well then," I scoffed, brushing past him. "I’ll be taking my leave. Tell Boca that I’ve gone."
I walked out of the compound and got straight into my car, letting out a long breath as I gripped the steering wheel. If Alina was out there looking for a cure, I needed to do something to speed up Lucian’s demise. A wicked idea formed in my mind, and my smirk returned.
Aiden.
Aiden hated my guts, sure, but he hated Lucian even more. He would be absolutely ecstatic to learn that the Alpha’s time was running out.
I drove across town to Aiden’s estate. The perimeter guards recognized me and, after a tense standoff, reluctantly let me through. I was escorted into the lavish living room, where I didn’t have to wait long.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
I turned around to see Emily stepping into the room. Shock and pure hostility were written all over her face.
"I came here to see Aiden," I said, a mocking smirk playing on my lips.
"Why the hell would you want to meet with him?" she demanded, her voice a mix of confusion and sharp annoyance.
"I happen to have some very good news for him," I purred, crossing my arms. "It’s about Lucian. But honestly, Emily, I don’t think it’s something you want to hear."
Her breath hitched, and she took a step closer. "What happened to Lucian?"
"Hmm, nothing much," I chuckled darkly. "Just that he’s going to die a lot sooner than you think."
Emily’s eyes widened in sheer, paralyzed horror. "What do you mean by that? What—"
"Davon."
Aiden’s booming voice interrupted her, cutting off her panicked questioning. He walked into the living room, his gaze locked onto me with heavy annoyance. "What the hell are you doing in my house?"
"I came here because I have something incredibly important to tell you," I said, leaning back slightly to match his powerful posture.
Aiden didn’t flinch. "Tell me."
"Hmm, not while she is standing right here," I murmured, cutting a sharp glance toward Emily.
She immediately glared back at me, her eyes flashing with pure fire. "I am his wife, so I am staying right here," she snapped, pure annoyance laced in her tone. She was still as stubborn as ever—and honestly, that untamed fire was exactly why I loved her so much.
Aiden didn’t look at her, his eyes remaining locked on mine. "Emily, leave us."
Her mouth parted to argue, but seeing the finality in his expression, she had no choice but to turn on her heel and storm out of the room.
Once the heavy doors clicked shut behind her, I took a step closer, my voice dropping into a dark, conspiratorial whisper. "It is about Lucian. He is currently on his deathbed."
Aiden’s left eyebrow shot up in genuine surprise. "How do you know that?"
"It doesn’t matter how I found out," I waved my hand dismissively, a wicked smile playing on my lips. "What you actually need to know is that Alina has already run off to find a cure. You need to stop her, Aiden. I know how badly you want your family back, and you will only achieve that if you get rid of Lucian for good. You need to ensure that even if Alina somehow manages to find a cure, she never makes it back to the compound until Lucian is completely dead."
I paused, searching his eyes, watching the heavy calculations happening behind his gaze. "This is your perfect opportunity to finally be free of him and get the happiness you deserve."
He seemed intensely keen on the idea, the wheels in his mind clearly turning as he processed the flawless timeline. But what the fool didn’t know was that once Lucian was out of the picture, I would definitely be coming for him next. Both of them would bleed, and I would take everything.
