Chapter 536: Chapter 536: Mika Summers VS Tristan Grayson (36)
"Engaged?" At these words, Mae Lynch’s composure crumbled. She cried out in shock.
Just then, Aria Joyce stepped forward with a smile. "Yes. This is Leo’s wish, and my parents’ as well. Their idea is to buy an apartment for the happy couple near the university after they’re engaged. They can live there for now, and they’ll get married whenever Tiana graduates."
Aria Joyce’s words sent a wave of fury through Mae Lynch, making her vision go dark. She nearly fainted.
’Just last night, she swore to me she would never see that young master of the Joyce family again, and now they’re getting engaged?’
In contrast to Mae Lynch’s reaction, Caleb Grayson seemed much calmer. He smiled faintly and gestured for Mr. and Mrs. Joyce to sit down. He even asked Tristan Grayson to pour tea for their guests.
Tristan Grayson was completely against it, but in the end, he had no choice but to pour the tea with a sullen face.
’He was angry, of course, but the moment he remembered that his sister hadn’t come home last night, that she and that bastard Leo Joyce had probably...’
’Getting any angrier was pointless. At least that bastard Leo Joyce was a responsible man.’
Halfway through the discussion about the engagement, Leo Joyce and Tiana Grayson returned. Mae Lynch saw at a glance that Tiana was wearing different clothes than when she had left the day before.
But no matter how furious she was, no matter how much she resented her daughter for being such a disappointment, she could only swallow her rage when she saw the blissful look on her daughter’s face as she entered with Leo Joyce, and how shyly Tiana now trailed by his side.
’Well, at least they like each other...’
Since Tristan Grayson and Mika Summers’s wedding was to be held at the end of the month, Leo and Tiana’s engagement party was scheduled for the end of the year. After the Lunar New Year, the two would register their marriage. As for the wedding banquet and formal ceremony, that would be held in grand fashion after Tiana graduated from university.
But just like that, after a simple three-hour conversation, her daughter was officially married off into another family.
Words couldn’t describe how wronged and frustrated Mae Lynch felt; she was on the verge of tears. The moment the Joyce family left, she couldn’t hold back anymore and burst out crying, all the while cursing Caleb Grayson.
Seeing his mother in such a state, Tristan Grayson sighed, exchanged a few words with Caleb Grayson, and left.
Outside the Grayson residence, Aria Joyce, who should have left long ago, was still there. She was leaning against Tristan Grayson’s car, waiting for him. As soon as she saw him emerge, she immediately hurried over to greet him. "Tristan..."
Watching the woman run toward him, Tristan Grayson sidestepped past her. He ignored her, opened his car door, and prepared to get in and drive away.
But Aria Joyce, completely unfazed by his attitude, simply opened the passenger-side door and slid into the seat as if she owned the place.
As he was starting the car, Tristan watched Aria Joyce get in, and his expression grew dangerously dark. He turned to her, his thin lips parting. "Get out!"
"Tristan, I have something I need to talk to you about," Aria Joyce said, pouting aggrievedly.
"I have nothing to talk to you about. Please get out of the car, Miss Joyce. Immediately!"
Aria Joyce pretended not to have heard him and continued on her own track. "Tristan, I primarily wanted to treat you to a meal to thank you for saving my life. And besides that, I wanted to take the opportunity to discuss the partnership proposal between the Grayson and Joyce families."
"Miss Joyce, did you not understand me? I told you to get out of the car now!"
