Chapter 404: Chapter 404: Saying I Love You From This Moment On (4)
Mika Summers hadn’t walked far before she saw Aiden Avery and Ian Shaw talking by a window in the hall corridor.
She recalled that in her groggy state that day, she thought she had seen these two men come to rescue them. She stopped in her tracks, a complicated look in her eyes...
Just then, Aiden Avery spotted Mika Summers. He turned and flashed her a smile, about to walk over, but Ian Shaw grabbed his arm, stopping him.
Seeing this, Mika Summers’s expression darkened, and her brows furrowed tightly.
For some reason, what Ian Shaw had said in Tristan Grayson’s office not long ago suddenly flashed through her mind...
’Did I really forget something?’
’Otherwise, why does Ian Shaw seem so hostile toward me...’
She suppressed her emotions and stopped looking at them, heading to find the doctor first instead.
When she came out of the office, she saw Ian Shaw. With his hands in his pockets, he was leaning against the wall, his eyes filled with a cold detachment.
Seeing her emerge, his thin lips parted. "Miss Summers, do you have a moment?"
"Yes." Mika Summers nodded, her voice cold.
Ian Shaw’s lips curled. He turned and walked directly outside.
Mika Summers’s brows furrowed slightly as she followed close behind him.
Outside the hospital, Ian Shaw led her to the parking lot. Reaching his car, he opened the passenger door and gestured for Mika Summers to get in.
She had expected Ian Shaw to take her to a coffee shop or restaurant to talk, but instead, he drove her to LK Company.
When Henry Archer saw Ian Shaw arrive with the new company head, he quickly hurried to follow them.
Ian Shaw led her to his office on the top floor.
Ian Shaw’s office was the third one to the right of Tristan Grayson’s.
Ian Shaw nodded, gesturing for Mika Summers to sit down.
After Mika Summers sat down, Ian Shaw walked behind his desk and pulled a file from the bookshelf.
Watching his movements, Mika Summers felt a flicker of unease. She frowned, her gaze fixed on him in confusion.
"Henry Archer, that will be all. You can leave now," Ian Shaw said coldly, looking up to see Henry Archer still standing there.
"Yes, sir."
Once Henry Archer had left, Ian Shaw sat down in his desk chair. He let out a cold laugh. "Miss Summers, to be perfectly frank, I don’t like you."
His bluntness made Mika Summers’s expression turn icy.
"But what can I do? Tristan Grayson loves you. I can’t just stand by and watch my brother live like a shadow of his former self every day, all for a woman."
Mika Summers’s hands clenched into fists. She said nothing, but a sharp pain began to bloom in her chest.
"I’m sure you, Miss Summers, know better than anyone what kind of man Tristan Grayson used to be. How proud he was, how insufferably arrogant. He looked down on everyone, and he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. But look at the man he is now..." Ian Shaw pushed himself to his feet, steadying himself on the desk, a cold, bitter smile on his lips. "Tristan says this is all the retribution he deserves, that it’s for how he wronged you in the past, and now his karma has come for him. So, what about you, Miss Summers? What do you think? Do you think Tristan Grayson wronged you? Or do you think he owes you for the rest of his life?"
Every one of Ian Shaw’s words pierced Mika Summers’s heart. Her fists were clenched so tightly her nails dug into her palms, but she refused to loosen her grip. She lifted her gaze and said in a cold voice, "Mr. Shaw, what happened between me and Tristan Grayson is not something an outsider like you could possibly understand."
