Chapter 394: Chapter 394: Misplaced Love
Silas Kent glanced at his watch and furrowed his brow. "I suppose so. Why do you ask all of a sudden?"
"It’s nothing. I just saw a woman in the restroom."
Silas Kent poured a cup of hot tea and handed it to her, raising an eyebrow. "Did she scare you?"
"No."
From her expression, it was obvious that wasn’t true. But Silas Kent didn’t press the issue. Instead, he poured himself another cup of hot tea, a helpless smile playing on his lips as he said, "The old man has an illegitimate daughter. She loves to cause trouble. If you ran into her tonight, you’re probably in for it."
"An illegitimate daughter?" This was probably the first time Mika Summers had heard Silas Kent mention his family—even if it was about an illegitimate daughter.
Silas Kent cleared his throat with feigned awkwardness. "Ahem, we’re here to eat tonight, not to talk about other things. Let’s just eat."
"Oh." ’If he doesn’t want to talk about it, then I have no desire to listen. It’s not like I’m interested in his family affairs anyway.’
But the thought of the woman she’d just encountered in the restroom still sent a shiver down her spine...
Halfway through their meal, Silas Kent answered a phone call. He shot Mika Summers a dark look before hanging up.
Mika Summers looked up at him and asked coolly, "Did something happen?"
"That illegitimate daughter I just told you about. She’s stirred up some trouble, and I need to go see what’s going on."
"Then you should go."
"I’ll be right back. Wait for me." Silas Kent was furious. He had finally managed to get a meal with Mika Summers, only to be interrupted.
But there was no way for him to vent his frustration...
"Mm."
After Silas Kent left, Mika Summers tossed her chopsticks onto the table and leaned back in her chair, feeling utterly drained.
She had just closed her eyes for a moment when the doorbell rang.
DING-DONG—
Hearing the sound, Mika Summers furrowed her brows in annoyance. ’He’s back already?’
She got up and walked toward the door.
When she opened the door, she saw the woman she had just seen in the restroom.
She watched the woman warily and asked in a cold voice, "What do you want?"
The woman’s lips curled into a sinister smile. "Miss Summers, Mr. Kent said he’d like to invite you to watch a show."
"Watch a show? What kind of show?"
"You’ll find out when you get there, Miss Summers."
It wasn’t just the bad vibe she got from this woman; Silas Kent had just left, which made Mika certain she was lying. Her lips curled into a cold, mocking smile. "Tell Mr. Kent I’m not interested."
"Miss Summers, Mr. Kent invited you. You dare refuse?"
"I already said I’m not going. If Mr. Kent genuinely wants to invite me, he can come and ask me himself. Then, maybe, I’ll consider it."
Hearing Mika Summers’s arrogant words, the vicious glint in the woman’s eyes intensified. "You should know what’s good for you! If Mr. Kent tells you to go, you have to go!"
"Heh..." Mika Summers let out a cold laugh, turned, and started walking back into the room.
Unsure of what Mika Summers was about to do, the woman followed closely behind her. "So, are you going or not?"
Mika Summers picked up her handbag from the table, pulled out her phone, and said coldly, "I don’t know who you are, but I feel it’s necessary to call Mr. Kent and confirm..." As she spoke, she was already dialing Silas Kent’s number.
Seeing this, the woman lunged forward, snatched the phone from Mika Summers’s hand, and slammed it onto the floor. "No need to call! Mika Summers, are you really telling me you don’t know who I am, or are you just pretending!"
