Chapter 393: Chapter 393: A Love With Nowhere to Go

’That’s right. I’ve always been this selfish.’

’Back then, I was selfish for wanting to be with Tristan Grayson.’ 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

’And now, I’m still selfish. I’m just selfishly hoping I don’t fall back into that painful life again...’

Mika Summers stayed in her room alone for a very, very long time before finally coming out.

During dinner, neither Una Sullivan nor Joseph Summers spoke to her. Instead, they wore dark expressions the entire time.

With red-rimmed eyes, she lowered her head, took a couple of quick bites, then got up and left for the office.

Once at the office, she buried herself in her work, trying not to think about all the upsetting business.

The more a person wants to work and avoid going home, the faster time seems to fly.

However, after being busy for only a short while, it was already the end of the workday.

Mika Summers had Jessica Archer bring in all the other documents that needed her attention.

Just then, Silas Kent pushed the door open and came in. Seeing Mika Summers still busy, he frowned with a hint of disapproval. "Not leaving yet?"

"I’ll leave after I finish these."

Hearing this, Silas Kent seemed to think of something and smiled. "Then I’ll wait for you. After you’re done, let’s go get dinner. We’ve barely eaten together since we came back."

Mika Summers looked up at him, her brow furrowing slightly. "Alright." ’Besides, I don’t want to go home anyway...’

Half an hour later, Mika Summers had put away the files on her desk. She stood up and looked at Silas Kent, who was sitting on the sofa. "Let’s go."

"Mhm..."

Silas Kent and Mika Summers went to the parking garage to get the car first.

Since Mika Summers’s car also belonged to Silas Kent, there was no need to distinguish between them. They simply got into the car Mika usually drove, which was parked at the end of the row, and left.

Silas Kent took Mika Summers to the Southill Hotel.

As they reached the hotel entrance, they ran into Tristan Grayson.

Tristan Grayson was talking with another man.

When Mika Summers saw Tristan Grayson there, realizing he wasn’t on a business trip at all, she became furious.

’He actually dared to lie to Kiki...’

’And he lied to me...’

But with Silas Kent by her side, she had to suppress the urge to march up and confront him. She put on a cold expression, pretended she hadn’t seen Tristan Grayson, and walked on with Silas.

After seeing the director off, Tristan Grayson had planned to head straight back to his company. But when he saw Mika Summers and Silas Kent enter the hotel, he clenched his fists, his face turning cold and grim. He turned and strode toward the hotel entrance.

Once inside the hotel, he couldn’t see Mika Summers or Silas anymore. He let out a self-deprecating laugh and sighed softly.

He found an open seat by a window in the lobby and sat down.

After Mika Summers and Silas Kent arrived at the VIP suite, Mika went to the restroom.

In the restroom, she splashed some water on her face to clear her head. Then she dried her hands, picked up her clutch, and headed out.

Just as she was leaving, however, a woman happened to be walking in.

Ordinarily, Mika Summers wouldn’t have paid her any mind, but the woman’s attire was genuinely unsettling.

The woman wore a witch’s hat and frightening makeup. She had on a large black robe over a pair of tight pants and red high heels...

Her getup was so bizarre that Mika couldn’t help but stare.

Perhaps sensing Mika’s gaze, the woman whipped her head around and glared fiercely at her.

A slight shiver ran through Mika. With a grim expression, she immediately turned and walked away.

Watching Mika’s retreating figure, a sinister, cold smile played on the woman’s lips.

Back in the suite, Mika still looked shaken. "Silas, is your hotel hosting a costume party today?"
