Chapter 1839: Max vs Rakan

More names appeared, more beams descended, and more battles ended before they could truly become fierce. Orion Starfall used three star marks to defeat a thunder-winged spearwoman who had advanced with great momentum, never allowing her to cross half the stage.
Damian Voss met a powerful axe user whose battle intent was strong enough to make the arena floor crack, but Damian’s sword still cut through the axe, the armor, and the man’s fighting rhythm in one clean sequence.
Kaiden Voidmere faced a participant who used shadow movement, and the battle ended almost embarrassingly fast when Kaiden folded the path of the shadow itself and appeared beside him before the first assassination strike could land.
Revona fought again, and this time her opponent surrendered after watching his strongest attack vanish under her Void Origin Eyes without leaving even a trace.

The battles continued, but for a while, the strongest names did not collide with one another.
It was not that the matches were boring. Every participant remaining in the top twenty-five was strong enough to dominate an ordinary generation. Even the ones who lost quickly still had methods that could make weaker geniuses despair.
But after Max against Rosaline, Aurelian against Morgana, and Ervin against Selene, everyone had already tasted the difference between a strong battle and a true clash of monsters.
Then Angelina raised her hand once more.
The screen above the arena began to rotate.
For some reason, the spinning names seemed slower this time.
The remaining participants looked upward.
Max stood calmly on his pillar, one hand resting near Dragonheart. Rakan Thorne stood on his own pillar, arms crossed over his chest, his wild grin already spreading as if he had sensed something before the names stopped.
The screen flashed.
Two names appeared.
[Final Competitive Stage, Battle Twenty-Three]
[Max Morgan vs Rakan Thorne]
For a breath, the entire Eternal Hourglass arena became silent.
Then the atmosphere exploded.
Rakan Thorne laughed loudly from his pillar, his voice rolling across the arena like thunder. "Finally!"
Max looked toward him with a faint smile.
The other top geniuses immediately focused.
This was different.
This was not a top genius fighting someone below the peak.
This was the first major collision between two true monsters of the final competitive stage.
And outside the Eternal Hourglass, the Divine Realm erupted.
Across countless cities, ancient forces, divine clans, floating palaces, hidden academies, merchant heavens, and starry viewing platforms, enormous light screens reflected the names of Max Morgan and Rakan Thorne.
The Cosmic Ascension Conference had already drawn the attention of the entire Divine Realm, but the moment this pairing appeared, countless spectators stood up at the same time.
"Max Morgan against Rakan Thorne!"
"The black dragon genius against the first Warlord of War God Palace!"
"This is the first real monster-level battle!"
"Max defeated Rosaline’s Pseudo Cosmic Path, but Rakan’s body is like a divine weapon. Can that sword path even cut him?"
"Rakan has not used his full strength once. He might be the strongest body-refining genius in the conference!"
At the Black Dragon Clan, the massive viewing plaza was completely packed.
Countless disciples stood beneath a gigantic screen suspended above the central square. On that screen, Max and Rakan’s names shone in golden light, and the moment the pairing appeared, the excitement that had filled the plaza turned into nervous silence.
Many young disciples clenched their fists. Some had been cheering loudly every time Max won, but now that his opponent was Rakan Thorne, their confidence was mixed with fear.
"That is Rakan Thorne..."
"The first Warlord of War God Palace."
"I heard he once crushed a divine mountain beast with his bare hands."
"He has not even been pushed properly until now."
"Max is strong, but Rakan is different. He is not someone you can defeat with ordinary methods."
"Stop saying unlucky things. Max already defeated Rosaline, and he has not shown everything either."
The disciples argued, but no one could hide the tension in their voices.
Rakan Thorne’s reputation was too heavy.
The War God Palace was one of the strongest first-rate forces in the Divine Realm, and its Warlords were not ordinary geniuses. Each Warlord represented battle, body, will, and war path taken to a frightening level. Rakan, as the first Warlord, carried a name that even other peak geniuses respected.
High above the plaza, Lady Virelia stood before the viewing screen, her elegant face calm but her eyes serious. Around her, the seven family heads of the Black Dragon Clan were also watching. None of them spoke for a while.
Then Lady Virelia softly said, "Max, do well."
Her voice was not loud, but the family heads beside her heard it clearly.
The Grimes family head Matthew nodded slowly. "This battle will show the Divine Realm whether his previous victories were only due to strange methods or whether he can truly stand against the strongest geniuses."
Lady Virelia did not turn away from the screen.
Her gaze remained fixed on Max’s figure.
"All the best, Max," she whispered.
At the same time, inside the War God Palace, the reaction was completely different.
The War God Palace disciples were roaring.
An enormous battlefield-like plaza shook beneath their voices. Thousands of disciples raised their fists, weapons, and war banners toward the huge screen above them. The moment Rakan Thorne’s name appeared opposite Max’s, the entire palace seemed to awaken with battle intent.
"Rakan!"
"First Warlord!"
"Crush him!"
"Show the Divine Realm the strength of the War God Palace!"
"Max Morgan is strong, but no one beats our first Warlord in close combat!"
"Rakan Thorne has not even used his War God Body yet!"
"Let that black dragon genius learn what true war power is!"
The disciples shouted until the sky above the War God Palace trembled.
Several elders watched from higher platforms, their expressions filled with pride and expectation. To them, Rakan Thorne was not merely a participant. He was one of the sharpest blades of their younger generation, a genius raised through blood, battle, pain, and endless war trials.
He was someone who could carry the War God Palace name into the next era.
In a shadowed corner above the battlefield plaza, a silent figure watched the screen.
Saint Reiner stood there without drawing attention.
His eyes were fixed not on Rakan, but on Max.
He had seen many geniuses. He had seen arrogant heirs, monstrous bloodlines, hidden physiques, and terrifying paths. But Max Morgan had become increasingly difficult to measure. Every time people believed they had seen his strength, he revealed another layer.
Saint Reiner’s gaze narrowed slightly.
"Boy," he muttered softly, "let me see your true strength now. Let me see my legacy shine once again."
Back inside the Eternal Hourglass, Rakan Thorne cracked his neck and stepped forward on his pillar.
"Max Morgan," he called out, his grin wild and excited. "I have been waiting for this."
Max looked at him calmly. "I know."
Rakan laughed. "You defeated Rosaline’s Pseudo Cosmic Path with that strange sword path. You crushed soul attacks like they were nothing. You have a strong body, a strong sword, and more secrets than anyone here. But against me, tricks will not be enough."
Max smiled faintly. "Good. I do not like wasting tricks."
Rakan’s grin widened.
Angelina Valerius looked toward both of them.
"Max Morgan. Rakan Thorne. Enter the stage."
Two beams of light descended.
The Divine Realm held its breath.
The first major battle between the peak geniuses was about to begin.
