Chapter 1838: Battle Continues one after another!

Ervin spoke softly.

"Abyssal Origin Descent, Gate of the First Depth."

The broken gate behind him opened a little wider.

The black sea rose.

Selene’s Spear of First Dawn descended.

The spear and the abyssal gate collided.

There was no immediate explosion.

Instead, the golden-white spear pushed into the dark gate inch by inch, while the gate tried to swallow it into its depth. Radiance and abyssal pressure fought silently at first, then the entire collision erupted into a terrifying shockwave that struck the arena barrier from within.

Golden-white light tried to purify the abyss.

The abyss tried to drag the light downward.

Selene gritted her teeth, blood slowly flowing from the corner of her mouth. Her Heavenly Luminance Genesis burned brighter, but her energy was clearly being consumed at a terrifying speed. Ervin also did not look relaxed. His face was slightly paler, and the hand gripping his spear had tightened until his knuckles whitened.

For several breaths, the two seemed evenly matched.

Then Ervin took one step forward.

The black sea behind him rose again.

The gate opened another fraction.

The Spear of First Dawn trembled.

Selene’s pupils contracted.

The golden-white spear began to sink.

It was not breaking but sinking slowly by slowly.

The light was dragged into the gate, swallowed layer by layer by the Abyssal Origin Descent.

Selene forced out more power, and the Heavenly Luminance Genesis behind her blazed with desperate brilliance. For a moment, the spear shone brighter than ever before, piercing deeper into the gate and causing cracks to appear on its surface.

Ervin’s eyes darkened further.

"Abyssal Origin Descent, Return To Depth."

The black sea surged.

A terrifying pull erupted from the opened gate.

The cracked Spear of First Dawn lost its direction.

Its light curved.

Its radiance distorted.

Then, under the shocked gazes of the participants, Selene’s strongest attack was dragged into the gate and vanished.

The Heavenly Luminance Genesis behind her flickered violently.

Selene staggered.

Ervin did not give her time to recover.

He moved.

His figure crossed the stage in silence, not with speed but with depth, as if the distance between them had sunk beneath his feet. Selene tried to raise another luminance barrier, but the abyssal pressure around Ervin’s spear dragged the barrier downward before it could fully form.

His spear stopped in front of her chest.

The black spear tip did not touch her, but the abyssal aura around it made her entire body stiffen. Selene’s face was pale, and her Heavenly Luminance Genesis had already become unstable behind her.

Angelina Valerius looked at the stage calmly.

"Selene Vaeloria is unable to continue."

Selene clenched her teeth, humiliation and disbelief flashing in her eyes.

But she could not deny it.

She had lost.

[Winner: Ervin.]

[Selene Vaeloria Defeated.]

The screen above the arena changed.

The arena remained silent.

This silence was different from before.

When Max defeated Rosaline, everyone had been shocked by the strangeness of Emotion Severing Path. When Aurelian defeated Morgana, they had been shocked by the domineering authority of Heavenly Luminance Divine Dominion. But Ervin’s Pseudo Cosmic Path had created a different kind of shock.

It was mysterious.

Heavy.

Deep.

It did not feel like an attack that simply destroyed its enemy. It felt like a path that returned everything to some unknown depth where all things eventually sank.

Rakan Thorne stared at Ervin with rare seriousness. "That guy is not simple."

Orion Starfall’s smile had disappeared. "Abyssal Origin Descent. I have never heard of such a Pseudo Cosmic Path."

Kaiden Voidmere’s eyes narrowed. "That gate is the problem. The sea is only the surface."

Revona looked at Ervin with her Void Origin Eyes open, and even she did not look completely relaxed.

Damian Voss’s grip tightened slightly around his sword hilt.

Aurelian Lareth’s expression became colder as he watched Selene lose. As the Divine Daughter of the second faction, Selene’s defeat was not merely personal. It also meant that the second faction’s prestige had been struck in front of everyone.

Max stood on his pillar, his gaze fixed on Ervin.

He had fought Ervin in the Genesis Trial. He knew Ervin was strong. He knew Ervin had hidden much of his power. But even Max had not expected his Pseudo Cosmic Path to be this strange.

’Abyssal Origin Descent,’ Max thought. ’That gate swallowed Selene’s Spear of First Dawn instead of breaking it. If I fight him, I cannot treat it like ordinary darkness or ordinary abyssal power.’

On the stage, Ervin withdrew his spear.

The black sea behind him faded slowly, and the broken gate disappeared last. Even as it vanished, Max felt as if something behind that gate had looked at the arena for a brief moment.

Selene was returned to her pillar by a beam of light, her face still pale and her eyes filled with unwillingness.

Ervin returned to his own pillar quietly, as if nothing special had happened.

But everyone now looked at him differently.

After Ervin returned to his pillar, the atmosphere inside the Eternal Hourglass remained heavy for a long time.

Selene Vaeloria had lost.

That fact alone was enough to silence many people. She was the Divine Daughter of the second elven faction, a wielder of the Heavenly Luminance Royal Bloodline, and someone who had revealed the terrifying Pseudo Cosmic Path, Heavenly Luminance Genesis.

Yet even after using the Spear of First Dawn, she had still been defeated by Ervin’s mysterious Abyssal Origin Descent. The black sea and broken gate behind Ervin had left a deep impression on every remaining participant, and even the top geniuses who had been relaxed earlier were now looking at him with more caution.

However, the final competitive stage did not stop because of anyone’s shock.

Angelina Valerius stood calmly above the arena and continued announcing battles.

The next few matches ended far more quickly.

A hidden swordsman from a minor divine force stepped onto the stage against a beast-blooded warrior and won in only four sword strikes, his blade moving so quietly that even some participants failed to catch the exact rhythm of his attack.

A bloodfire woman from the Blood Sun Temple defeated a soul-bell user by burning the sound waves before they could reach her mind, forcing him to surrender once his bells began cracking under her crimson flames.

Rosaline Lunara fought again and recovered from her earlier loss by suppressing her opponent with radiant seals, never needing to reveal Dawn Sovereign Sanctuary a second time. Fin Arclight defeated another mid-tier participant with Pale Eclipse Burial, though he only opened the edge of his Pseudo Cosmic Path for a breath before forcing his opponent to lose all sense of direction.

Morgana Starveil fought a silent spear genius and won by placing a curse on his shadow, causing every thrust he made to bend away from her at the last moment until he finally surrendered with an ugly expression.
