Chapter 346: Chapter 346: Emerald Power
Chu Qingyun opened the cauldron’s lid and saw a seal shimmering with a brilliant silver light at the bottom.
A very distinct fluctuation of Primordial Power emanated from the seal.
This made Chu Qingyun furrow his brow. ’This seal must be tough if it’s giving off such a distinct fluctuation of Primordial Power.’
There were three common methods to break a seal.
The first and most common method was to use overwhelming Primordial Power to forcibly break it. This required a power far greater than that of the seal itself to shatter it in a single strike.
The second method was to use technique—employing a small amount of Primordial Power to unravel the seal based on its construction. This approach required an intimate knowledge of seals.
The third method was simply to have the one who cast the seal return and withdraw their Primordial Power, at which point the seal would naturally dissolve.
The latter two methods were clearly not an option for Chu Qingyun. So, he condensed a highly refined strand of Primordial Power at his fingertip and jabbed it sharply at the seal!
POP!
With a soft sound, the Primordial Power at Chu Qingyun’s fingertip instantly shattered, like an egg hitting a stone. It was completely ineffective against the seal.
’What a powerful seal. With the current strength of my Primordial Power, it’s impossible to break it by force!’
Chu Qingyun frowned, muttering to himself.
In order to sell the Pill Cauldron, the auction house had conveniently omitted the fact that not even a Martial King Level expert could break its seal. Otherwise, it would have been even more difficult to sell.
In all of Great Xia, the only one who had surpassed the Martial King Realm was the imperial family’s Emperor Realm ancestor. But who on earth could convince someone of his stature to help?
’Let’s try the Devouring Power.’
With a single thought, Chu Qingyun connected with his Devouring Martial Soul, and a strand of dark, abyssal Devouring Power appeared in his hand.
Pressing his hand against the seal, Chu Qingyun activated his Devouring Power and began to forcibly devour the Primordial Power within it.
However, when the Devouring Power touched the seal, it couldn’t devour even a trace of the Primordial Power!
Devouring Power was just another force of nature; it wasn’t omnipotent.
This seal had clearly been left by an incredibly formidable individual. Even after so much time had passed, the Devouring Power was still helpless against it!
’I refuse to believe it...’
Chu Qingyun gritted his teeth and unleashed even more Devouring Power, blanketing the entire seal and trying to devour it with all his might.
After a minute, there was still not the slightest bit of progress.
Just as Chu Qingyun was about to give up, the Devouring Power suddenly stirred.
The Devouring Power in three spots transformed into three thin black threads, which then pierced through the surface of the seal!
A seal wasn’t something you could create by simply slapping a layer of Primordial Power on top of an object.
If it were that simple, the power would quickly dissipate without a continuous source to sustain it.
A true seal used Primordial Power to form something similar to an Array, which stabilized the power and allowed it to last for a long time.
However, this process inevitably left gaps within the seal. It was extremely difficult for Primordial Power to enter these gaps, as no one could possibly control their power with such fine precision.
But the Devouring Power was different. It didn’t require any deliberate control from Chu Qingyun. The three strands of power simply snaked their way deeper into the seal’s interior.
The entire process lasted for nearly five minutes. After tracing an extremely complex trajectory within the seal, the three strands of Devouring Power finally reached its core.
It was a shame Chu Qingyun was completely ignorant of Sealing Techniques; otherwise, he might have gained some insight from the process.
Once the three strands of Devouring Power entered the seal, Chu Qingyun could clearly sense a wave of extreme excitement coming from his Devouring Martial Soul, even though he couldn’t see what was happening inside.
Without any need for Chu Qingyun’s control, more Devouring Power surged from his Devouring Martial Soul. It flooded through the three channels into the seal and began to devour frantically.
Chu Qingyun could distinctly feel streams of a jade-green power flowing from the Devouring Power and pouring unceasingly into his body.
This power split in two inside Chu Qingyun’s body. Half was absorbed by his Devouring Martial Soul, vanishing without a trace.
The other half was absorbed by Chu Qingyun’s own body.
In an instant, Chu Qingyun felt his entire being, even his spirit and soul, being washed clean from the inside out. Every cell, every fiber of his soul, was filled with Life Power and vitality!
When Chu Qingyun had told Liu Canghai he was tired, he wasn’t entirely lying. After five consecutive days of Alchemy followed by attending an auction for more than two days, Chu Qingyun was indeed mentally and physically exhausted.
But the moment his body absorbed the first wisp of that jade-green power, all of his fatigue, both mental and physical, was swept away completely!
Moreover, nourished by this power, Chu Qingyun could clearly feel both his Soul Power and his physical body steadily growing stronger!
Meanwhile, after absorbing the power, his Devouring Martial Soul was also undergoing subtle changes.
After about ten seconds, both Chu Qingyun’s body and soul reached a saturation point and could absorb no more.
But the jade-green power had not been completely consumed. The excess energy gathered on the inside of Chu Qingyun’s right forearm, near the center, and condensed into a small, jade-green dot.
Half of the incoming power was absorbed by his Devouring Martial Soul, while the other half continuously converged on that little dot and was stored there.
This went on for nearly ten minutes before the Devouring Power finally consumed all the jade-green energy inside the seal.
With its contents gone, and with Devouring Power filling it from both inside and out, the seal could no longer hold. It shattered with a loud BANG.
Once the seal was destroyed, the Spirit Level Pill Cauldron seemed to awaken, and a scorching aura began to slowly radiate from the cauldron itself.
Flames even erupted from the fire-patterned reliefs on its exterior, enveloping the entire Pill Cauldron.
After retracting his Devouring Power, Chu Qingyun stretched his limbs. His gaze suddenly sharpened, locking onto the Pill Cauldron bathed in fire. His Soul Power surged out like a tidal wave, forcing all the surrounding flames back into the fire-patterned reliefs!
’My Soul Power has grown so much stronger! If I were to challenge that senior’s Array of Cauldrons trial now, I could probably lift that ten-meter-tall giant cauldron with ease!’
Those seventy thousand drops of Primordial Spirit Liquid were absolutely worth it!
He studied the green dot on his arm for a while longer but gained no new insights.
Chu Qingyun used his Primordial Power to slice his finger, dripped a drop of blood onto the Pill Cauldron to claim ownership, and then stored it in his Storage Ring.
’A cauldron bathed in fiery clouds... I’ll call you... the Fire Cloud Cauldron.’
What Chu Qingyun didn’t know, however, was that...
at the very moment that jade-green power was completely devoured, in the impossibly distant Central State, a figure that seemed as ancient and eternal as time itself suddenly opened its eyes.
"A wisp of my power has completely vanished! Who did this? Annihilation? No, impossible... Could it be... that Devouring has appeared again?"
