Chapter 345: Chapter 345: Too Tired Today
"I’ve been looking for you for two days, Chu Qingyun. You’ve finally decided to come back."
Liu Canghai looked at Chu Qingyun, his eyes filled with boundless anger and resentment.
In his mind, if it weren’t for Chu Qingyun, Mu never would have gotten any leverage on him. Now, he’d been forced onto this crooked path, with no way to get off.
"Looking for me?"
Chu Qingyun furrowed his brow. "What do you want with me?"
"Hmph, cut the crap and come with me out of the city," Liu Canghai said with a cold snort.
"Leave the city? And why would I go with you?"
As Chu Qingyun spoke, he sized Liu Canghai up and down, sensing that something was amiss.
As if he’d expected the question, Liu Canghai sneered, took out several Great Xia Dragon Guard Tokens from within his robes, and threw them at Chu Qingyun’s feet.
"The Qi on these Tokens... you recognize it, don’t you? If you know what’s good for you, you’ll come with me. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee their lives!"
After speaking, Liu Canghai turned and headed outside.
But after a few steps, he sensed something was wrong. He turned his head and saw Chu Qingyun still standing in place, watching him with a cold smirk, showing no sign of following.
Of course Chu Qingyun recognized the Qi on the Tokens. They belonged to the five of them: Xia He, Sun Daxiong, Xiao Feng, Chen Yu, and Huang Yinghao.
’But so what?’
’If he thought he could lure me out of the city with just a few Tokens, he was seriously underestimating me...’
"Chu Qingyun, what’s the meaning of this? Are you just going to let them die?" Liu Canghai demanded, his brow furrowed and his expression grim.
But Chu Qingyun ignored him, simply staring at him intently, as if lost in thought.
"Chu Qingyun, what the hell do you mean by this!"
Anger flashed across Liu Canghai’s face.
"Liu Canghai, the Martial Soul Hall’s mole in the Celestial Wind Army... it’s you, isn’t it!?" A sharp glint flashed in Chu Qingyun’s eyes as he suddenly demanded.
Hearing this, Liu Canghai’s expression changed drastically. "You... you’re spouting nonsense!"
"You look so flustered. If it’s not you, who could it be? It looks like I’ll have to hand you over to the Lord Military Commander," Chu Qingyun said with a cold smirk, his eyes fixed on Liu Canghai.
At this moment, Liu Canghai still hadn’t realized that the initiative he once held was slowly but surely being seized by Chu Qingyun.
"You brat, this is all your fault!"
"Just die!"
Liu Canghai’s suppressed anger and resentment finally boiled over. He threw a punch, unleashing a torrent of Primordial Power that rushed toward Chu Qingyun.
"You’re the one courting death... Iron Thread Ten-Star Vine!"
With a soft cry, Chu Qingyun unleashed his Tier Four Martial Soul. Two vines shot out, growing at an incredible speed. With two sharp cracks, they slapped away Liu Canghai’s Primordial Power before easily binding him tight.
With Chu Qingyun’s current power, he didn’t even have to lift a finger to deal with Liu Canghai!
Bound by the Iron Thread Ten-Star Vine, the shock seemed to clear Liu Canghai’s rage-addled mind. He gritted his teeth and said, "Kid, let me go! If you don’t come out of the city with me, Xia He and the others are dead!"
"Hmph. And you think going with you outside the city will save Xia He and the others?"
"Liu Canghai, do you take me for a three-year-old? You expect me to walk right into such an obvious trap? What if the Martial Soul Hall has Earth Spirit Realm or even Celestial Spirit Realm experts waiting outside? I wouldn’t be able to save Xia He and the others, and I’d get myself killed in the process!"
"I think it’s best if I hand you over to the Lord Military Commander and let him arrange things."
As he spoke, Chu Qingyun made a move to drag Liu Canghai outside.
This time, Liu Canghai finally panicked. "Wait! I-I’m sure of it! There are absolutely no Earth Spirit Realm cultivators outside, much less Celestial Spirit Realm! The highest Realm among them is only a third-level Martial Spirit!"
"Oh? You’re that certain? Then tell me exactly what’s going on." Now it was Chu Qingyun who was in no hurry at all.
As for Liu Canghai, his face was pale with anger.
He never expected that even with five of his friends captured, Chu Qingyun could remain so calm. Not only did he not panic and rush out of the city, he had even turned the tables on him.
Left with no choice, Liu Canghai told Chu Qingyun everything he knew.
Xia He and the other four were close and had similar levels of strength, so they had been assigned to carry out an urgent mission together outside the city.
Naturally, this information didn’t escape the notice of Liu Canghai, who had been keeping a close watch.
So, he told Mu, who then dispatched many of his subordinates to capture all five of them alive. Then, he had Liu Canghai use their Tokens to force Chu Qingyun out of the city.
’I see...’ Chu Qingyun thought for a moment before asking, "Then how can you be sure that this... Mu... doesn’t have any Earth Spirit Realm experts under him?"
"Even though Mu is highly favored by the Martial Soul Hall’s Lianshan County Sub-Palace Master and has been given full authority over this operation against the Great Xia Dragon Guard, the Martial Soul Hall doesn’t seem to want to provoke an all-out war. That’s why they haven’t assigned any Earth Spirit Realm experts to him."
"Besides, the Great Xia Dragon Guard’s control over Lianshan County is deeply entrenched, especially around the County City. The appearance of any unfamiliar Earth Spirit Realm or Celestial Spirit Realm experts would never escape their notice."
Liu Canghai explained with his head lowered, his voice laced with helplessness.
He was stunned to realize that he had come here to threaten Chu Qingyun into leaving the city with him, but now it was as if he were begging him to go.
"Very well. I’ll leave the city with you tomorrow."
Chu Qingyun asked a few more detailed questions. Once he was convinced that Liu Canghai wasn’t lying, he agreed to leave the city with him.
After all, his earlier threats were just to scare Liu Canghai.
When it came to Xia He and his friends, there was no way Chu Qingyun would actually leave them to die.
"Tomorrow? Why tomorrow?" Liu Canghai demanded urgently. "Chu Qingyun, what are you playing at?"
"It doesn’t mean anything. I’m just tired today."
Chu Qingyun couldn’t be bothered to explain. With a flick of a vine, he tossed Liu Canghai out and shut the courtyard gate behind him.
Rescuing Xia He and his friends wouldn’t be easy, even without Earth Spirit Realm experts in the way. Naturally, Chu Qingyun needed to prepare thoroughly.
Standing at the gate, Liu Canghai’s expression was incredibly foul.
In the end, however, he could only sigh helplessly and leave in utter frustration.
Threatened by Mu on one side and Chu Qingyun on the other... being a traitor, caught between two fires, was truly a thankless job.
After tossing Liu Canghai out, Chu Qingyun waited in his room for a while. Soon, the people from the auction house arrived, delivering the Spirit Level cauldron he had purchased.
After seeing the delivery men out, Chu Qingyun locked his door and began to examine the seal on the cauldron.
He also discovered that as he got closer to the cauldron, the trembling from his Devouring Martial Soul grew even more intense.
He could even feel a faint sense of excitement coming from the Devouring Martial Soul.
The Devouring Martial Soul had always been just a chaotic mass. This was the first time it had ever displayed such a feeling.
