Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Shalaxin
The hole in his chest had closed but his heart was taking time to regenerate and during that time, he would be weak.
" I’ll support you from the back." Annie told him, transparent silver blades appeared around her.
Adrian moved, the air around him shattered but he frowned, he noticed he was slower than his usual speed.
’ This is even effecting my physical strength.’ his slower speed was a massive weakness against this thing.
It moved for the kill, it turned itself invisible again but the ice around its body made it easy to see.
It was also slower than before, still, it was much faster than he currently was. The only thing Adrian could do was block.
He swung his claws to deflect its scythe, sparks flew, a tremendous force was transmitted to his arms.
His muscles ripped apart, ’ Damnit, I’m too weak.’ the wounds regenerated but much slower than they usually would.
More so, while the ripped muscles were regenerating, the rate his heart was regenerating at slowed down.
Adrian gritted his teeth, transparent silver blades flew passed him as fast as lightning, the creature failed to dodge.
The blades pierced through its head but they didn’t cause any damage. Yet it fell on the ground and screeched loudly in agony.
This was Annie’s ability, she could directly attack the mind ignoring your physical body, it was a powerful ability hard time deal with.
Adrian didn’t waste the chance and went for the kill, his claws descended upon its head like falling daggers.
They gleamed like polished metal under the night sky. The winds howled pushing the leaves and dust away.
BOOOOOM, the ground shattered under his claws, stone fragments flew in everything direction like bullets.
Adrian turned his head and looked to the left and there the creature stood watching him and Naledi vigilantly.
Realising its invisibility was useless, it stopped using it. Adrian sighed with relief, that ability was a nuisance.
" Huh?" His arm suddenly went flying through the air, he looked back and saw it standing behind him.
Before he could react, one of its tentacles lashed out and grabbed his arm, it started eating his arm in front of him.
Adrian furrowed his brows, ’ It has gotten faster?’ Adrian had barely seen it move that time.
" Be careful." Annie warned him, " I recognise what this is now."
He looked at her waiting for her to continue, she jumped next to him, her eyes shaking with a bit of dread.
" It’s a Shalaxin, they’re one of the old races like the Shaggathan, unlike the shaggathan, they’re a solo type Gadra.
However that makes them that much more dangerous, they were once worshipped as Gods of speed in the ancient days.
Adrian, using their invisibility makes them slower, now, I’m afraid its speed had certainly increased by at least two times, dealing with it will be harder."
He nodded, " So, do you know what its blood trait is?" He asked.
She nodded, " It’s called flash of the thunder god, it increases its speed and sharpness of its scythe to extreme levels."
" So, how do we deal with it? There must be a way to take it down right?"
" It doesn’t do well in water but we’re nowhere near a large body of water, it also can’t run well in mud.
It’s a cold blooded creature like a reptile so cold temperatures can slow it down too."
Adrian looked at the ice surrounding the creatures body and frowned, " It doesn’t look slowed down to me."
" It is actually, this thing is fast Adrian, incredibly fast. In ancient times when the old races ruled the world.
There were very few races who could match it in speed, even amongst the ancient races who came before the old ones, only those like the divine sun bird were faster.
Matching its speed on the same level is hard enough, let alone fighting two levels above yours."
She sounded grim. Adrian’s face also turned grim, if she was right then they might be more screwed than he realised.
" How long until your heart regenerate?" She asked. He closed his eyes and sensed inside him.
" 20 seconds." His answer made her face even more grim. 20 seconds were a very long time.
Adrian took a fighting stance, the creature turned towards him then he saw something even more terrifying.
It was transforming, or evolving. ’ Shit, it consumed my arm.’ this was the first time something ate a piece of him without his permission.
He already knew his blood can break the limits of other races on top of being able to heal wounds.
’ Consuming my flesh must have an even stronger effect, damnit, I messed up.’
" HOW DARE YOU!" both of them heard a loud roar filled with overwhelming rage.
A rain of silver descended from the sky, the ground shattered like bombs had gone off in front of them.
They turned their heads and saw a group of werewolves led by Sam running towards them.
Suzie’s face was twisted with rage, the werewolves landed and surrounded the two of them.
’ I was so focused on this thing I didn’t even sense these guys were already here.’ he had been expecting them.
" Dude, sorry we’re late, you look rough." Sam tapped his shoulder.
" Sam, show respect to the lord or I’ll kill you." Suzie threatened.
" Alright." Sam yawned, in the blink of an eye he transformed into his full werewolf form. Seeing the state of Adrian, the others didn’t dare underestimate their enemy.
Every werewolf except the Omega who couldn’t transform took their full werewolf forms.
Suzie conjured a sphere around them, John and his lineage stood in front then defensively.
Amongst them was the massive nameless giant wielding hammers the size of a human, the giant looked down in shame.
" I’m still not worthy of a name." He whispered to himself. Then there was Melissa and her lineage.
They were the vanguard of the wolf pack, the front like attackers. They weren’t the only ones but definitely the most active.
Suki took her position next to Annie, her Kusarigama split into 18 chains that formed a net around them.
Then the Delta all took their positions followed by the Gemma and then the omega, they surrounded the Shalaxin.
It looked at them with its large eyes, Annie transmitted the information about it to the pack.
Sam and Marcus took the front positions, if it relied on speed, then they figured they would be the most effective against it.
Members of Suki’s lineage also took their positions, their idea was so seal the battlefield and limit its space which would lower the effect of its speed.
Adrian watched all of this with a grim expression, he had a bad feeling about this battle.
" Be careful all of you, just hold on until my heart regenerate."
