Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Head Off
A few days passed, the guests left, the 12 days were over and they were finally safe from the Grieved Souls.
Adrian finally woke up, the first thing he saw was a beautiful face staring down on him. Tears fell on his face.
He reached up and wiped the tears from her eyes, " Don’t cry, it’s hurt me to see you like that." He whispered in a soft voice.
Annie nodded and wiped the tears, Adrian tried to stand up but he fell back down, he didn’t have enough strength.
His body was fine he could tell that much but it seemed to be slightly disconnected from his brain.
" Don’t move, rest please." Annie leaned down and kissed his forehead. He closed his eyes and went to sleep.
He woke up a few hours later to find her sitting next to him, there was a tray of food on the table.
Next to the tray was a bleeding heart the size of a human placed in the floor. The heart was clearly from a peak level 4 Gadra.
" Thank you." He thanked her and sat up, he had regained a bit of his strength, he tried to take the food but she stopped him.
" Let me." She started feeding him but he didn’t resist, he ate slowly and when he was done she chopped the heart.
She fed it to him piece by piece, Adrian could feel himself regaining his strength with each piece.
He had already reached the maximum amount of esper he could have at his level so the esper from the heart was directly converted to stamina.
When he was done he had mostly regained his strength, he was probably at 70 percent which was enough.
They packed and left, he noticed there was nobody when he got downstairs. " Have the guests left!" He asked.
She nodded, " The last one left this morning."
He nodded, " I must’ve been asleep for quite a while then, thank you for taking care of me."
She smiled softly, " You don’t have to thank me, you’re my man, if I don’t take care of you, then who would!"
He kissed her then they left, some of the owners around the guild had returned and were rebuilding their shops.
Adrian and Annie started at the management office of the black market, they had done the damage and needed to pay.
The black market might be a den of the scum and fugitives of society but it still has rules.
Of course they couldn’t be blamed to the battle itself since it was in self defence, that’s why the black market management hadn’t visited them yet.
They paid 8 353 Rei, that was more than enough to cover the costs of rebuilding the shops they destroyed with change to spare.
Then they left the black market, the plan was to stay out for a while before returning and when he did.
Adrian looked up into the darkness hanging above him, ’ I wonder what the world above looks like.’
They left through a gate and appeared in a huge forest. Then started running in a certain direction.
" Stop." He whispered and they came to a stop. Both sniffed the air then frowned.
" There are people in front of us, I also smell blood, I wonder what’s happening."
Annie nodded, her sense of smell was not a strong as his but she could faintly smell the scent of blood and that of some Fayera ahead.
They were still more than 50 kilometres away from those people so they chose to change directions.
But that would delay them even further, the reason they had chosen this path in the first place was that it was safer.
This forest was actually on the other end of the forest of dancing trees, on either side of it were mountain ranges that reached the clouds.
The ambient esper was thick and therefore there were a lot of Gadra, it’s believed deeper into the mountain ranges there were Gadra even at level 8.
However that was unlikely, ambient esper of this level was not enough to support the survival of Gadra that powerful.
It would be like a human trying to survive in a place with very low levels of oxygen, breathing would be hard.
Still, neither of them had any interest in dealing with any Fayera or Espara right now so they changed directions.
This forced them to increase their speeds in order to make up for the longer distance. The forest around was silent.
At first, they would see one or two Gadra running around, most were weak herbivorous Gadra.
There were a few carnivores but they were the weakest kind as well but the further in they went, the less they saw.
They sniffed the air but the scents were so many it was hard to distinguish what exactly were they smelling.
They both suddenly came to a stop, " Do you feel it?" Annie asked softly and he nodded.
Something was watching them, Adrian used lunar realm immediately, the lunar realm had barely spread out for 10 metres when he saw it.
The creature was about the size of a human and resembled a mantis with two long scythe for arms.
Its head looked like that of a crocodile with three rows of razer sharp teeth and instead of wings on its back it had two tentacles.
Both tentacles ended in sharp spikes and it was fast, too fast. By the time he noticed it, it was already too close.
Adrian acted, he teleported in front of Annie who had also perceived a moment after him, time seemed to slow down.
Its scythe cut through the air at a blinding speed. Blood flew through the air, Adrian looked down and saw his body falling down from the tree.
" AHHHHHHH!" Annie panicked and screamed, her ability blazed out, am invisible force spread out of her rapidly.
The scythe creature collided with this force and cut a hole through it but it was pushed back hundreds of metres away.
It broke through multiple trees before coming to a stop. Annie glared at it with uncontrollable rage.
" You know I’m fine right?" She heard his voice and paused.
" Oh right, cutting your head off isn’t enough to kill you." She grabbed his head and placed it on his neck while watching that creature.
It had made itself visible when it collided with her telekinesis force. Adrian’s neck mended itself.
In a blink of an eye he had reattached his head to his body but there was still a visible scar that was still healing.
" I told you to wear the plate but you didn’t listen, if you weren’t such a monster, you’d be dead by now."
She punched him on his shoulder, Adrian laughed. " Yeah but I am a monster and it will take more than this thing to take me down."
His body transformed and he took his full werewolf form. Annie followed after him. " AWOOOOO!"
Their howls pierced through the forest traveling for hundreds of kilometres. Somewhere deep within the mountain ranges.
A werewolf’s ears perked, he was a Gemma scout from one of Alex’s lineage, the first amongst his lineage.
" AWOOOOO!" He howled and multiple howls followed from deeper within the mountain ranges.
