Chapter 195: Chapter 195: Theurgy

It was ancient type of magic so old nobody even knew its origin but according to witch law.

This was the first magic to brace the world, the mother of all magic including demonic magic itself.

The hexagram lit up with blinding light whose colour transcended the knowledge of Annie.

She could see it yet see through it as if it was no there, her brain simply translated the light to be blue in colour.

The mysterious light washed over Meggie and made her body shine as well. She coughed up a mouthful of blood.

The candles lit up one by one then a cold presence seemed to enter the room from all directions.

Black fog descended from the sky into Adrian’s body. This suprised Annie but she was too slow to act.

It all happened so fast when she blinked it was all over. She looked at Meggie with worry but Meggie didn’t react.

’ It’s fine Annie, she would never hurt Adrian.’ she told herself so she wouldn’t panic.

---------------------------------------

In Adrian’s mind space. The transparent dome surrounding him cracked but the cracks were too small to clearly see.

Before Adrian could react, six flames bloomed around him forming a hexagon, they surrounded him with warmth.

Then the dome shattered like glass and the sea of blood red metal descended upon like a tsunami.

It came from all sides but slowed down when it touched the light from the six flames. Unfortunately the flames were not enough.

Before long they burnt out and their light ceased to be. Adrian panicked but before the sea could reach him.

Six silver lights appeared around him also forming a hexagon but one much smaller, the silver light delayed the sea a bit longer.

Yet the endless sea of blood continued in its attempt to drown him. Adrian immediately realised he couldn’t stop it.

The sea was too much, his power alone would not be enough in the slightest. Be closed his eyes and waited for his doom.

Then the temperature around him dropped, he felt a powerful and vast presence surrounding his body.

He opened his eyes and saw himself surrounded by thick black fog that bellowed out like a cloud.

The fog collided with the blood sea and the impact shook Adrian, he felt his body cracking from the pressure.

But his wounds started mending themselves even though their speed was too slow compared to his regular regeneration.

The blood metal sea and the black fog collided countless times in the time it took for him to blink.

The sea appeared endless in the literal sense, Adrian couldn’t see its end and whenever he tried to focus on it.

His head would start pounding as if it was being split in half forcing him to look away, he could only look at the part closest to him.

The depth of the blood metal sea seemed to hold secret be was not qualified to know of as of yet.

The two forces clashed around him over and over again, he felt like he was standing on a small raft at the centre of a storm.

Finally the black fog started pushing the blood metal sea away, the sea retreated slowly.

Eventually it had left the boundaries of his domain, the dome that had broken mended itself.

Adrian noticed it was slightly larger and more solid now as if it had grown stronger, the blood metal sea could no longer break it.

When it was done, the black fog retreated and disappeared in front of his eyes, he had no idea where it had gone.

--------------------------------

Back in his room.

Adrian stopped convulsing making Annie sigh a breath she didn’t even know she was holding.

She raised her head and looked at the pale faced Meggie, Meggie’s chest was heaving, whatever spell she had used seemed to have taken a toll.

" I need to go." Before Annie could say anything Meggie teleported away leaving her dumbfounded.

Annie shook her head, she really couldn’t understand that woman. She took Adrian and carried him to his bed.

Then laid his head on her thighs and started brushing his hair while singing a low soothing hum.

She stayed like that for a few days until Adrian woke up but before that.

Meggie had appeared in her hut and immediately fell on her knees. She coughed up more blood.

Her pitch black lustrous hair turned white and grey rapidly, her skin grew wrinkles and she aged 4 000 years in a few seconds.

As a level 7 witch, Meggie had a long life ahead her, especially considering she had a spell to increase her lifespan.

However the spell she had used was from a branch of magic called Theurgy or worship magic.

It was the first magic ever used by humans, back then they were weak, too weak to defend themselves.

In a world where the first generation of ancients walked, the humans were nothing but ants.

They learnt this magic out of desperation and reverence to the creatures they basically worshipped as gods.

At some point it was also called totem magic, magic that borrows the power of a stronger being for a price.

She had sacrificed over 4000 years of her life to summon a fragment of that creatures will to help Adrian.

Fortunately it worked and that thing heard her or...she didn’t dare finish her thoughts as the very thought was terrifying.

Meggie stood back up, her previously young face now had wrinkles, she looked like a woman in her fifties.

" I need to find the seventh memory fragment and reach level 8, the last one.." she sighed.

The last fragment was in the hands of a demon and she didn’t even know which demon it wasn’t.

Hopefully it wasn’t one of the four archduches of hell or she’s afraid she would be royally doomed.

The spell she had used to split herself had a massive side effects. If she can gather the fragments.

Her power would return to its peak instantly but if she couldn’t, she would be stuck on the same level forever.

Her power couldn’t grow and she couldn’t learn new spells, it was a double edged sword but one that was necessary.

" Now, how do I deal with the Axiom? Fortunately that was merely them dream walking or they would’ve identified Adrian, I can’t have that."
