Chapter 1384: Chapter 36: Flower Garden (Part 2)

"Thinking about this at such a time... Speaking of strange things, I just feel that the atmosphere in the Dragon Court is getting increasingly odd. Earlier, at such a large noise by the coast, did they think we couldn’t hear it? Is it because those guys from the north are coming to attack, so some spies have infiltrated?"

"Don’t talk nonsense. The South Branch Mountain is not so easy to cross. Just focus on sweeping the floor. Come with me this afternoon to take a look. I want to see what those pretty gemstones really look like too!"

"..."

...

...

Fisher quickly managed to slip into the Praying Tower. For someone like him from a Mythical Species, sneaking into a place like this wasn’t too difficult, especially since the Red Dragon Court’s resources were quite strained at the moment. In a society at war, all resources are directed towards the war effort, so of course, not much valuable Magic or guards could be wasted here.

If this place could be attacked, it would likely signify that the Red Dragon Court was doomed.

He bypassed the area where the officials worked and headed straight to the back of the Royal Court.

The Royal Court was even quieter this morning than yesterday. It didn’t look like a place where the Dragon-man Species royals lived; there were no corresponding guards, no waiters, and many of the rooms were even directly confiscated for handling affairs. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Even in the bright morning, it was exceptionally quiet here, with not a sound, as if everyone had something busy to attend to.

It seemed that Rafael and Moli were not here either.

Fisher removed the cloak from his head and let Emhardt fly out from his embrace.

He glanced around at the extraordinarily quiet surroundings, then turned back and said to Fisher,

"Phew, luckily they are all busy, or you’d be in trouble if they found out you sneaked out last night."

Fisher fanned himself with his long sleeves, and his body undulated irregularly, making Emhardt shiver and ask,

"Wait, what are you doing?"

"... Getting rid of the excess odor on me. Just using a fan would take too long, so I had to use this method to eliminate the scent on my body."

Emhardt opened his mouth dryly and said,

"Reading those things has made your thinking more... peculiar. To even think of such a method... If you ever stop liking Lady, then I’ll really suspect you’ve been bewitched by that Chaotic Knowledge."

"That day will never come."

Ever since he reunited with Rafael, he could hardly catch a breath. From yesterday until now, it was wave after wave, keeping him on edge. Now that the Royal Court was so quiet, his mind began to relax.

He stretched out lazily, walking towards his room, intending to take a break and unwind a bit. He started recalling and organizing the information and content he obtained yesterday, planning his next steps.

"Did you just call Saint Nali? Did Elizabeth not answer?"

"Yes, an Inner Court Official answered."

Fisher’s mind recalled that calm, mature female voice named "Dianne," the Chief of the Inner Court.

"So, you don’t plan to contact Elizabeth?"

"Not for the time being."

"But even so, you already called this morning. Elizabeth will definitely know you called, and if she finds out you’re under suspicion, she’ll come looking for you."

"She can’t trace where the call came from, and it wasn’t she who personally answered. The other operators and Inner Court Officials are all newly appointed within the last four and a half years, so most likely they’ve never seen me. The name Fisher Benavides must still work well throughout these years; given the affair between her and me back then, most Nali people knew, and there would be plenty trying to take advantage, but Elizabeth should be able to discern."

Fisher’s expression was calm, as he knew Elizabeth and Nali City well,

"She only trusts her judgment, not easily believing others, even if her judgment is wrong. Only when she speaks with me directly will she be sure of my presence and not fear exposing myself."

"How could I worry about you being exposed? I’d rather you be exposed. Adding Queen Elizabeth into the mix... I dread thinking about it."

"I dare to think about it."

Emhardt glared at the lazily stretching, fully relaxed Fisher with dead fish eyes, who at the moment seemed like just an ordinary human. The wonders of the Life Completion Manual’s knowledge, though he couldn’t fully read it right now, the exploration and application of already acquired parts were necessary.

Fisher and Emhardt continued walking a long way, through the quiet corridor back to his room’s entrance.

Yawning, he pushed open his door, revealing Rafael seated coldly on his bed.

"Oh, out all night, I should..."

Emhardt, who had entered first, was about to stretch and yawn, but upon seeing Rafael inside, his expression stiffened and quickly turned into an awkward smile. He greeted,

"Hi, Rafael."

"This doesn’t concern you; get out."

Rafael’s expression was not pleasant. She wore a black casual dress, scrutinized Fisher at the door meticulously, crossed her arms and legs, and was surrounded by a wisp of hot steam. Her tail behind her was restlessly coiled on the bed like a venomous snake.
