Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Go Beg Ian Preston

Ian Preston never once thought of giving up.

Putting aside all the past events, just counting from when Thea Lynch went abroad, he has already waited for over seven years.

How could he easily give up?

In recent days, he has seriously pondered the relationship between them.

"You don’t have to be like this, third brother." Thea Lynch pressed her lips together, her emotions mixed and conflicted. "I’ve already told you very clearly. I will not like you."

"You have no need to waste another year with me."

In a year, Ian Preston will truly reach his thirties.

The elders in the family urging him is normal as well. But she felt that Ian staking all his ’chips’ on her was not a rational move.

"With this time, third brother could completely find someone else who you like and who likes you back, and is suitable."

"No one said it has to be me..."

Ian Preston suddenly interrupted her, "But you have indeed been my only choice all these years."

Thea Lynch: "..."

"But didn’t you just decide to keep your distance from me the other day?"

"Yes." Ian truly had to admit this. He did like Thea Lynch, but Thea’s words that day indeed left him no hope.

"Then you..." Thea Lynch didn’t understand.

Ian Preston: "You didn’t push me away just now."

"..."

Thea Lynch was taken aback.

That... hug just now?

"Thea Lynch, if you really don’t like someone, with your personality, you wouldn’t hesitate like that."

"I can’t say for sure that you definitely like me, but I think, it’s not that you don’t have any feelings for me."

"I understand your concerns, and I will give an explanation for this relationship."

"One year. In this year, if I can’t show you my sincerity, I will completely let go of this thought."

——

Thea Lynch couldn’t remember how she got home.

After muddling through her wash-up, she lay down in bed, and as soon as she quieted down, Ian Preston’s words from earlier replayed in her mind over and over.

His one-year deadline wasn’t just for himself; it was for both of them.

Thea Lynch couldn’t quite describe her current feelings.

Everything happened kind of suddenly.

Ian’s gaze earlier was too resolute, as if he intended to use this year to overcome all barriers between them.

Barrier?

Thinking of this, Thea Lynch frowned.

The biggest barrier between them now, isn’t it herself?

The words of refusal were all spoken instinctively without much thought.

As for her true thoughts, even she dared not to explore them.

——

The next morning, Thea Lynch left the compound early.

There was a lot of work on Monday, and as soon as she arrived at the company, she began to attend meetings.

In the evening, Thea left the meeting room with Foreman Chandler and a few others.

"What are we going to eat in a while? Should we go to the cafeteria?"

"No, it’s Monday, the cafeteria food is just average." Foreman Chandler turned to look at Thea. "Is your family sending food over today? Or should we go out and eat together?"

They planned to return to work after eating, with overtime still ahead.

Recently, Thea hadn’t dined with them. The chat session leak incident hadn’t been resolved yet, and indeed it was time to have a good conversation with Foreman Chandler and the others.

"Okay, let’s go out and eat then."

When putting away her files, she took a moment to call the people over at Oakhaven Bay, letting them know they didn’t need to deliver food today.

——

A group of people left the company in a mighty crowd; none drove, so they casually found a small Japanese restaurant nearby.

Thea Lynch had limited appetite, hardly eating anything.

However, dining wasn’t the main purpose this time.

"Regarding the issue of the leaked chat logs, we haven’t found out who released them yet. Do you all have any suspects?" As soon as Thea spoke, the table went quiet.

Everyone present had good relations with Foreman Chandler, without outsiders present.

After exchanging glances, not fearing offending anyone, each expressed their own thoughts.

"You, Foreman Lynch? Have you found out who it was?" Someone asked after pausing.

Thea Lynch shook her head, "No. The vice-president over there hasn’t responded to me."

"However, I do have a suspect."

"Who?" Foreman Chandler asked eagerly.

"My assistant."

"..."

"Little, Little Xu?"

"Just speculation." Thea took a sip of sake, "What I mean by this is, from now on, everyone should be more cautious when speaking in group chats."

"Regarding other matters, I will provide an explanation soon."

Thea Lynch did have some evidence, though not enough to confirm it was her assistant.

At ten o’clock at night, Thea finally returned home.

Since she walked, she encountered Nina Sinclair, who had been waiting for some time at the gate of the residential area.

The latter’s eyes were red and swollen, with tears visible when she looked at Thea. The last meeting had been at a charity auction.

The interval wasn’t long, but compared to her bright and glamorous appearance then, Nina now looked thoroughly disheveled.

Thea Lynch wasn’t surprised.

Going by Sean Bell’s words from yesterday, Ian Preston should have sought out Nina and, if things went smoothly, Sean would have accompanied him.

No matter what Ian said or did, as long as Sean was present, Nina certainly wouldn’t have had a good time.

Ignoring her, Thea Lynch directly entered the house. Nina quickly followed.

The security staff nearby was already prepared, promptly holding Nina outside the door.

"Thea Lynch!"

Nina, in a rush, called out loudly to her.

Upon hearing this, Thea turned slightly. The security nodded to her, "Miss Lynch, rest assured. We won’t let her in."

"Hmm." Thea responded, not sparing Nina even a glance, and left straight away.

Once home, Thea took a bath while checking the messages in the group chat.

Regarding the Sinclair Family, it had been the talk during meals among The Coronet Circle’s wealthy second generation recently. Just a quick flip through the chat logs, the content where it stopped mostly related to Nina.

Thea Lynch quickly scanned through it.

She roughly caught up with the latest news.

Nina’s father had been suspended and was under investigation, this time truly unable to escape.

Some claimed that Sinclair Sr. had been framed in receiving bribes, having offended too many people.

However, this wasn’t easy to discern.

The truth mattered little at this moment.

As for Nina, she had seemingly been selling off properties and making pleas to countless people recently. But currently, no one in Coronet dared to help her.

After all, money alone couldn’t solve the problem at this point.

Nina was still too naive.

Judging by her look tonight, she probably didn’t gain anything good from Ian.

The next morning, on her way to work, Thea again encountered Nina.

It seemed she hadn’t gone back, waiting there all night.

Thea Lynch stopped walking, "Use your time where it matters, it’s no use seeking me."

Nina pleaded with red eyes: "As long as you soften your stance, if you plead to Ian! My father can surely be okay! Earlier it was my fault, make me pay any way you want! But my father did nothing wrong!"

Thea Lynch smiled: "Why are you so convinced that I would plead to Ian for you?"
