Huo Jinyun spoke irritably, "I’ll pay for it!"
"It’s not just about paying anymore."
Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette, took a drag, released Huo Jinyun’s arm, bent over to flick the ash into the ashtray on the coffee table, then stood up straight and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing out with an unfathomably deep look in his eyes.
He went over the recent events in his mind, including what Huo Jinyun had just said. The cigarette danced lightly between his fingers. He turned his head and his gaze fell back on Huo Jinyun.
Huo Jinyun stood there with her neck stiff, insisting, "Anan, I wasn’t joking just now."

Huo Jinnan’s beautiful and slender fingers loosened his tie a bit.
Huo Jinyun hesitated, her voice much softer, "She and her daughter are here for revenge."
"Revenge? What revenge."
Huo Jinnan asked in a low voice, his face expressionless as ever.
Huo Jinyun looked at Huo Jinnan, "Wen Ru’s parents died because of the Huo Family. There’s a bloody feud between our two families. That’s why Che Huan got close to Jizhou and, five years ago, she seized the opportunity to have your child—"
"You are from the Gu Family, I am from the Huo Family."
Huo Jinnan interrupted Huo Jinyun, his gaze colder than before.
Her grandparents died because of the Huo Family?
A slight furrow formed between his brows as he looked at Huo Jinyun.
Huo Jinyun moderated her tone, "Anan, do you understand now? Their mother and daughter getting close to you is simply—"
"Enough," said Huo Jinnan, not wanting to hear any more from Huo Jinyun. He turned to the security guard, "Take her to the security department and wait for the police to deal with this."
"Anan!"
Huo Jinyun’s voice rose a few notches but she couldn’t free herself from the grasp of the security guard moving to apprehend her, "Anan, you’ll regret not believing me! They’re just here to provoke the members of the Huo Family—"
"I’ll say it one more time, Gu Jizhou bears the Gu surname."
Huo Jinnan glanced at Huo Jinyun being led away. Standing there, he made a call to Huo Bei, "When you have time, check out the Wen Family from back then, especially regarding the cause of death of the Wen elders."
After the call, he went to Wen Ru’s new room. Approaching her bedside, he sat down, "Auntie Wen, I hope you weren’t frightened just now?"
Wen Ru replied calmly, "This is nothing to me."
Huo Jinnan turned around to Che Huan, "Huanhuan, I left my phone I use for public downstairs. Could you go get it for me?"
Guessing he wanted to say something to her mom that he didn’t want her to hear, was it about those things Huo Jinyun had just spewed out at them?
Being the illegitimate daughter or whatever she had been called, she didn’t care about that anymore.
The most important thing was that she was living well now.
With this thought in mind, she, Che Huan, nodded and stood up to leave the new room.
Watching Che Huan exit the room, Huo Jinnan added another cigarette to his hand, waited for a moment, and then walked over to close the door. "Auntie Wen, did you know Huo Jinyun from before?"
"Sort of," Wen Ru replied without a smile, struggling to utter just two words.
Huo Jinnan was silent for a while but finally asked, "Qin Moting is Huanhuan’s father, right?"
Wen Ru wanted to say no but ultimately remained silent.
Huo Jinnan understood, "I got it, I will take good care of Huanhuan."
Hearing this, Wen Ru’s face showed emotion. Clearly, the last thing Huo Jinyun had said was meant to mislead.
