Chapter 508: Preparing for Ascension (2-Last)
After messing around a little with his Dream Pill and acting as if he wished to shove it down Khal’s throat, who as a result ran away like a scared rabbit, Cal laughed and without hesitation threw the pill into his mouth.
’He should stop believing everything they tell him.’ Cal mumbled as he felt how a cold sensation swept through his body before it vanished without any sign that it appeared at all.
[That was not a Dream Pill, was it?]
’Huh? What? Of course not. I mean, while there is really such a pill, why should I create one? It is not like I can go up to my enemy and say, ’hey! Here is a pill which will put you in a deep slumber where you will be tortured through your worst nightmare for one whole year!’, right?’
’Also, if I want to torture someone, believe me, I have better ways to do it.’
[If you say so. Then what was that pill? It definitely was not an Essence Pill nor a Soul Enhancing Pill as they have a completely different look.]
’You are right. The pill was neither of those two but an Essence Core Purifier Pill. It purifies my Essence Core while also increasing its size by 50% which means I will be able to recover my Essence without consuming any Beast Essence 150% faster!
’It was a receipt that Hale gave me two days ago.’ Cal explained with a proud look on his face.
[I...I see.]
Nova was speechless, to say the least, but as he had seen Cal doing and achieving way crazier feats she only needed a few seconds to recover from her shock.
[Anyways, when will you ascend to the Sixth Realm? You have already formed your True Domain and also increased your Body Essence to heights that not even all the Lords together could rival. Don’t you think it should be time already?]
Throwing numerous ingredients into the cauldron to concoct another pill, Cal pondered silently before replying, "Yeah, I should. We will ascend tomorrow."
Cal continued to concoct pills one after another and eat them as if they were candy and in a blink, a day passed.
"Huh? We are ascending to the Sixth Realm?" Khal hearing the news from Cal showed surprise but quickly smiled and yelled, "SOFIEL!!"
Whoosh!
With a gentle breeze, Sofiel appeared beside Khal like a ghost and quickly knelt down in front of him.
"Did you call me, Master?" Sofiel asked with a slightly lowered head, her voice holding nothing but respect.
Ever since her soul was freed from the curse, Sofiel swore her absolute loyalty to Khal, becoming his right hand as a way to show her gratitude. Of course, she was completely oblivious that Khal was not the one who gave her the second pill, but the one standing right behind her.
Khal looked at Sofiel with a calm gaze and a hint of sorrow before saying, "Sofiel, from this moment on, you are officially the Sect Master of the Heavenly Star Sect."
And to prove he was not bluffing, Khal took out a small colorful token that had the shape of a star and handed it over to Sofiel.
"W-What?" Sofiel was stupefied but it didn’t take her more than 2 seconds to realize what was going on.
"Master, please. If you can just wait a few more months, I can ascend together with you!" Sofiel stated without any sign of accepting the token which was the symbol of one being the Sect Master of the Heavenly Star Sect.
Khal, however, shook his head without explaining a thing. He already decided on this matter so he won’t change his mind no matter what.
"I see..." Sofiel sighed bitterly before her eyes turned resolute and accepted th token, "Then I shall form my True Domain faster. I promise once I reach the Sixth Realm, I will find you."
"I will wait for that day to come." Khal nodded his head and after glancing at Cal he vanished into thin air.
"So is this the God Pillar?" standing at the bottom of a massive pillar after walking through the Divine God Bridge, Khal raised his head to see the top but naturally failed to do so.
Cal nodded and after examining the pillar he extended his hand and touched the pillar.
Whoosh!
[You have challenged God Pillar! You have 1 day to reach the 100th floor!]
"Huh? That’s it? We just have to ascend and reach the 100th floor using the staircase over there?" Khal asked a little puzzled as he pointed at the staircase in the distance which spiraled toward the sky.
"Never underestimate anything or you will find yourself in a tight situation real fast." Cal pointed out with a nonchalant expression and started to ascend the step one by one.
"If you sa so." Khal shrugged and quickly followed after Car, feeling no changes at all after placing his feet on the first step.
The two began to ascend in silence and at the start, nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary, however, after the 1000th step which was equivalent to one floor, Khal and Cal noticed how the air around them became scarcely heavier than before.
’So that’s how it is.’ Cal narrowed his eyes as he figured out what this trial was all about and without hesitation began to quicken his pace, forcing Khal who followed a few meters behind him to do the same.
The two ascended the floors one by one, however, once they reached the 25th floor, meaning they have climbed more than 25,000 staircases, suddenly they were forced to halt their steps.
"It seems we have some company," Cal said calmly as he watched how thousands of humanoid beasts with wings, armors on their bodies, and weapons in their hands descended from the higher floors with obvious intent to kill!
"We also have to fight? Oh, come on!" Khal sighed almost as if he wished to die but still summoned a black sword into his hand which he acquired from a Realm Dungeon and started to kill the beasts one by one.
