Chapter 506: Hunting
Hale gave Cal a sideways glance upon hearing the question before starting to explain, "That cultivator I have killed was an Exile."
"An Exile?" Cal raised a brow in puzzlement.
"Yes." Hale nodded his head, "You don’t know this but every Realm has its own rules. Whoever breaks them will be exiled from their Realms and will be brought to the Zero Realm where they will have to live their lives until the very day they die."
"That... Isn’t that a little bit too harsh?" Cal inquired with a slight frown, "Like, how should they avoid breaking the rules if they don’t even know the rules?"
"When I’m talking about rules, I don’t talk about things like it is prohibited to steal treasures from another or killing, but things like forcefully descending into a Lower Realm and causing chaos or even permanent destruction!" Hale explained.
"For instance, when you traveled through the Zero Realm during our first encounter, that already was equivalent to violation and breaking the rules, hence if I would have wished to, I could have easily chosen to kill you right then and there."
"But you didn’t choose to do so, because...?"
"Because I knew your real purpose and also because of that on your wrist," Hale said as he pointed at the bracelet on Cal’s hand.
Cal glanced at the bracelet on his wrist and didn’t really know what he should say. It seems, until this very moment without his knowledge, Hale was watching everything he has done, and if he would have done anything suspicious he definitely would have been dead by now!
[Luckily, you were able to get on his good side in a short amount of time, or else things would have gone real bad rather quickly for you and your little friend.]
Cal nodded scarcely with a calm face, but in his chest, his heart was beating a little faster for a few seconds before it gradually began to calm down.
The two of them continued traversing through the Zero Realm, exploring everything inside the hidden world and helping Cal to familiarize himself with the things existing within.
"Hm? Are they also..."
Following Cal’s gaze when he heard his voice, Hale looked into the distance where a group of beings was working together to hunt down a large beast with an appearance of an elephant but the size of a ship!
The beast’s obsidian black skin was even covered in a thick layer of fur that shone like steel, protecting its body from the cultivators’ attacks without seemingly any problem!
"They are Exiles. Just like in any of the other six Realm, within the Zero Realm cultivators form smaller and larger groups in order to live and survive. In fact, you would be surprised to see how some even were able to form their own sect and rise t the top!" Hale explained with a slight chuckle.
"Is that so?" Cal mumbled and after giving one final glance at the cultivators below his feet, who failed to notice him and Hale because they were surpassing their presence, he followed after Hale.
Massive mountains covered either thick layers of snow, rocks, grass, or flowing lava, floating islands above a seemingly bottomless abyss, and vast and almost endless clearings filled with either nothing or massive and large rock pillars.
The Zero Realm was filled with all kinds of breathtaking scenery that not only was mesmerizing but was also filled with large amounts of dangers where one could easily lose their life if they are not careful enough.
For instance, while exploring this large valley which was filled with nothing but ruins that were probably the remnants of a sect from the past, Cal crossed paths with a large snake that was five if not six times larger than that World Devourer he has once killed in the past.
Hell, the beast even had the presence of a peak Fifth Realm Cultivator and Cal was pretty much sure that except for him, Hale, and the six Lords, there were barely any cultivators who were strong enough to fight it!
[Too bad. If you could kill that thing I bet the amount of Body Essence you could collect and consume would be astronomical!]
’Huh?’ Cal raised a brow and quickly decided to ask Hale if he were allowed to hunt within the Zero Realm.
"While I do not advise you to kill a large number of beasts from this Realm as that could lead to some species to extinction, you are free to do whatever you want until you won’t cause a mess."
"Wait, what? Really?" Cal asked with surprise, believing he will get a ’no’ as an answer.
"Really" Hale nodded, making Cal’s eyes immediately lit up which soon was followed by him activating his Mechanical Saber.
BOOOOOOM!
’...’
Hale became utterly speechless after witnessing how Cal literally sliced the large snake into fist-sized pieces before consuming its Beast Essence with a blissed expression almost as if he was just eating a delicious steak or something similar to that.
’Holy shit! That thing alone had increased my Body Essence by a whole amount of 500,000 units!! This is unbelievable!’ Cal thought to himself and was almost on the verge of screaming toward the sky from pure excitement and joy.
[Yeah, but next time try to hold back a little bit.]
’Huh? Why?’ Cal was puzzled, but once he raised his gaze and looked around, he was surprised to see how the two mountains around him were sliced into several parts!
It seemed, because of his sudden surge of excitement, he didn’t hold himself back at all and happened to slice even the mountains into pieces together with the beast!
"Oh..." Cal gasped with shock before he coughed rather awkwardly a few times and turned to look at Hale, only to see him hold and massage his forehead as if he had a headache.
[I would not be surprised if he is currently reconsidering whether to give your ring to someone else or not.]
’Shut up already.’ Cal said calmly and without saying anything else flew away, followed by Hale shortly after a somewhat heavy sigh.
