Chapter 212: Black Dawns Voided In Blue

[FROLO]

...Take the baby to Katya and say that he adopted the baby.

Then they would be happy, and his beautiful Katya would stop crying. He’d stop blaming himself for something that biology had decided he couldn’t have.

Yaroslav had even considered adoption, but Katya wanted their child. A fruit of both their genes. That was why he chose Milan.

The doctors had said Katya’s uterus was weak, that his eggs were weaker. And Yaro, he didn’t want to hurt Katya even more.

So he’d acted on his plan.

And the first time Katya knew he was cheating, Yaroslav had beaten himself up one too many times.

He loved Katya. He would never willingly cheat on Katya. But he couldn’t tell his plan to Katya. Because telling him the truth would just cement in the omega’s head what society was already drilling into him.

That he wasn’t enough.

Yet that wasn’t what Yaroslav wanted for his husband. He loved Katya with everything he had and didn’t have.

He lived his life for Katya. He cherished the omega.

Perhaps that was why a part of him hoped that things would be easy.

But Milan...

"I know you’re here because Kathy can’t give you a child. If I’m to carry your child, you have to let Kathy go. I won’t be a mistress, Yaro. I love you. I want you for me. I can give you what Kathy can’t give you," Milan had said.

Yaroslav knew he had to make a choice at the time.

It was just the third year of his marriage to Katya. He couldn’t hurt the omega like that. But society was tearing his husband apart daily. And Yaroslav couldn’t take it anymore.

So he agreed.

Because it was the only way to protect Katya.

The only way to save his husband from the trolls.

Granted, Yaroslav knew he could go to his father about the trolls and get them sorted. But that would just make Katya hate him.

Because Katya Romanov was the light in their dark family.

He was the reminder that life was worth living. He was the reminder that sometimes forgiveness was all that a broken soul needed.

And Sergei Moskowsky didn’t exactly look like the face of forgiveness. Yaro knew his father would flatten households for him, if he went to complain and ask for his help. So he chose to trust fate and the deities.

Only that Milan wasn’t an easy target.

For years, the affair went on.

It was physical for Yaroslav because he needed that baby.

But it was emotional for Milan. And the woman had refused to give in one too many times. So Yaro had stopped acting like he only wanted a baby with her.

So he lured her into a false sense of safety.

It worked. Because two months before his fifth anniversary with Katya, Milan finally let him conceive with her. She let him nut in her without having to tell Yaro that she would take her pills.

Soon enough, Yaro smelled the new life inside Milan.

His plan was finally working.

He just had to stay for four more months with Milan so the baby would grow to a stage where it would be risky to abort it.

Yaro knew it was an evil plan. But it was way better a plan than having to watch his Katya cry daily for the one thing all the doctors had told them they could never have.

He just wanted his omega to be happy.

He just wanted to see Katya smile again.

He just wanted to hear his husband’s laughter again.

Oh, how he missed him.

The plan was supposed to be easy. But shit got complicated along the way. Because Katya caught them on their anniversary and walked out.

Yaro knew he had to do something to sell the performance.

So he was mean.

"Because you, my sweet, precious, delicate Katya. You never give me what I need. Never make me feel excited or happy. You make me feel small and empty, my beautiful omega.

"If you were any good, I wouldn’t have gone after Milan on our wedding night," Yaroslav had lied to the love of his life, the bane of his existence, the man whom he would give up his life for.

"What?" Yaroslav remembered the confusion on Katya’s face, yet he never stopped, even then.

"It gets tiring for me, too, Katya. Having to listen to people ask me when I will get an heir. I know my seed is fertile and catches, because it did with Milan more than once. So, the problem, here... is you."

"You’re so beautiful, and useless at the same time. It is even a wonder we made it this far," Yaroslav had spat with so much spite.

Oh, but he was very mean.

He knew he would beg him for mercy later.

He would grovel his entire life if he had to. Because this baby Milan was carrying was the only way to shut society up, so his Katya could not deal with them anymore.

That’s why he let Katya go that afternoon.

When he learned the next day that his husband was in the hospital, Yaroslav had been worried, genuinely worried. But then he had a baby with an unstable woman who could take away the happiness he and Katya had coming their way.

Instead of being the husband Katya knew...

Yaroslav became the monster Katya had never seen.

[FLASHBACK, Two years ago, Aslava Hospital, private wing]

The walk inside Aslava Hospital had been the heaviest for Yaroslav. He knew people were watching him. People who could go and tell Milana that Yaro was being all cozy with husband again. And that was something that he couldn’t risk.

"Well, well, well. Look who got himself a private room," Yaroslav greeted cruelly, snapping his sleeping omega awake. His heart ached for the love of his life lying there, tubed up like he was about to die.

He wanted to read the charts, gods, he wanted to. But he couldn’t. Not without adding on to his guilt for what he was about to do. Maybe Katya would never forgive him for this day, but he had to make sure they had a baby with Milan.

That was their only hope.

Their marriage’s only hope if he was to get Katya’s smile back.
