[FROLO]

Of all the things Alek had been expecting when he was called to Moskowsky, the sight before him was certainly not it. It was even impossible to tell if this was a simulation or something that was meant to trap him.

But judging by the pissed woman with a dripping tray, maybe this was real after all.

"We didn’t carry umbrellas," Sergei said as he wiped the water off himself.

"I smell Alek," Katya said excitedly and Sergei turned to the senator who was watching the mess like this was beyond what he could even spell out.

"Senatooorrrrr you camee," Sergei said like he had just seen their savior.

"I told youuu... He’s not the senator after work... He’s my boyfrienddd... Alek... Juuust Alek," Katya corrected as he smacked Sergei on the shoulder weakly.

"Juust Alek, helooo," Sergei greeted, and the senator turned to Anya, who was one breath away from shooting the toe with the guard’s stun gun.

"What happened?" Alek asked curiously.

"They got plastered and turned the executive floor into whatever the fuck this is," Anya said tiredly.

"Which of the idiots called you?" Anya added.

"Mr. Moskowsky, but it was a whole mess trying to hear what they were both saying."

"Both?" Anya asked, surprised.

"Yeah... Here," Alek said, handing over the call recording to Anya. Almost like he knew he would have to explain why he was here and on the executive floor of Moskowsky at nine o’clock.

"I’ll play the recording, please, thank you," an excited Volkov said before he pressed the play button, his phone recording the madness, never stopping even for a moment.

"This is going to be fun," Volkov said as they all paid attention.

Meanwhile ahead of them were two drunks bickering about the size of the umbrella they needed to protect themselves from the rain again.

"Mr. Moskowsky?" Aleksandr’s voice came through; the unexpected calls something that surprised him. It was obvious in his voice.

"He will arrest us... He’s a government officiall," Sergei whispered.

"He won’t... He’s my sweet boyfrienddd. Just Alek," Katya defended in a hushed tone.

"Wait, what do we say?"

"Uhhh... We’re running late... So, he shouldn’t be worried about us."

"Little rose? Are you alright?" Alek asks when he heard Katya’s voice on the other end.

"Babyyyy..."

"Where are you?"

"With... Vladimir said to confirm life..."

"That’s wwong Solnyshka... We... We are asking permission to come home late," Sergei giggled.

The big bad wolf of Frolo giggled, and a sitting senator heard it.

"He won’t believe us," Katya whispered.

"Little rose? Mr. Moskowsky?" Alek called out, but none of them was paying attention.

"Anya said not to walk into traffic... And we’re at the office, so he should believe us..."

"We’re stupid drunk... If he comes, he’s going to... Hic—"

"What is the time?"

"Uhh, it’s still eight o’clock."

"Okayyy... if we don’t slurr our words... He won’t know," Sergei chuckled like he’d gotten the brightest of ideas.

"The guard is coming again... Cover the phone and hideee..."

"He took our glasses away... he probably thinks we’re fighting," Katya snickered.

"He’s too competent... I should raise his wage."

"Look here, the window is moving Vladimirr..."

"Should we call the guard to keep it steady?"

"He’ll say we’re drunk and tell us to go to bed..."

"But the building is swaying too... the guard can fix it before we fall..."

"I’ll call him... Andre taught me how to be sober."

"Okay, here, cover your head with this bowl so he doesn’t see us."

"We’ll be invisible like ghosts... That’s the bestest idea."

"Hold on... Take some mud from the dead basil, he should not bother us then..."

"What if we scare him?"

"That won’t work..."

"Why noottt?"

"He’s a Moskowsky guard, Solnyshka... Ghosts won’t scare him."

"Righttt... this is your fault for hiring competent people..."

The conversation went on and on and on until they reached a familiar point.

"Do you think basils like sunlight?" Sergei snorted over the phone, and Anya paused the recording.

She looked at the duo still bickering over the most useless of things. Then at Alek.

"I’m sorry you had to get out when you’re already hurting," Anya apologized in earnest, like a mother who was trying to explain her two boys and wondering what the fuck she needed to do with them.

"This is quite surprising, I have to admit," Alek said, before he let out a light laugh. Making the brewing tension lower by little.

The alpha stared at his omega and the most feared man in Frolo. And suddenly, all the worries he had been having earlier felt so far-fetched.

Granted, he was still suspicious about sober Sergei.

But this drunk man was an idiot.

And his little rose was another right now.

Sergei was drunk off his ass, as was Katya, and they were not even doing anything romantic. This wasn’t even considered cheating. This was just chaos. Pure chaos wrapped up in the most unexpected of friendships.

The universe really was a piece of work for this.

"At least they remembered to call the trusted adults this time," Anya sighed as she walked over to the duo, like it was time for bed, and she would have to drag them apart.

"It’s time for bed, young master," Anya said to the dumb and dumber pair.

Alek looked at her, addressing Sergei so casually. But then again, he had to admit that over the years, Sergei always had Anya by his side on most occasions. So, this shouldn’t have been as surprising, right?

"But the rain is coming, and we don’t have umbrellas!!" Katya said, making Anya sigh for what felt like the hundredth time.

"We brought umbrellas for you," Anya groaned.

Meanwhile, Alek turned to Volkov curiously.

"What does she mean by trusted adults?" Alek asked.

"The last time they got drunk together, we had to pull them both from an abandoned amusement park. And they only called Anya because, apparently, they thought they were lost, and they didn’t want to bother you.

"If it’s any comfort, the Moskowsky security detail was ten feet away from them," Volkov explained, like it was the simplest of things.

"Oh, and Romanov didn’t lie to you. They both don’t remember shit from that day. Would be a miracle if they remembered tonight," Volkov snickered, and Alek stared at the phone in the secretary’s hands.

"That’s why you’re recording?" the alpha asked as Naya walked back with her dumb and dumber. The security guard was helping her with Katya.

"Yup. It’s not daily that we see the boss this dumb," Volkov laughed.

"I believe this one’s yours, senator," Anya said as she pointed to Katya.

"I think we’re in trouble, Solnyshka," Sergei snorted.

"We’re gonna get grounded for life," Katya added.

"Don’t give them ideas," Sergei whispered tiredly.

"I think we’ll only be allowed to hang out with each other on my wedding day with Alek," Katya whispered amid laughter, and Sergei snorted hard at that.

"See you soon, my friendddd... we should sneak out and drink that unopened bottle."

"Text me when you get home," Katya snickered as Anya dragged Sergei away.

"Oh heyy, mister... You look like my boyfriend... he’s a senator, a gooood maan," Katya chuckled proudly, and Alek couldn’t help but smile at how wasted his omega was.

"Let’s go home, little rose," Alek said softly.

"My boyfriend’s handsome," Katya laughed before he passed out on the guard’s shoulder.

"I think that’s our cue to get out of here," the guard said in relief as they headed out.
