Chapter 152: It’s Up To You, And It’s Up To Me
[FROLO]
Aleksandr couldn’t show his excitement at the possibility of an actual future with Katya.
The divorce meant that if Alek wanted to have a future with Katya, there would be nothing that stood between them.
He wouldn’t have to deal with the Moskowskys at all.
And that was more than progress, really.
Because as much as the senator was a politician with a good influence and power, he didn’t want his power to be used to drag his beloved into the daily tabloids.
He had seen that shit with the Erika Moskowsky birth, and Alek had sworn to himself that he would not put Katya through shit like that.
Ever.
Katya deserved a peaceful life. If there was anything that hit the tabloids in that possible explosive manner, Alek wanted Katya to be in control of it all.
"In case of anything, just let me know, my little rose. If you need my help, yeah?" Alek offered, and Katya found himself leaning across the table to kiss the alpha’s cheek.
What the fuck had gotten into him?
Well, he didn’t even have time to think because one of the security guards rushed into the house panting like he had seen someone from hell.
Katya froze for a moment.
Because his first instinct was that Sergei had come for him.
He couldn’t even explain that line of thought, but it made more sense because only Sergei could be crazy enough to have a senator’s security guard that shaken.
’Please don’t let it be that barbarian,’ Katya prayed silently, hoping that someone, anyone, out there was listening to him.
He didn’t know if he would be able to deal with any Moskowsky shit today. Especially given the darn dream that still haunted him even at the moment.
Oh, but it was a tough spot he had found himself in.
But who was counting, no?
"Simon? What is the meaning of this?" The senator asked protectively as he stood up and shielded Katya, as if he didn’t want anyone to see his Katya.
It was understandable, though.
Katya was a pretty omega.
Alek was his alpha.
Katya was his boyfriend, and Alek was not going to let anyone else see his omega like that.
It was hard enough for Alek to stay a gentleman, and when Katya was almost naked with him there, but then he was a gentleman and had proven it more than once.
"Sir... A head... In a box at the gate... a courier brought it... And... oh, gods," Simon said before he rushed out suddenly to puke his guts out.
Katya and the senator shared a confused look.
But deep down, Katya could already suspect that this was the kind of shit some darn dream Sergei could do.
Oh, but he wanted to pretend that this was related to the senator and not to him. He really wanted to. But Aleksandr was a beloved senator.
People actually cared for the senator.
But maybe...
Katya could chance on the possibility that this was related to the senator, right?
For his peace of mind?
Because honestly, the way that Sergei had fisted his hand that day he left the office, Katya knew there had to be something related to the contract marriage he had signed with the barbarian.
Oh, he was doomed.
And he didn’t even have his friends to yap to because Svet and Andre had been a bit busy with work lately.
"Alpha, let’s go," Katya said so naturally, and Alek stilled.
Katya never called him that.
And honestly, it made him feel a lot of things. But being the gentleman, Alek just took his Trench coat and made Katya wear it gently, a smile on his face.
The omega just smiled at the alpha’s possessiveness.
Alek didn’t even have to say a word for Katya to understand him, and maybe that was why their relationship worked.
"Now, we can go check it out," Alek said as he kissed Katya’s hair softly.
Then he held the chairman’s hand and stepped out of the house toward the gate where the house staff had gathered to see the supposed head.
"I don’t want you to be scared, little rose," Alek said before they got there.
"I have you, if I’m scared. You’re my alpha now," Katya said, and he watched as a blush crept up the alpha’s cheek for a moment.
Katya should have been glad that at least one of them was normal.
Instead, like a haunting ghost in his head, his subconscious leaned into something else completely.
’Sergei mowed your name on his lawn because you called him Vladimir.’
Shaking his head, Katya refuses to lean into that.
Not now.
Not when he was trying to live his life and be free of the Moskowskys.
He would prove that he has a life of his own.
Even if he had to prove it to his darn subconscious.
"Alpha..." Katya whined suddenly, making the senator turn to him.
"Little rose..."
"My alpha," Katya fucking giggled instead, wrapping his hand on the senator’s arm like he was not triggering every sanity the poor alpha had.
Or maybe Katya knew what he was doing.
Maybe he just wanted his subconscious to shut up.
"I’ll call you my alpha from now on," Katya added sheepishly, not missing the way that the senator stiffened for a moment.
It was like everything was forgotten because this time, Alek turned his focus on Katya completely.
"Say that again," he growled possessively, and Katya could swear his legs buckled at how hot Alek sounded.
He knew he was being bratty and insane, but then he had a life to live and freedom to explore.
If he knew calling the senator his alpha would get the man growling like that, Katya would have long made it a very healthy habit.
"My alpha," Katya whispered.
"Your alpha," Alek breathed like he was trying to gauge if this was just a dream or not.
But was it a dream when even Simon was standing on the sidelines, glaring at the couple like this was not the time to get all romantic and shit.
Especially seeing as they had a head to go check out.
"Mine," Katya said in earnest, the sincerity rolling off his lips a surprise to him, and seemingly the one thing that shut his subconscious up.
