Chapter 151: We’re Just You And Me Within These Walls
[FROLO]
"I... I’m sorry," Katya whined, his omega not liking the fact that the alpha was pulling away.
Katya was determined to be rational. Really.
But what was rationality when there was a hot alpha here in the same room with him, who looked like he really wanted Katya and was only going to touch Katya if the one eager let him, yet the omega couldn’t shake the ghost from his dream?
Would it silence Katya’s thoughts if Sergei and the damn dream that absolutely was never supposed to happen again were silenced in a different way?
Which one, though?
Maybe if he spent his heat with Alek. If he let Alek knot him, he would never think of Sergei again, right?
But even if that felt wrong.
Katya didn’t want to use the senator like that even though the man was looking at him with eyes that begged Katya to use him.
It was tempting, really, because honestly, Katya’s unrealistic sex life had been the one reason he was stuck in this damned heat cycle with his suppressants failing.
What the fuck was he supposed to do when he knew that once he crossed that line with the senator, there was no going back?
At the same time, would it really matter when they both want this?
"No, don’t be. I know this isn’t easy for you... How about I stay here on the side and wait your heat out with you?" Alek offered, like the gentleman he was.
Katya stared at him desperately.
He was wet.
His arousal was thick in the room, and he was slowly coming around.
The alpha was holding back a lot.
And honestly, it wasn’t easy for him.
Katya knew that too.
Yet even then, it still felt wrong.
"Yeah... Thanks for understanding," Katya mumbled as he rested his head on the pillow and stared at the alpha, who was still staring at him with love in his eyes.
The senator was a patient man.
A man who understood that Katya needed time.
Maybe because Katya had made him wait seven months before an actual coffee date and a few more weeks for their first kiss.
Senator Aleksandr was learning the art of patience, and honestly, Katya didn’t know what to do with that.
And that was how they spent the four remaining days of Katya’s intense heat.
The alpha was there, lying beside him in the bed. Holding him at times, staying on the side when it all got too much for them both, and they didn’t want to cross a line.
It took a lot of self-control on the senator’s end, given how Katya smelled so good and kept calling his name each time his heat struck hard.
It was a crazy sight, yet even then, the alpha never touched Katya.
He nursed him through the heat.
Fed him.
Cleaned him.
Gave him pain relievers.
And when the reliever didn’t work.
He let Katya scent him.
And sometimes Katya let the alpha scent him too.
It was a long four days for the senator, but he had been patient through it all.
When the heat ended, Katya woke up early on the fifth day to prepare breakfast for the man he had refused to share breakfast with through and through.
Katya believed he was moving on.
But deep down, he knew he needed to start teaching his mind not to expect shit from Sergei. And erasing the breakfast expectations with Sergei was the first step of it all.
That way, Katya would live his life.
Strangely enough, the breakfast that Katya prepared for himself and the senator...
Was the same one Sergei had prepared for him in his darn dream.
Katya only realized that when he set the table, and the senator sat in front of him.
Gods, he was screwed.
"Thank you for being patient with me," Katya spoke before the senator could say a word. The alpha was all dressed and ready to go to work, and Katya...
He was in casual wear.
More like the alpha’s oversized shirt and the alpha’s boxer.
He could see the way that the alpha was eyeing him. Like he wanted him so badly, but was holding back.
And Katya knew it would just be a matter of time before Alek’s control snapped.
But maybe by then, Katya would have made sure he fixed his life enough to move on from the Moskowskys. Sergei did say that he was a free man months ago anyway.
"It was a pleasure, little rose. I’m just happy you chose me to spend your heat with," Alek said, like it was the best of things.
Like he hadn’t suffered the most during the heat.
But maybe that was okay.
Maybe that was what caring partners did, yeah?
After all, they were still in a new relationship, or so that was what the alpha told himself when things got a little complicated.
"I... I’m going to file for a divorce from Yaro," Katya said carefully, and the alpha’s spoon dropped back into the soup with a light thud, making it spill lightly on his clothes.
Katya didn’t waste time, though.
He grabbed the tissues that were close and wiped the alpha clean for his side of the table.
"D... Divorce? As in annulment of marriage?" Alek asked careful of his words like he didn’t want to offend the omega.
Katya nodded, a hearty smile on his face as he looked at the alpha.
For a moment, he stared at him, stunned and at a loss for words.
Katya could already imagine what was going through the senator’s head. That they had been together for some time now, and Katya was going to file for a divorce.
Maybe it was too soon, but Katya wasn’t doing this for their relationship.
He was going to do this for himself.
Maybe because it was the ultimate test of his freedom from the Moskowskys and what Sergei had been preaching to him for months.
Maybe because this was the only time he could step out and try to figure out what part of life he was getting himself into, because honestly, it was really something else altogether.
Maybe he was insane for that.
For trying to test the Moskowsky limits.
But what the fuck was Katya to do?
Stay in a loveless marriage while Yaro lived his life with Milan and their baby?
Hold onto something that even he didn’t know how it would end, other than the fact that Yaro didn’t give a shit about him or even what he did anymore?
"I wanted you to be the first to hear it. From me. Before the media caught on. It won’t be easy, given Yaro’s constant declarations about how Moskowskys don’t divorce and all.
"But I need to live my life. And I can’t do that without freeing myself from that narcissist," Katya said, and the alpha just nodded.
He was too shocked to say a word.
Maybe because he was being careful.
He couldn’t show his excitement at the possibility of an actual future with Katya.
The divorce meant that if Alek wanted to have a future with Katya, there would be nothing that stood between them.
He wouldn’t have to deal with the Moskowskys at all.
And that was more than progress, really.
"In case of anything, just let me know, my little rose. If you need my help, yeah?"
