Chapter 144: Losing My Mind Over You, Save Me

[FROLO]

Sergei stood stiff, his hand fisted as he tried to understand what was right before him.

His omega.

In the senator’s arms.

His omega.

Being called a little rose.

His omega.

Leaning to the senator for support while whining lowly as their eyes stayed glued together.

Sergei couldn’t let himself think. He couldn’t even say a word. Because what was he supposed to say to the senator?

That Alek needed to let Katya go?

Why, though?

Would he have. A proper explanation for his sentiments?

Oh, but Sergei felt like this was his doom. That this was the cost of the distance he had given.

Yet Katya had called him.

Not once.

Twice.

Things like that just never happened out of the blue.

Katya had sought him out, and now the omega was in another alpha’s arms. An alpha who society considered good for the omega.

"Morning, Mr. Moskowsky," Senator Aleksandr greeted, and Sergei had to remind himself that he was Katya’s boss and father-in-law, not the man who was about to chop Alek into pieces for even holding his omega’s finger.

"Morning senator. Is the chairman alright?" Sergei asked calmly, his composure so that he had long mastered it.

And clearly it seemed to work because the senator was looking at him like any normal person would. Without any judgement for this situation. It was just professionalism. Or maybe courtesy?

Sergei didn’t care for that. Not at the moment anyway.

But he couldn’t exactly out his desires to the senator who wouldn’t give two shits about him, right?

"Ah yeah... Just his heat came early. Please excuse us," Senator Aleksandr said.

Sergei just nodded stiffly.

He watched as Alek held Katya and walked them both to the private elevator. He watched as the man steadied Katya inside there while Katya’s eyes met his in the kind of way that had Sergei wondering why the fuck the omega called.

"Senator..." Sergei spoke, making Katya stiffen beside the senator.

Sergei was coming back to the elevator.

And Katya looked at the man as if to tell him that this wasn’t the time to pull the contract husband card.

Of course, Katya one what he had signed up for and never forgot it, even with all the freedom he had been given. After all, Sergei was still a Moskowsky after all. The OG Moskowsky.

"Mr. Moskowsky..." Senator Aleksandr said, confused.

"When he’s in the right state of mind, please tell your boyfriend he can take as much time off as he needs," Sergei said, then he walked in the direction of his office. Like he hadn’t surprised the hell out of Katya.

Boyfriend?

Sergei using that term?

Oh, but it meant a whole lot more.

Yet Sergei didn’t wait to see the effects of his words either on Katya or the senator. He just turned the corner.

And when the elevator kept humming, Sergei let out a breath and realized he was holding before punching a hole through the wall of the nearest office.

He was pissed.

He had just watched his omega leave.

He watched the man he adored be taken away, and while in heat too.

The entire executive floor may have had no employees this morning, but it reeked of citrus.

Desperate citrus.

Aroused citrus.

Sergei was losing his mind.

His omega had left with another alpha, and he didn’t even have the right words to keep him from leaving. What kind of a man did that make him? What kind of person was he supposed to be with all of that?

Fuck, Sergei was pissed.

So, he did the only thing he could do.

He trashed the entire executive floor.

He punched holes into more walls, broke doors, and windows like he had finally lost his mind. He broke tables and desks; glass adores that pissed the hell out of him.

And as if that wasn’t good enough, Sergei grabbed the bat for his office and made sure to ruin anything he set his eyes on.

He was fuming.

Irrational.

Ruining things.

Destroying offices, computers, and all that could be deemed important to the company.

Sergei was angry.

Oh, he was furious and jealous.

Katya didn’t choose him.

Katya didn’t go home with him.

Katya didn’t even look at him as if he wanted to leave with him.

Katya didn’t even try to tell the senator that he had called Sergei, too.

He just walked away with the senator.

He just left like Sergei was with nothing, and gods I’d that didn’t make Sergei feral. The executive floor was soon filled with growls of an angry alpha who wants to rip down the mentor building. The barbarian even shifted into his world, but it didn’t make him feel any better.

Because now he could smell everything.

Literally.

Like a pleasant scent.

Like Katya’s citrus slick.

Sergei has lost his will to even stay sane for the morning.

Yet in all of that damage, Katya Romanov’s office was the only block of concrete standing strong on the executive floor.

Rahim’s desk was gone. Reduced to shambles. Spikes were all over the floor, and the air conditioning wasn’t making any sense.

Sergei glared at the mahogany door that separated Katya’s office from the rest, and he hated that shit. And he was going to bring it down...

When he caught a whiff of his scent coming from beyond the room.

His scent.

Not Aleksandr’s.

Sergei’s rainforest scent.

And that had the raging alpha pause for a moment.

Maybe it was all in his head, but Sergei was an alpha wolf who was literally in his wolf form right now. His nose was at its peak.

And for a moment, Sergei considered throwing his fly at the door and breaking it all down just to let his elf in. But then he had to remind himself that he had been the one to give Katya freedom.

He had told the omega that he could be free.

The omega had only followed it.

So why the fuck was Sergei’s scent coming from inside Katya’s office?

And why was it blended with Katya’s?

Gods, it was the only thing that had Sergei shifting back into his human form. His clothes were badly torn, and he just didn’t care enough, given the way he pressed a button on himself in the hallways and pulled a shirt and shorts.

He couldn’t give a shit if Katya came back and saw him looking like he had run a thousand and one marathons.

Well, Sergei had raced through their fleets of shirts before he remembered that there was a damn public elevator for his employees that led to the executive floor.

The alpha had been through hell this morning, and now he had to face the possibility that he had finally lost Katya for good, and that too to a damn senator who was too good for Sergei to even match.

That was the kind of shit that pissed Sergei off even more.

However, he turned the doorknob to Katya’s office.

He knew what he was doing wasn’t right. That this was an invasion of privacy. But Sergei wanted to argue that he was the owner of Moskowsky holdings. That everything here belonged to him.

But still, it didn’t make it any better.

He opened it either way.

Walked into a room filled with Katya’s scent.

Sergei was hungry for that citrus scent, and he breathed it in like a mad man on a mission.

Until he finally realized that his scent at the moment wasn’t only on his body but also in some place in the room, so he looked for it.

Ignoring the dead phone on Katya’s desk.

Then he found it.

Sergei saw the only other source of his scent in this office.

Katya’s backpack.

Something so mundane that Sergei had never really understood why the omega kept holding onto it, even nearly a year after the omega became chairman of the company.

Katya could literally have anyone carry shit for him, yet anytime anyone had seen him around, he was always carrying that shit.

"What he doesn’t know..." Sergei tried to come up with a sensible explanation when, in truth, he was just a jealous alpha who was horrified by the thought of losing his omega to the perfect senator.

And when he opened it...

"Is this why he called me?" Sergei growled possessively.
