Chapter 1154: Chapter 604: Extra: No More Love for Him 2
Alice Robinson’s eyes were glistening with tears. "Go!"
Back on the second floor, Alice changed her clothes.
All year long, she wore the same white blouse paired with a black pencil skirt.
The simplest office outfit, lacking a bit of feminine charm, but adding a touch of toughness.
This past year she rarely looked in the mirror, but today, she paused to look at herself.
A year seemed to have stripped away her youthful innocence and immaturity...
Now, she exuded the aura of a mature woman, with a commanding presence that made it hard to associate her with the person she was a year ago.
She stood in front of the mirror for a moment before leaving the room.
Carrying her briefcase, she went to the first floor, where the faint sound of commotion reached her ears.
It was Aunt PA scolding a maid.
Aunt PA: "I’ve told you not to put newspapers together with magazines. Miss doesn’t like reading newspapers, only magazines. Haven’t you heard my instructions?"
The young maid was being scolded, her head lowered, and a whisper escaped her lips, "I’m sorry, Aunt PA, I’m new here, I just forgot..."
Aunt PA said sternly, "If you make such a mistake again, you won’t be working at Robinson’s anymore."
"Yes."
Aunt PA angrily turned to walk towards the dining room, only to see Alice descending the stairs.
Aunt PA paused for a moment, then respectfully called out, "Miss."
The young maid also lowered her head and followed suit, "Miss."
Alice walked up to Aunt PA and softly asked, "What’s happening?"
Aunt PA shrank the newspaper in her hand instinctively, her voice stuttering, "Nothing... nothing..."
Alice noticed the newspaper in Aunt PA’s hand, slightly furrowing her brows, "Didn’t you say the post office had moved, so no one was delivering newspapers? Why are there newspapers today?"
Aunt PA became nervous, "Uh... I..."
The young maid raised her eyes in astonishment, looking at Aunt PA, showing some confusion. Newspapers indeed arrived on time every day, but Aunt PA always instructed them to put away the newspapers, not letting Alice see them. They thought Alice didn’t like newspapers, but unexpectedly, Aunt PA was acting on her own.
Alice walked up to Aunt PA, furrowing her brows deeper, "What’s going on?"
Aunt PA shook her head repeatedly.
Alice puzzled, "Then why do you put away the newspapers every day?"
Aunt PA looked at Alice, troubled.
Alice took the newspaper from Aunt PA’s hand. She accidentally glanced at it, and her gaze froze on it for a second.
"QCS" president spends the night at a New York model’s fragrant boudoir, with signs of a new romance!
Alice calmly looked away, only to see Aunt PA’s face had turned pale.
Alice said lightly, "Don’t force the maid to put away the newspapers. Sometimes I can pass the time by perusing them."
Aunt PA’s voice was hoarse, "Miss, I... I just didn’t want you to see these news stories." Ever since the behind-the-scenes president of "QCS" was revealed, his gossip in the news had been relentless, almost daily featuring stories like these.
Alice smiled, calmly saying, "Aunt PA, these newspaper stories have nothing to do with us, why should we care?"
Aunt PA looked at Alice, dazed.
Alice gently patted Aunt PA, carried her briefcase, and walked out of the villa with a smile.
Aunt PA called out, "Miss, won’t you have breakfast?"
"No need."
At 10 a.m., a black Lexus business car stopped in front of a high-end private club.
The driver stepped out first and opened the rear passenger door.
Alice stepped out, looking up at the towering building.
Andie, carrying a briefcase, stood beside Alice, speaking, "Miss Robinson, this is so upscale!"
This is New York’s most prestigious private club, even someone of Alice’s stature could not enter without a club VIP card.
Alice took the lead, "Let’s go!"
Upon entering the club, a waiter was already leading the way.
The elevator went straight to the top floor of the club, and Alice remained composed.
The elevator dinged open, and the waiter led Alice to the suite’s front.
Two hotel servants at the suite doors saw Alice, respectfully opening the heavy doors for her.
Andie was a bit nervous, tightly following behind Alice.
Suddenly, Alice’s steps halted, catching sight of him on the sofa out of the corner of her left eye.
He looked at her, his lips seemingly curled into a faint smile, with a glass of red wine by his side.
Alice turned around, meeting his unfathomable gaze.
