Chapter 1146: Chapter 599: Extra Story: The Letter She Left Him 2_2

Chester’s cold eyes narrowed into a line, "I told you, I never question any decision I’ve made. When I decided to find you, my heart could hold no one else."

Rebecca Quentin finally faced him directly, "What about Alice then?"

"Our matter should not involve her."

"You’re scared to bring her up, aren’t you?"

Chester turned his back, his cold aura bursting forth, "I know I owe her, but I am clear about my feelings for her."

"No, you aren’t clear at all... you’re blinded by that darkness from childhood, thinking only I can bring you sunshine, unaware that the light illuminating your life has always been by your side."

"Enough!!"

Chester angrily turned around, "My feelings are not for you to dictate."

Rebecca laughed foolishly, "Now I finally understand why Alice left without waiting for you to wake up, because you are utterly obstinate, even when aware of your mistake, you refuse to admit defeat to yourself... With such a personality, you’re destined to be lonely all your life!"

"Haven’t you said enough?" Chester’s gaze was sharp enough to kill.

Rebecca nodded in disappointment, turning her back to him.

Chester softened his tone, "In a few days, I’ll visit you in New York."

Rebecca halted her step, "Alright... but I’m afraid you’ll come to New York not to see me, but to beg me, beg me to help you win Alice back."

A chill briefly flashed across Chester’s dark eyes...

Anger dissipated, gradually replaced by deep contemplation.

Three days later.

Keith Antony stood outside the study, fearing that the moody boss inside might inadvertently take it out on him.

Chester sat behind the desk, evidently agitated.

Suddenly, he set down the document in his hand.

"Keith!"

Keith rushed in from outside, "B-boss."

Chester held his forehead, yet to remove the bandage, "Call Attorney Lin."

"Yes."

Keith hurried away, eager to leave the boss’s presence.

Over ten minutes later, Attorney Lin entered the study.

Keith stood outside the study door, winking at Attorney Lin.

He was advising Attorney Lin to be careful, as the person inside was extremely unstable.

As Attorney Lin entered the study, he instantly sensed the oppressive atmosphere within,

"Mr. Robinson, glad to see you unharmed."

Indeed, such a complex and tight-knit surgery, even Chester lacked any confidence but miraculously pulled through.

"Didn’t you do what I instructed?"

Hearing the boss’s heavy voice, Attorney Lin bowed his head in trepidation, "Boss, I dared not defy your orders... That day, after you instructed me, I prepared the documents and approached Miss Robinson the same afternoon, but Miss Robinson didn’t accept."

Chester’s eyes froze for a moment, "She didn’t accept?"

Attorney Lin nodded, "I told Miss Robinson about your plan to transfer all your ’QCS’ shares and all movable and immovable properties to her account, but she refused to accept, saying you would be fine, and those didn’t belong to her."

This matter occurred the day before the surgery.

That morning, Chester mentioned it to Alice; though she refused, she made no objection.

That afternoon, the lawyer, following Chester’s instructions, went to Alice to sign the property gift agreement, but unexpectedly, Alice didn’t sign it.

That evening, while together with Chester, Alice didn’t bring up the matter; Chester assumed Alice had taken the property.

When Chester woke up in the hospital, he didn’t see Alice; later, he learned from Keith that Alice had returned to France... At that time, Chester wasn’t too shocked; he thought Alice had taken the property.

But he hadn’t considered that upon returning to the villa, he found the lawyer’s property transfer deed left on his desk by Alice.

Chester leaned back against the chair, his gaze coldly fixed on the property transfer agreement on the desk.

Attorney Lin hesitantly spoke, "I forced Miss Robinson to take the agreement. I told her if she didn’t sign, I couldn’t report back to you... She reluctantly left the agreement."

Chester rubbed his forehead, inexplicably feeling the headache intensify.

Keith nervously stepped forward, "Boss, the doctor said even your discharge was premature... You need to control your emotions and avoid getting angry."

Indeed, had Chester not insisted on being discharged, he should have stayed in the hospital for another month.

Chester waved his hand, signaling for everyone to leave.

Keith was uneasy, "Boss, why don’t I call Director Turner to check your wound recovery..."

Chester reclined against the chair, "I’m fine... Go out!"

"Yes."

Attorney Lin pulled the worried Keith along and quickly exited the study.

Outside the study, Attorney Lin commented, "The boss still has the energy to get angry; his head shouldn’t have major issues... I think the boss was simply riled up by Miss Robinson."

Keith nodded, "I’ll call Director Turner to check later... I don’t understand why the boss is so angry about this; doesn’t he know Miss Alice? How could Miss Alice possibly want the boss’s money?"

As darkness fell, Chester finally emerged from the study.

The servant stepped forward respectfully, "Mr. Robinson, dinner is ready."

Chester nodded slightly.

In the spacious dining room, there was only one set of cutlery.

Usually, at this time, Rachel would undoubtedly sit in the high chair by the dining table, her face messy with food.

Alice would certainly be laughing at Rachel, calling to him as soon as she saw him, linking arms with him.

She would eagerly tell him about the dishes she’d learned from the servant today, then inform him which dishes she made... Actually, she didn’t need to say that, because her dishes were always lacking in color, fragrance, and taste.

She’d pull him to sit at the dining table, placing her dishes in front of him, awaiting his response.

He’d eat a bite; though it tasted bad, seeing the anticipation in her expression, he’d give her a compliment...

She’d be delighted by his praise and then demand he finish it all...

Watching her smile, he’d forget the taste of the food and actually consume all of it.

In the same warmly lit dining room illuminated by a crystal light, there was none of that laughter now, only cold silence.
