Chapter 185: Half Will Hunt. Half Will Watch

It is important to find yourself before you go in search of someone else.

But Zane didn’t have time to find himself.

He would find himself later as right now, he would search for Horum.

But since he had informed Leon about Horum too, the rich kid would also confirm whether Zane Atlas was really searching for Horum or not.

And if Leon found out that to be true, he would also begin his search for Horum.

It would be bad if Leon found Horum before Zane could.

To escape such a problem there was only one way and Zane said it with a shrug.

"We must find Horum before him."

They must find the Flamekeeper before Leon could if they wanted to have a normal life.

"How can you say it so easily? Finding Horum was already hard as it was and now we have to find him before Leon too?" Draxus shook his head.

Zane sighed.

"That is the only way. I revealed that information to Leon because I think we can keep an eye on him when he will find Horum. We can use his resources and grab Horum before he can."

"That also won’t be easy. Leon stays with people. Strong people. They will know if he is being watched. We will be caught. You made a mistake revealing that information." Jammy said.

"That’s why I destroyed the crystal. Now he won’t be able to contact it again to ask more questions."

"Hmm. Leon must be thinking that the man who called him is dead by her hands. But if we had kept the crystal, he would have given us a reward for sharing such information like he had promised. What a waste." Jammy clicked his tongue.

"We have enough money. Stop talking about it." Zane said.

Jammy raised his shoulders and went silent.

"You know what," Xavier said. "I don’t even know anymore. I can’t think of anything. Just tell me what to do. I might be angry at you but I won’t let you die."

"Yes!"

"Tell us too."

"What are the orders?"

Everyone else followed Xavier.

Zane couldn’t help but smile.

His simple decision of revealing information to Leon turned people mindless and confused.

"Why did you call me bitch though?" Hena was still stuck on that.

Zane glanced at her.

"I was acting as a Warden who found out the secret of Zane Atlas and is being chased by you. Someone like that won’t call you by your name. They will use the most derogatory terms possible so I addressed you like that. The worst I could think of was bitch and I said it. I am surprised you didn’t figure out my reason yourself."

"Yeah. That’s why I also didn’t show my anger to him, my lady." Draxus chimed in.

Hena nodded. "I was just confirming. That didn’t look like you were acting. It felt real."

But as she finished speaking, she couldn’t believe her own words.

Why am I even caring about what he called me? I have been called worse before.

Hena didn’t know her own actions. Being called a bitch by Zane didn’t sit right with her.

"I wanted Leon to believe me. I had to act well. Otherwise I would never call you a bitch. Not anymore." Zane said.

Hena smiled.

Then stopped.

Then returned to normal.

"I don’t really care. That’s the only kind of language I expect from a regular customer."

Zane’s face flushed.

"That is a misunderstanding. I am not a customer. I never even did that!"

He shouted and Hena said nothing.

"You don’t believe me, right?" Zane asked.

"I believe you. Don’t worry." Hena said, her face blank.

She doesn’t believe me one bit.

Zane gave up.

He would explain some other day.

But unlike Zane, Hena felt light.

She held back her smile that resulted in her blank face.

"What just happened right now?" Tesla asked.

"Yes, my lady. I want to know too." Draxus chimed in.

"Focus on the work. Don’t talk to me."

Both men stopped talking.

But Draxus surely showed a smile.

A sad one.

No one saw that and Zane looked at Xavier.

"Tell him about Leon. He forgot about him."

Xavier made a face that depicted he got the most boring work in the world.

But since Zane told him to do that, he obliged.

He explained Leon Bronzers to Tesla as short as possible.

"Got it?" Xavier asked.

Tesla showed a thumbs up with a bright smile. "Yes. I got it."

I didn’t understand a thing.

"Good." Xavier turned away from Tesla.

Tesla had seen what kind of face Xavier made so he didn’t dare to ask him to explain a bit better.

He let it go and decided he would remember it eventually when he would see Leon Brozers himself.

For now, he too focused on Zane like the others.

Right now, the leader was silent with his finger under his chin.

He roamed his eyes around the basement but he wasn’t looking at anyone.

He was busy devising something. Some kind of plan. Some kind of a direction to go in at least.

"Alright." He said.

He placed his hands on the table and leaned forward.

"Half of us will focus on finding Horum through his friends and other people. As hard as they could. And the other half will try to keep an eye on Leon. But with extra care. No one should be caught. No one should die.

Buy whatever you want for the mission. You have enough money. If you need more, you can use a Runner to send the request to Xavier’s house. I will get to know about it. All of us will meet in Cinder Row every night to exchange news until we have some means of communication all the time. I would love to use Xavier’s house as the meeting point but if all of us keep coming here, someone will get suspicious and report us."

Everyone nodded.

Zane carried on.

"All of you have weapons. You might not know how to fight so don’t provoke someone you can’t handle. Stay alive, stay cautious and still produce results. With that said..."

THUMP!

Zane slammed his fist on the table.

"Let’s snatch the flame from the Flamekeeper."
