Chapter 158: The Circle Of Iron

The trouble isn’t that there are too many fools, but that the lightning ain’t distributed right.

But Jammy, he distributed it right.

Just after the lightning ended, the dark clouds vanished and the sun took the center stage again.

Vehran, the Warden responsible for the current chaos, turned to ashes.

Jammy killed him.

Just to light up his cigar, the janitor lit up another human being.

Jammy suffered nothing from that attack and left Hena’s mansion.

He walked with no care.

He didn’t run.

He didn’t panic.

He acted as if he owned the place.

Such calmness to him came from the fact that no one was after him.

All of them wanted Zane Atlas.

Jammy walked to the opposite side of where Zane went.

He could have also joined Zane and gone after him but that would only prove more problems.

If Jammy and Zane ran together, they had chances of getting caught.

And knowing Zane, he would worry about Jammy while running.

So it was better to let Zane handle it.

After all, he was the leader and he himself chose to make the Wardens run after him.

Jammy would not disrespect him by going against Zane’s order.

"Hang in there, king. Or kid. Doesn’t matter."

———

Zane jumped over another wall.

He dodged a spear coming from behind.

He dodged a fire ball.

A warden reached closer to him but Zane turned side ways, throwing off the man.

He had no moment of catching his breath.

Curses and insults ran amok as all of them tried everything to stop the gutterborn. To injure him.

His merged Skill didn’t get activated as none of them had any killing intent towards him. They only wanted to capture him.

Because of this, he was dodging the attacks by constantly looking behind himself.

But Zane argued with the system that they still want to hurt him so his Skill should activate.

But the system refused and Zane gritted his teeth.

"Fine."

Zane made up his mind.

He roamed his eyes and in no time he found a medium sized stone lying on the side of a pond of a house.

He went there and picked it up.

Then he turned around, facing the running Wardens.

Zane also never stopped running, even if backwards.

He raised the stone above his head and with whatever strength he had, he launched the medium sized round gray stone at the Warden in the front of the horde.

The Warden easily dodged it but some of them fell by tripping over it.

All of them spewed curses at Zane and that was all he wanted.

"I will kill you!" The Wardens yelled.

Zane smiled.

"Thank you."

[ Killing Intent Detected! ]

[ Merged Skill: Survival Threshold. Activated! ]

Zane’s little plan worked.

The Wardens were already easier to anger and getting hit by a gutterborn was the remaining damage their Ego could take.

Their anger was expected and Zane finally focused all his attention on running away.

The attacks that arrived from behind, his body dodged them on its own now and it also helped me in running away.

The Blue Rose area was like a city of its own but with less people.

There were alleys and streets and instead of running away through the walls, his body turned to the alleys.

He would have chosen the alleys himself if not for him constantly looking behind to see the attacks of the Wardens.

But now he would have it easy.

He found easier exits, ways to lose the Wardens for a few seconds, making their irritation rise.

Zane’s body helped him survive the chase that happened.

But not for long.

His body might have made him unstoppable but it would be the same body that would stop him as well.

He came out of an alley and the Wardens came out the next second.

The thin alley produced more than five hundred men.

But unlike the Wardens, Zane panted heavily.

His black shirt drenched in sweat as drops fell from it like a cloth just washed.

His new shoes turned hot with all the running he did.

But he was glad they didn’t tear up. He wouldn’t like to wear another pair of shoes with holes.

Apart from his clothes, his lungs breathed fire and his heart threatened to beat itself to death.

But all that suffering and running felt justified as he saw the view in front of him.

The last mansion of the Blue Rose Street.

How did he know it was last?

Because next to that mansion was the exit from the area.

Finally.

Zane continued his run and the Wardens did the same.

Many of them used their Skills but not many of them had offensive ones. The Wardens were at the lowest level of security in Dwarkam and they were justifying it by simply running after Zane like cats.

With aching legs, Zane’s body moved on its own as he jumped over the wall of the last mansion.

He walked forward and after one more wall, he would open the gates and be out of here.

He would leave the area and once he assimilated with the crowd, no one would be able to capture him.

He reached closer to the last wall but before he could jump...

"Now!"

A warden shouted.

Another warden raised both of his hands and a huge shadow casted above Zane.

His senses revealed something was wrong as he subconsciously looked above.

And when he did, he found his senses right.

His throat went parched.

From the sky, four walls were coming down.

Four concrete walls with their height taller than the mansions in the area.

They were joined, in a square shape like a house.

It was descending and Zane knew what it wanted.

It would trap him inside.

But he still had time.

The wall moved slowly and Zane would be able to run away before it would come down.

So he wasted no time and dashed towards the wall.

But as if the descending walls weren’t enough...

[ Survival Threshold Stopped! ]

[ You don’t have enough stamina! ]

Zane was on his own now.

The body that protected him all this time now let go of his hand.

But even if his feet were lead, he kept them moving.

Just a little more was left.

The pain of tiredness was better than the pain of leaving his people alone.

He would not be captured.

He refused to be captured.

But since when have the wishes of the poor ever been fulfilled?

"Now!" A warden shouted again.

Another warden spread his arms and the next second...

SWOOSH!

All of them were around Zane.

They teleported to the same last mansion where Zane was.

They again covered him in a circle.

Zane stopped running as he would be captured if he ran forward.

Forget about running forward, he would be captured if he ran in any direction.

But he didn’t give up.

He bent his knees.

However, the Wardens won’t lose this time.

They won’t let him jump.

"Now!"

The warden who had his hand raised towards the sky, the one responsible for the walls in the air, in one motion, he brought his hands down.

And along with his hands...

THRAAM!

The walls slammed down as well.

The four walls covered the last mansion from all sides and finally, the Wardens relaxed.

They breathed a sigh of relief as with their planning and cooperation, they did it.

Zane Atlas was successfully trapped.
